Since I don't know much about thyroid problems (even though Joe has been on Synthroid for eons) I did a bunch of googling. I was amazed at how many problems can be caused by either hypo or hyperthyroidism. Anything and everything involving one's personality.

I googled it too Huronna. Not nice. Many years ago when I worked in our Snowy Mountains, Iodine was added to the water supply because of not enough causing thyroid problems, and too much it seems is bad too.

Mary, my heart is very full for all of you. I'm glad he has such a loving family who listens to him and supports his wishes, and a Faith that gives him an eagerness looking forward. May his every wish be granted. Be very careful right now, Mary. You are operating on much less than usual. Be careful driving, around sharp objects, showers, and steps etc. The statistics are high for injuries and accidents during this exhausting and profoundly moving time. Really work at breathing out. I found I was holding my breath all the time. I could not breathe in deeply because I never fully exhaled. The problem with that is less Ox to the brain with a decrease in cognitive ability - which includes management of emotions - and an increase in pain. That circle is broken by remembering to whoosh air fully out whenever it crosses your mind. You can't overdo it and more will help more. Leaving so many layers of supportive hugs...

I have been on thyroid meds since 2004. It has been a horror story. My dr (and many other doctors) believe that Long Haul is directly related to preexisting conditions including Thyroid. Flagryl, Grassy, I hope you both have found the right med answers. Grassy; there are 185 calories in 1 ounce of walnuts. Add a few walnuts to your small meals! Gotta go... Therapy on a walking trail. Good advice to Mary on being careful, it's a hard time Mary so yes beware. I've never been big on salt, my thryoid issues are are most likely hereditary from my grandmother per my endocrinologist. She had a goiter too. I eat one brazil nut a day for the selenium which he doesn't think makes a big difference but my former internal med doc suggested as she was open to some alternative supplements. As you all know, I came down w/Covid last April but it was mild, though I did get a secondary sinus infection but I have sinus issues so go figure. And my thyroid issue did not change until now. If Covid then is making my thyroid function better now, I'll take it!
I'm going in for a blood test today and I'm wondering if this hypo condition indicates my thryoid is functioning better since I've been good since off the med that stimulates it, so perhaps I need less of the med to be stable. We shall see.
PG doe was around last evening as well as a buck with emerging antlers, the father? He was small, could be her son.
Grassy, are you still doing okay? Mary, holding you in my heart.

My new med appears to be going well. I just don't want to gain back any of the weight I have lost.
Our AC appears to be about to go on the fritz and everyone is off until the 5th. Dang.

We just got back from our long drive to visit our friends. We left about 10:20 and got there in about 70 minutes. Yes I have lead foot, but there was no traffic to speak of, the speed limit is 70, we were all doing 80 and sometimes a wee bit more. I never go faster than the traffic, but I do go with the flow. We chatted for a while and then went to Panera for lunch. Rick was over joyed because this was the first time that he had been out of the house except for Dr. Appt. And he loves the soup at Panera. we got back to their house spoke for another hour of so, but we could tell that Rick was fading and it was nap time, so we got ready for the trip back home. After all he has been through he was very cheery to have company, but he has lost about 20 pounds and he was not fat to begin with. Jenni said his apatite is slowly returning and he is doing better each day. Good to be home as we usually stay overnight two nights when we get together, not make a round trip.

First I want to say thanks to you all!
Dad is coming home today. Mom said around 6 PM. My guess is the ambulance will leave up there then. They already have a hospital bed and oxygen set up in the bedroom for him. There will be a nurse riding along on the transport to help get him settled at home.
I'm doing OK I think for now

Hospice is really great. They will help you get anything you need. He will be where he wants to be, with his loved ones.

Both my parents had Hospice and I became a patient volunteer after my Dad passed in 2006. I don't know what we would have done without Hospice for Dad. And, I have to say my patients gave me more than I gave them.
Glad your trip went well Huronna, always good to get out. I visited my friend in the hospital today, he's doing well considering. His wife is stressed to the hilt but managing. Surgeon wasn't able to do all that was planned and had to stop after 7 hrs in surgery. Issues and transfusions, could not go forward. More cleanup than anticipated with all the scar tissue and bone spurs and calcium and arthritis build up. This was not his first spine surgery rodeo. It must have been a mess. I just hope he has pain relief and can function well going forward, no cages...no time for them given the terrain. Oh well. Blood clot in leg that had been screened is swollen but he was able to walk today, good progress and they transfered him to a rehab center late this afternoon. Glad I went.

I am OK, struggling a bit with some racing thoughts but I am otherwise OK. Just needlessly worrying. I am unsure why I do this. I hope the new medication kicks in soon. It's only been four days. I am trying very hard, though.

I love you Silk. I am taking a new drug called Latuda. It's for bipolar disorder. I am on a baby dose and as I adjust to it they will add to it. I am also taking anxiety meds as well. I had a good day today so I hope that is a sign. Maybe better days are coming - and strings of them in a row. For all of us. You are in my thoughts and prayers. All of AL is.

Sure hope that new meds works for you Grassy. We need you back PSP-ing LOL How is Dove doing? Still climbing on the book cases?
SIlk, I sent you a PM. She is no longer a member. Hope that Jules gets some good report this time.
Going to a retirement party tonight. Usually some of the other retirees go also plus some that are still working. This girl has actually been there for 30 years. First job she had getitng out of school. She's only worked in Bacti, but that was the department I was originally hired to work in and then I transferred to the main lab which was more of a challenge. Earlier going with Joe to his Derm, I've neber met this Doc. and I want to make sure that his leg is progressing. He really had a cavern dug to get rig of the basal cell and to me it looks like it is healing well, want to double check and you know Joe never asks the right questions and if he does, he doesn't remember the answers. So I have been trying to go to all his appts, more so that when I was working.
Two weeks and we are on out way to CT for 8 days to stay with the friends who stayed in our house in Feb when we were cruising. They are going to stay again in 2024. Three of the 4 weeks we'll be gone and then we have one week together. Should be fun! Don't know if I even mentioned it but we met the first week I was in Italy, in 1973. We met in the laundry mat of all places and have been friends every since.
Ok see you all later, have an appt with my trainer also today..a very full day

I'll be thinking of Jules Silk, I hate the waiting. Grassy, I sure hope you see improvement w/new meds. How is the job search going or are you going to give it a rest for while. I hope Joe's leg heals well, yes I go w/John too. Upcoming trip sounds lovely.
Got a lot done today. Carefully packed my Mother's china to be shipped to my niece in Iowa and packed a vintage coffee and tea set for Drew. I saved all the packing boxes and material from the new dishes, makes me feel better about shipping the china.
Yesterday and today, I got out my summer clothes put some in dryer w/fresh load to take out the wrinkles. I also decided to try to take the yellow/gray out of some white dingy camis. I tried Oxyclean and helped some but not enough, so this time I soaked them in baking soda and water all night. Helped but they are not real white. Poly/Synthetic fabrics are so hard to keep while since using bleach does not work just ruins the fabric. I've read so much stuff about ways to do this my eyes are crossing. Anyone have a better idea?

I had a pretty good day yesterday and an OK day today. I see my therapist tomorrow so I hope I can keep on going and get some good tools onboard to help myself.
How is everyone else? What's going on?

Flagryl, have you tried the old school detergent called Oxydol? I think another one that people liked for stains was Dreft. It cleaned baby laundry, so I am not sure how it will work, but babies are pretty hard on clothes so maybe it will work.
