Hand is healing up, Looking more carefully he actually got it in 6 different places. Such a strange turn of events. Got my absentee ballot yesterday , all filled out and ready to do on Monday. Been doing absentee voting since the early 1970's when we lived over seas for so many years. Never missed an election. Nothing else exciting here at the moment

Hello to all, I have been quiet as I have Pneumonia since the 15th... I was in Urgent care first, then the hospital second and finally my reg doctor too... I am doing better now and only have one pill left to take, I was tested for Covid twice and both were negative thank God... They did so many tests at the hospital and filled me with 2 big bags of antibiotics, and they were going to keep me but the doctor was shocked how much I had improved in the 6 hours I was there... So that is what I am doing, trying to get well again, and the awful part of it all is how I got it... It is from all of the Fire smoke we had from all 4 sides for nearly 3 weeks... Hugz

Oh dear Roni, I am distressed to hear what you've been through. Goodness, the smoke. It even blew into Flagstaff and is slowly dissapating. You take care, good to know you are on the mend.
I was able to feed the birds and fill their feeders and the birdbath. I also made more of Mom's Bug juice. I swear there were over 75 dead yellow jackets in the old containers that I emptied.
Today, I need to repot a couple of my violets. Stay well everyone and take care.

Thank you Flagryl, Thank you so much, I am just glad the worst is over as not being able to breath is really scary, and for me to go to the hospital you know it was not good... Lol...I think that fire smoke was nearly every where...

Friends in Palm Springs sent me daily photos of the smokey sky and I think Angel had it in Utah also. Bad stuff especially when people have lung problems.

We have smoke in NE S Dakota too. Not good at all. Hazy skies and at night it is very visible.
Roni, I'm glad you are getting well. That pneumonia is very dangerous, especially for older people. Take care of yourself.
It is cold and raining here today. Our summer weather is over. We only have 3 months of warm weather around here. I had to turn the heat on last night. Our trees are dropping leaves fast and some are bare already. I'm not ready for winter. It's too soon!!! 😩
Have a good day everyone. I'll get my challenge up after supper.

Oh Roni, how awful! We have smoke all the way in Minnesota too! Our weather lady said it is even affecting our weather systems. We are 2,000 miles from the fires, so I can only imagine how bad it must be for you. Sid has had to use his nebulizers almost every day. Are you OK? Do you use inhalers and nebulizers and such?

Anita, our weather leady put up a chart of when it usually snows in Minnesota. Average snow time is November 9, but it has come as early as September 27, so I guess we're in line. Yuck. It feels like we never had a summer.

Roni I am really sorry to learn that you've had pneumonia and are still recovering. It's so frightening not to be able to breath...it's one of my greatest fears and I have the problem when fluid builds. Smoke from bush fires causes so many problems for people. It seems you have a lot of them in the US just now. Flagryl I just googled Yellow Jackets. They are different to our wasps. The most aggressive here is small but will sting through clothing. Decided to take some anti biotics for my leg that is still dripping fluid and was throbbing....I happened to have some I'd not used. Anita's challenge took my mind off it all. The countryside here is blooming. After the drought and bush fires we finally had a lot of rain . It's all very colourful and gorgeous.

Grassy, usually here we have a big snow before Halloween. Last year we had some but it was only a dusting, but we paid for it later. I know what you mean about not feeling like we had a summer. 😩
Silk, we have so many bees here in the states. Yellow Jackets, wasps, mud dobbers, Hornets, honeybees, bumblebees bees.......and I know there are more. I am so glad the rains came and drenched your land there. I know it will take time for vegetation to become large and lush again, but I hope the animals can begin reproducing now that Spring is coming your way. It is sad how much wildlife was lost because of the stupid actions of a few humans. Did they ever catch those people?
I hope your leg feels better soon and the antibiotics help.
Have a great day everyone.

Better watch that leg Silk. The fragile skin of many of us is a real pain in the patootie. It's called "senior Purpura", not only do we bruise easily, but the skin tears easily also. I often will look at my arm and think where did that bruise come from and I couldn't remember bumping into a wall or anything. I was actually surprised when those cat scratched healed so fast.
Nothing exciting here as yet. too early and still half asleep

A year ago last February I got pneumonia and husband finally took me to urgent care. We were in Florida. They gave me antibiotics and a cough suppressant, I got a nebulizer from my brother instead of the inhalers the drug store was out of. I finally got over it but still could not walk ten steps without being out of breath. Breathing was difficult. I thought I was going to die. Then this year along came covid-19. Well I started thinking I had gotten an early strain of it the year before. Pneumonia is a covid but not 19. I had gotten all the pneumonia shots a few years before so it did not protect me from that. I feel for any one that gets pneumonia or has breathing problems like Angel has. That took me months to get over it. Be very careful. We seen some beautiful sunsets from the smoke here in the Ozarks. The smoke came here too but stayed up in the upper atmosphere. It has turned cold here. Two cold fronts came through one last night and another today. A third one is forecast for Wednesday night. It is to get down in the mid 40s tonight. Today we had north winds and a high of t0. Wind chill felt like it would snow tonight. This being 2020 that would not surprise me but we usually do not get any until November. I do not know when the earliest snow is for here. After the wind last night we had the ground covered with black walnuts. We picked up 16 5 gallon buckets from under the tree in the front yard. Then picked up some from under another tree. We have about 8 black walnut trees in the yard. The 40 acres has more but we leave those for the wild life. The ones in the yard are fall hazards. So we pick them up and put them in a trailer. When the trailer is full we pull it to a walnut huller that pays very little for them. They hull them out then weigh them. Pay us about 15 cents a pound. We have to get them out of the yard so that just pays for gas I think to take them in and maybe enough left for a dinner. We also have oak trees and the deer love the acorns so we do nothing with the acorns because we love watching the deer eat them and play with their babies. When the wind came up with the second front passing through we had more walnuts fall. We will get those tomorrow. There is still a lot in the trees too. Every year I dread this time of year. Huronna, I am happy the cat scratches are healing good. Cats do that sometimes just to get attention. My sister has a cat that bites the back of my head. I just keep her away from me when I go over. My neighbor has been sick a lot. This went on for several weeks. She would have a good day then several bad. The doctors could not find what was wrong. Finally they found it. She has staff infection from a biopsy. She called me today with the news. She is taking antibiotics and now getting sick from that. She said she has more good days between the antibiotics since they are administered in flurries. Silk watch that leg. Like Huronna says as we age our skin gets more fragile. (After surgery the doctor had me on baby aspirin twice a day. I finally quit taking them because I was brushing from no reasons.) if it does not start to heal go see your doctor. Well no real news here so will quit rattling on and on, have a great evening and I will slip off for now.

Roni, how was your appointment? I remember getting pneumonia a month after I had surgery and a week before I was supposed to begin radiation. I was told I had the flu, but I went to the ER, and the doctor there was so kind. She said nope, pneumonia and she helped me so much. It was horrible. I had to sleep sitting up. I remember they had to delay radiation for two weeks because they wanted me more healthy. But that not being able to breathe and struggling for air was horrible. I will say extra special prayers for you.
The stupid migraine is gone! Yay!
Speaking of bees, in Minnesota, if you promise to commit a certain section of your yard to planting milkweed and other plants that benefit the rusty striped honeybee, the State will pay you. Apparently the Rusty Striped Honeybee is endangered to the point that they could become extinct. You have to sign a contract and provide photographic evidence that you are complying. But on the plus side, you can turn your yard into a bee and butterfly sanctuary and you don't have to mow your lawn.
Tonight, I watched Dancing With the Stars, Emergency Call (a new show about 911 dispatchers), and now I am watching The Incredible Dr. Pol.
Minnesota is an early voting state. I voted today, but I still plan to watch all the debates. I will for sure be watching tomorrow.
Minnesota has been in the spotlight a lot lately about defunding the police in Minneapolis. The people of Minneapolis get to vote on that first and then the rest of the state gets to vote on it. There was not enough time to make a ballot measure for the City of Minneapolis, so it will be another four years before that even makes it onto their ballots. If they vote NO, then it stops right there. If they vote YES then there will be all sorts of hearings and the rest of the State will get to vote. If the State says NO then that overrides Minneapolis. It's a long process and I hope a sensible one. I hope that people can calm down and make a levelheaded decision and not just have a knee-jerk reaction. Minnesota is what is called a Referendum, Referral and Recall state and that is why the whole state can vote on something like this. When all those allegations about Al Franken came out, if he had not resigned, Minnesota would have recalled him. That means it would have been like an Impeachment except instead of the Senate voting, the whole State of Minnesota would vote about whether or not to kick Al out of office. But Al quit before he could be subjected to a Recall vote. It's the Curse of the Senate Seat of Hubert Humphrey. Since Hubert Humphrey, nobody has been able to make it past two terms in that seat. Ha ha, there's your lesson in Minnesota Politics. Snort!
How is everyone?
There are 60 Verymany tubes that are $1 today. Ha ha, I own like 45 of them!

Have you guys noticed shortages of certain things? We have plenty of TP in Minnesota, but I am noticing it's hard to get broccoli (that would make George HW Bush happy) and anchovies and water chestnuts.

Thanks Whispy, I am keeping an eye on my leg. I don't bruise even though I take a blood thinner but my leg skin is dry ( have to moisturize ) and I must have scratched it. I promised joe if it's no better soon I'll see my doctor. Pneumonia sounds terrifying. Looks like I have to google Black Walnut trees. Voting is compulsory here in Aus but I believe it isn't in the US. I guess the frenzy has begun. We are interested to see the outcome. Oh Ottie, I would go beserk with all those ants. Now our weather is warming they are appearing. Outside thankfully. Occasionally we have them decide to come inside...usually after heavy rain. That's when my phobia panic happens. Grassy I could never understand why TP was in such demand. Joe was accosted in the store by a woman wanting to buy his that was in the trolley. It's time for bed.

I'm with you Silk regarding the TP. My husband shops at Costco and always buys in bulk, so we had tons of paper products in the house and I even gave my cleaning ladies tons of TP in the beginning. Grassy I can do without the anchovies, but I have noticed no ginger-line diet coke and no Bertolli's Gnocchi . A long as they have my yogurt, strawberries, tomatoes and cucs, I'm a happy camper. Those walnuts sound terrific, we used to just put tow together and crunch them to open them. Then munch out. The only thing I like to attract is butterflies, I have pentas planted in a lot of my garden area, and those flowers are butterfly attractors. Bees I can do without as well as wasps, we get wasp nests in the eaves of the house but every three months the "bug man" comes to gets rid of them as well as other pest.

I just did the most stupid thing. I won 3 tubes in the Zone CDO contest and ordered 2 I already had from previous wins. With my surgery issues, I hadn't unzipped them and didn't see them and there you go. I was on pain meds after that PRP so I'm going to blame it on that. Can't trust anyone on drugs. I ask if they would let me exchange them. I'm such a mess.
I am going to get steroid shots for my legs tomorrow, IT bands are stressing the bursa and my knees. It's our wedding anniversary but I could care less.
Roni, so sorry about the pneumonia. Silk, yes watch that leg. Staff infection from a biopsy, goodness Whispy I sure hope she recovers. My parents use to harvest black walnuts. Dad bought an old small sheller at an auction. He fixed it and they would take the outside layers off instead of driving over them like in the previous years. Mom would pick them and I'd get a quart or two each year. So sad not to get them any longer. John makes the best sorta butter/shortbread cookies with black walnuts drizzled with chocolate.
I have my dental checkup today and John is baking our anniversary cake, an awesome carrot cake. He likes to bake it a day ahead so the flavors are better. We served it at our wedding reception when friends gathered. He baked our wedding cake and sheet cakes for the reception.
