Not sure we can make it, we have so many commitments leading up to flying back for John's sister's memorial in Wisc. It's complicated and tragic for me. Just talked to another long-time friend and member of her church and there may be a possibility of a special service at her church here. It's breaking my heart.

A lovely Obituary of a lovely lady.
We are going to a Memorial Service next week, mother of a dear friend. We met Elizabeth about 5 years go and saw her and her husband every Holiday that we were at her daughters.
Sadly she had Alzheimer's that progress so fast in the last 2 years, with terrible violent episodes. She spend the last 6 months in an acute Alzheimer facility, and peacefully passed last week/ She too had an amazing life. I missed her stories of their escape from Poland and how they prospered in Canada, and then moved to the US when their daughter went to college. A lovely Elegant lady, who was actually younger then myself.

Every once in a while I get a notice that there is a pending member. Before I even considering sending them an e-mail I check the IP address. Been getting a lot of them recently that are from Bangladesh. This morning I had 6 notices in my e-mail and when I went to check, 5 of them were from Bangladesh. Hit that delete button really quickly as that is a hacker. Nothing else new this morning, yet....

Sorry for your loss Flagryl. I read where your friend graduate from Belen High School. My uncle Lee and his family lived there for many years. My family visited there many times , since my dad and Lee were brothers. I also read where Rosemary's father worked for the Santa Fe railroad and so did my Uncle Lee. What a wonderful Obituary to your friend, Rosemary.

Wow, it is a small world. Her went back for her 60th HS reunion, had a great time. Her father's family migrated from Spain to what is now New Mexico. After her husband died in 2007, John and I had her here for her birthday dinner and he always baked her his famous Carrot Cake. Then after she quit traveling to her kid's home for Christmas, we celebrated Christmas Eve here with some other close friends. Again, Carrot Cake was the dessert. We had a key to her home and I was the one who did the research of Life Alert companies. She gave me her prized 50 yr old Chrismas Cactus when she moved to Mesa. I almost killed it, but was able to save stems and it's a lovely plant now. It was diseased. Her eye sight was failing and she didn't know. Neither of us had sisters and her brother was 20 years younger, he was a half brother as his mother died and her father remarried.

I think the internet is wrought with fradulent people and sites. John just purchased a pair of shoes from a site claiming to be a Keen outlet. When they did not send us a confirmation and did not respond to my email inquiry, I called Keen. They do not have outlet stores and the customer svc person immediately called their fraud department and I notified my credit card as this site processed the charge the very day of the order, which was a reg flag for me because companies usually process the charge when they ship. So, I was on high alert. I don't purchase from online stores I do not know but John was seduced by the price at this supposed outlet....duh. That's the hook!

Good news, American Express has already refunded our payment. Love them, besides getting skymiles they are great w/fraud and I know they will go after them. I told Keen and their fraud dept is on them too. I know some people are adverse to Amazon but they are legitimate, besides original store sites. That's the only way I shop. I have McAfee payment protection so not concerned about the process.

It's a pirate world out there.

I read the wonderful Obituary for Rosemary Flagryl. You've had a very sad time
lately and it will take time to recover.♥
It's maddening when scammers, hackers and such strike. We've been lucky but how many people have had their lives ruined by these evil people. We get a very occasional phone call.
My son Ben and his partner Steph have paid a deposit on a house on an island north of us. Fingers crossed that it all goes ahead.
Joe's daughter and SIL will meet Julien and Heather for lunch today in Sydney before they head back home to New Zealand. I'm really happy about it. It's hard for the two families to catch up when distances are so far between .

Flagryl; Rosemary looks like she really IS your sister. I have never seen such a close resemblance in friends. Two beautiful women absolutely delighted to be with each other! And that pink is Divoon on her. You must have had a lot of fun giving each other gifts and planning happy moments. Your memory book has lovely pages. The memorial is beautiful too. They say a woman is as beautiful as the women who love her... I see that in you. I hope you are granted safe and easy travels, and the peaceful joy that grounded your lovely friendships ease the pain you are feeling. (and I'm glad you got the refund.)

My shingles are improved. I was on Valcyclovir for over a decade (Herpes) and could not get the shingles shot. That prescription was stopped in mid 2021, and I started getting alert messages that now I could get a shingles shot within the last month- but hadn't found the time as I mulled over the flu shot/shingles shot timing and got neither - bad me.) Anyway; my Shingles never got as bad as they often are - though they were fire, itch, and misery - I had few lesions and they are healed. I did not require additional steroids and the antibiotics are done. My symptoms are mostly gone and I will return to PT next week after seeing my Doctor again. He feels the decade of the Shingles med (Valcyclovir) helped me have an easier case. I am grateful, though it was sort of a "pay it forward" uncomfortable situation. Now I am reexamining my life for stress, as Shingles is directly related to that. Thank you for all your good thoughts.

Speaking of stress; we had a TS move through last night. Since I am sleeping upstairs due to the Great New Mattress Fiasco (literally just before Shingles) I got to hear the wind gusts profoundly. That was entertaining... but all is well this morning with no damage, zooming clouds breaking open to blue skies, and that shiny look of nature after a bath.

While Huronna is off on the Atlantic side of Florida, I am checking in more often. So fun to see your wonderful work again Rita, your Word Art image in my challenge is a real hoot. I am so sorry for the Shingles Milyn, awful but glad to know you are recovering and didn't have as terrible time as is the norm. Those strong winds always keep me awake at night.

How wonderful to have Ben and his partner Steph close by and how truly heartwarming that Julien and Heather stay in contact with Joe's daughter and SIL. Amy is 10 plus years older than Drew and Kara but they do stay in contact though not raised together.

Yeah, Ro's death leaves a big hole in my life. She was so smart and aware, I could call her about where to buy things and she was always up on the latest. I've never met a person who was as disciplined about diet and health as I am. I met my match. She grew chunky after the birth of her dau and son, but when she discovered she was pre-diabetic she took a class at our hospital and dropped weight. She used to make blonde fudge at Christmas w/sugar-free sweetener and it was too sweet for me but John cleaned it up. Then when all the information came out about the negatives of the sugar-free sweeteners, she quickly adapted. Her apple butter didn't have much sugar. That pink jacket was one I bought before I dropped 16-17 lbs, it was a Sz 12. So we both lost weight and I gave her the jacket w/tags still attached. The stories go on. She attended church regularly so she also inherited some high-end clothes. I don't go that many places to wear all that stuff, except the Symphony, Weddings and now Funerals. She had to have them altered because she was so short but it's worth it if the items are still in fashion and expensive. I always bought classic suits and dresses. She was such a clothes horse. Goodness, I thought I had that crown. It was a hard loss when she moved into the retirement community in Mesa, but at least I could talk to her. Yeah, it's a hard one. Thanks for all the affirming comments. I'll get on with living now as we all do.

I cracked a tooth. It really needs a crown, so I guess I will be fooling around with that.
I have my next A1C tomorrow. Wish me luck.
I am off Prednisone. I am still hungry, though. Maybe I am just naturally hungry.

Minnesota is at 1.8% unemployment. That is good, but it is hard to find plummy jobs because pretty much everyone has those listings already. So I am going over the listings and websites with a fine-toothed comb to get my plummy listings for myself too. I have had one virtual interview and am waiting to hear back from that. Fingers crossed for an in-person one.

Had 1 morning to play since I popped in last, new round of doctors the next 2 weeks, they want to test hubby with a stimulator on his back don't know if it will interfere with his pacer or pump, he's got too many do-dad's and gizmos in him.

I'm  still messing with filters, I need a manual to remember what they do........................

We had a nice time and dinner with friends last night, my friend who had same 4-level back surgery as I had last June. He's doing well, though he's more pessimistic than I am. My daughter had a work retreat last weekend and has come down with her second Covid bout. She says it's more like a cold with being tired, less of an effect than last time. We are not going to her house next week after Susan's memorial, bummer.
