Grassy, I have a friend here who says this is the way to go. She thought I might like a job in either writing or reading aloud, but I don't have the time atm. I had bookmarked this sits as a list to begin with. There are many free lists if you google "work from home on a PC" but these were vetted by US News, so I thought might be a good place to take a peek at if I had an interest. money.usnews.com/money/blogs/outside-voices-careers/articles/sites-to-find-work-from-home-jobs

Also, Grassy... I sympathize about the rash and hope the prednisone works. I thought I had a rash, but have found that it is a mild case of shingles; an itch variant on the lower back and hips called back "Girdle Pattern". I am on Valcyclovir so it should not get worse. But the itching is fierce and not helped by much other than sitting on ice. Wearing things with waistbands is highly problematic.
We got a new mattress delivered the same day that I started with mild itching that got worse every day - and for a bit I thought it was the mattress. I am glad it is not as the mattress is quite nice overall - it is a Beautyrest Pressure Smart 2 with internal lumbar support and a base that allows elevation of head or foot.
It's hot and we need rain. I have hip and knee pain that still needs resolution.
Finally, I have been very depressed for valid reasons I will not go into at this time (I am working with therapists) more than to say I have been deeply hurt in such a way that I have been forced to reevaluate what friendship means in my life, and many patterns of self esteem and self worth that have affected my choices and what I tolerated or allowed in the name of friendship. (Note: this did not happen either at AL or AD. Please don't think that.) What I found has caused me to pull back quite a bit in all areas of my life while I work through these issues.
So I will be here when I can, but it will not be often or predictable for a bit. I hope everyone will grant me understanding and not judge me. I always leave the best of wishes for everyone here.

Thanks for the list.
I am sorry about the friendship honey. You know you get grace here. I think the fact that people were concerned for you shows how much you are loved here. But people need time away sometimes. Like Huronna says, we'll keep your seat warm for you.
Huronna, good for you for writing to the restaurant.

Dear Milyn...I'm sorry you're not doing so well and hope things improve soon. We missed you. No-one here will ever judge you.♥ I have had the disllusionment of a friend who in the end wasn't a friend..it's shattering. Huronna, I'll be interested to see if you get a response. Thank you Flagryl, I am doing OK. Tilly I hope you get your eyes sorted out soon. I had a Buddleia once but it didn't survive. I love them. I also have a Magnolia that is small and struggling. We still get a few flowers. We've had no rain for months. Joe's daughter and husband arrive from NZ tomorrow. Looking forward to it.

Dearest Milyn, friendships can be challenging. Important to keep your boundaries with friends and family. I remember a word art quote I posted. Never make someone a priority when you are only and option to them. Easier said than done! I've been there and understand, it's beyond hard and the feelings of betrayal are enormous. I hope you can recover sooner than later because we miss and adore you.
Silk, so glad you are having family come...good to be surrounded.
Grassy, you hang in there. I think we talked about working from home, maybe healthcare chat person or some digital site chat person. You'd be great.

Yep, Flagryl, we did talk about working from home. I am realizing I have no skills nor experience, so I am checking into different avenues. The beauty of all that is I can do it now during this blowout football game. Right at home. I am concerned about my lack of technical skills. I do have a PC, though, so I am good.

Grassy, you do have skills. You are great at chat and you are articulate. You've worked in the healthcare field before so there's that. Your specific technical skills to a particular platform would come easy to you, give your self a chance. Better than standing on your feet all or part of the day especially in a toxic environment, to you anyway.

We were so excited this morning to see two Tawny Frogmouth Nightjars sitting on my computer room balcony rail. An Adult and a young one. I said goodmorning to them...they opened their eyes and then went back to sleep. They are a large bird. They have the abilty to make themselves look like a tree branch.

Flagryl, you are so kind! Thank you for the confidence.
Silk, I love the birds!
I still have one more week on Prednisone so I am not getting too excited about anything yet. Just getting all my ducks in a row and figuring out how to apply for jobs. You are right Flagryl - I need a good job and not a job that I am just going to quit because it ends up being a terrible fit for me.

Milyn.....In Flagryl's words which I could not have said better....I've been there and understand, it's beyond hard and the feelings of betrayal are enormous. I hope you can recover sooner than later because we miss and adore you.. Silk, those are not the prettiest birds, but they sure are interesting. Grassy, I'll be interested in what you find. For anyone that needs cheering up and like to look at pretty things, I would suggest taking a gander at Nickel's DA site. "JustLeonarda" www.deviantart.com/justleonarda/galleryI start out everyday seeing what new things she has for us. I look in amazement. And then I save and work on them so we can all easily use them.

Wow, Wow and more Wow per Nickel!! Yes Grassy, go for the long haul. And Milyn, one of the main things both John and I stressed with our kids is something my parents taught me, Don't Suffer Fools. It takes practice and persistence because we can all get lured to and by the flattery and allure of others. All of our kids fell victim to a fool or two along the way but early in their teens. All have healthy relationships now. It took me longer because I think I was seduced by the flattery of a few I admired before I understood and saw through the shell. And, sometimes you don't see the whole enchilada...we can all fall victim to a disingenuous illusion we are eager to embrace because at first blush it agrees with our own values and vision. It happens. Be easy on yourself.
Off to JustLeonarda...

1247chance, how lovely.
Thanks Huronna. I think I was using the wrong keywords on Indeed. I just got more hits. Thanks! I have to update things too because I haven't worked in an office for a while so Indeed thinks I need to update my resumé. That's good advice.
Life is so good - I am feeling so much better! Only a week of Prednisone left! I am in a much better mood too. I just need to sit and focus for a minute too. I can't even lose myself in TV because I forget what happened before the commercials. Just a week, though. I am hungry too. I discovered cashew clusters from Target. So yummy. And macadamia nuts too of course. And yummy munchy green salads.

At the risk of boring the pants off everyone I want to tell you more about the Frogmouth. Australians love them. They are an intrigueing bird. A wingspan of a metre (about a yard ) They have the abilty to camouflage themselves where it's difficult to see them because they look so like a tree branch. Normally they are quite plump. I'll post a couple of pictures so you'll see what I mean . The babies are adorable...we think.

They are so cute Silk! I can't wait to see everything in Australia! It's on my bucket list. Of course, I want to pet all the animals too. I will likely die trying to pet something I shouldn't.
We have to go to town today - about 30 miles away. I slept funny and my hip is all weird. I guess I am getting old. Ha ha ha. Dove Cat came and burrowed under the covers with me at about 3:30 this morning. She loves her mama. She's never burrowed under the blankets before. She usually sleeps on the couch.

Milyn, My first awful let down by a girl I loved and thought of as my best friend was at the early age of thirteen. The shock was enormous. I realized that there were people who didn't have the values I did.

They are cute, how interesting they naturally camouflage themselves w/appearance. Glad you are better Milyn, it does take time. I hope you have a fun trip Huronna and Grassy, I how the appt goes well. Those macadamia nuts are so high in calories you can have a few and count it as a meal!
I had my annual doc appointment and all is well. My thyroid meds cause edema and he's giving me some water pills to take now and again to manage it. I made our appts for 3 vaccines: flu, covid and RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus). This Sat afternoon, glad it will be before we fly back to the Midwest in Oct.
Yea! The skylights are in and they will be delivered to us this Fri so waiting on the roofer to schedule.
We are getting some lovely rain. Birthday cake is gone, cantelope tonight for dessert.
