So good to see you Ottie...I was a bit confused since I didn't know you as Polly. Mary, I hope the new meds help. Whispy...you are doing so well with you PT. Flagryl, Good news of your back but I'm sorry to learn that your shoulder is such a problem. I will be interesting to follow up on your heritage. Joe and I had our DNA tests done with Ancestry. He is pure Slav and I am pure Celt ( Viking ). I was very interested to know because since my parents both died when I was five I didn't know a lot. My Mother was so dark and my Grandfather also that I was sure there was some Mediterranean blood. We all have dark eyes although my Grandmother was a redhead. She died young too so I don't know her eye colour. I have to say it fascinates me. I am struggling a bit health-wise. Thank heavens for AL and the lovely members and PSP. Oh Silk if you were confuse just think ' this is kind of funny but about my name i recently maybe 3 yrs ago was told my name wasn't what it was so i asked and they then tell me its MARY ' ok so i thought what!! yup they said it was all wrong its Mary Pauline Yevette my mom told me it was Pauline Lucille Mary Thats what happens when the dad registers the baby lol..lol

Busy day today. Have to go to my medi-weight place to pick up some protein shake stuff. Much cheaper than buying it on line and no postage and handling. Need gas in my car, it's been months since it got fed. Then going to my trainer and after that to see a friend who is disabled that I have not seen since Feb. Taking her out to lunch and then maybe will drop by the casino on the way back. So I won't be back around until evening.

Well, hello there Mary Pauline. I have a similar kind of name story. My grandmother [with whom my father did not get along w/until a year or so after my my birth, another story] was an Elizabeth. My aunt and gg grandmother and an aunt were Janes. So when they discussed my name, Dad wanted to call me Betty, ie just came back from WWII and Betty Grable was cool and they also had a dear friend nicknamed Betty, ie she was an Elizabeth. So, Elizabeth Jane and they'd call me Betty. Birth certificate filled out by my Dad says Betty Jane. Go shave your legs [off the chart song in early 60s]!

Ottie and Flagryl...I love the name stories. Elizabeth is a favorite name of mine and I had two dolls I called Yvette and Pauline. I have a dear friend called Mary. Betty Jane conjures up a pretty little girl....still pretty...or beautiful now. Susannah...I was told it was to be Shirley after Shirley Temple. I'm glad someone prevailed. I was told I would become cross if anyone called me Sue or Susie. Heidi; you are the only one I know. We have some lovely names in the group I would like to hear more name stories.

I have a cute name story for you, Silk. I am the fifth of six children. I have a big brother and three big sisters. So when my mama was pregnant for me, she carried me differently and assumed I was a boy. She and my daddy had picked out only one name - Christopher Michael. My daddy was a professor at the time, and he had a student who had had a baby named Christine a few days before I was born and he had asked my daddy to be the Godfather. So naming me Christine was out. I went without a name for a minute. But then my daddy came up with a name. Guinevere Sylvia. They had already found out I was an albino. The name Guinevere means White Goddess. Sylvia means Person of the Woods. My daddy had asked my oldest sister Maureen if she liked the name. She was just learning how to write in cursive, and she wrote a little name placard for above my crib. I still have it. Sylvia is a diminutive of my daddy's middle name, which was Sylvester.
Huronna, I can't remember if I said that I was excited for your cruise! Hot diggity!
How is everyone feeling?
Flagryl, how was your checkup?

Grassy I love the name Guinevere and Sylvia and how you came by them...do you know the song 'Who is Sylvia, and what is she " a very old song .Shakespeare wrote the verse and Franz Schubert composed the music. Susanna, Susan, Suzanne, Susana. Susannah is an English version of the Hebrew name Shoshana, meaning Lily. My Mother and grandmother were both called Lily. This is fascinating and I hope more tell their story.

My name is Sue, how do you do? My real name is Susan Diane I think I had a great aunt with that name. No real interesting story there. Growing up I was called Susie. I disliked that name so insisted on Sue. Hubby’s 75th birthday tomorrow. Kansas Cousins coming to Branson Sept 28th thru Oct 7th. Appointment with Surgon Oct 1 to set up left knee surgery. Birthday celebration for hubby and his eldest sister Oct 4th in Arkansas. My cousin Russ is have gallbladder and a kidney removed Oct 8th. Dr appointment Oct 9. The next two weeks is pretty full. With two cold fronts coming in tomorrow and Wednesday it will be damp and cool. we turned off our air conditioner unit last week no furnace yet. Might have to turn it on next week because lows in the 40’s is forecast. Somewhere around the first I will give dogs a grooming and flea/tick treatment. That is every month.
I got put Facebook “Jail” for the second time violating their rules. A person got cross with one of my posts and I posted back. Guess that is what it was about. I have removed the post and her replies and have changed my posts to be seen by friends only. I have also blocked seeing her hateful posts for 30 days. I do not need that. But I have decided to only read a few posts for awhile. If you need to contact me use Messenger, private message here, text or phone calls. To many people are posting hate and with things the way they are we do not need more hate. I might just quit Facebook all together. I will not quit being here. Love it here.

Good morning...very interesting posts. I have a friend who was deleted from Facebook for being too political. Now if he were political leaning one way, nothing would have happened , but you know what I mean. So he opened up another page with a different name, unfortunately Facebook does follow not only names but IP addresses and that one got deleted also.
I usually only post graphics and once in a blue moon over the past few months a few political videos , one of which they did delete as Fact checked and untrue HURMPH!!!!
I do use the messenger quite a bit and the games, so I try not to be too outstanding. Ity's a carry over from here. Say what you want privately and I have received some zingers at time, but keep it nice on the boards.
Now for names. Many of you know how I got Huronna and you can even read about that here, but I don't think I have ever mentioned how my name became Heidi. Well here goes the story that my mother told me. She had already had a son, Richard my older brother (RIP) and was sure that she was having another boy. Said she was carrying it the same or something like that, so they had only picked out a boy's name and whalaa haha I was a girl....with no name. My mother's best friend came to visit her in the hospital that day and she had just been to the library and had picked up the book Heidi. When my mother mentioned she didn't have a girl's name, she was shown the title of the book and ....now you know the rest of the story.
Growing up I absolutely abhorred the name, I wanted to be a Barbara or a Sandra, just like everyone else. But as I grew older and never came across another Heidi, I liked the idea of people knowing exactly who I was. When the Doc would call the lab, they usually asked for the hemo tech or the chem tech, but when they wanted me, they asked for Heidi and knew they would get the right answer LOL.
The first person I came across, though I didn't actually meet her was when we were stationed in Italy and there were twins as patients and one of them was named Heidi. In Puerto Rico there were quite a few, but none spelt the same as mine, they were Haydee, or Hidee, pronounced the same only.
Finally when I started to work at TGH, I called the ER one evening and I always said, "This is Heidi from the Lab....and then what I needed to talk about" Well this day the ER nurse answered the phone saying, ER, Heidi speaking.....I was floored and stammered...OMG are you really a Heidi, she said yes, when I said I was also we just laughted as she didn't know any Heidi's either. During the 20 years I was there, there were two other's and we knew each other as Heidi Dinosaur, Heidi Elephant, Heidi Llama(that was me) and I don't remember the other. None of us ever met as there were over 6000 employees. When I called the ER and a Heidi would answer, I would say which one, elephant or dino ha ha ...at least we has something to laugh about with all the trauma around us.
Now on to yesterday, my car was singing all day since she got fed for the first time in a couple of months. She isn't a guzzler, only took 10 gallons. Went to my trainer and had a good session. I actually met his exwife who had brought they son over and was still there. They get along better as friends then husband and wife. We made small talk and she asked how long I had been trained with him. Told her "longer then you've known him" whoops did I say that? She would be amazed at how much he has told me....shhhhh
Then I went to see a friend I had not seen since January when she had surgery and I was with her and her father during the saga. Some of the taggers might remember the name "SassyDeb" because she was one fantastic tuber and there are a few tubes at Angels that were hers. We met on line and found out we lived about 30 minutes apart, so we met for lunch one day and we had something else in common. We actually both stopped smoking on the same day. Over the past 10 years her health has deteriorated, diabetes, lymphodema, many attacks of cellulitis and back problems, all to which she is now 100% disabled, doesn't do anything on the computer and had to move with her father into an over 65 complex. Her dad got a waver for her since she was only in her 50's but disabled. We sat and chatted for about two hours, most of the time I was petting her cat, then all of a sudden he reached out his paw with claws extended and got my hand. I'm not sure if he was stretching and my hand got in the way and the claw got stuck and we both panicked or what. but I got 4 claw marks on my hand and bleeding started. I made them bleed as I ran water and soap over them and then peroxided them and put bandage on them. Will keep an eye on them. but at that point I decided I needed to go. I had originally planned on going to the casino, but after that incident, I wasn't feeling real lucky so I just went home and Joe took me out to dinner LOL Then I vegetated the rest of the night.
Wow this is long!

Wow, some interesting name stories. I love hearing the backstories. You all have such pretty names. My appt went well and the xrays look good. Because of the IT band issues, I'm going to have steroid shots in my legs next week. On the day of our wedding anniversary!!! Better that than wait a week. Shoulder is better, not good but doable. Not sure I'm mentally up for another surgery any time soon after 2 major ones last year. I do understand Whispy about going ahead with yours, get it over with. I don't post anything of a political or religious nature on fb and distance myself from those who do, no time for it. Too much junk from questionable sites that are designed to inflame not truly inform. I won't follow people who post stuff from these pirate sites. I'm sorry to hear about Sassy Deb. AND your hand Heidi. That's terrible!!!
I'm just glad I'm not Lizzy or something.

No name story here, except my middle name is my mother's middle name. She was Jane Louise and I am Anita Louise. I don't care for it so never use it, but have to on documents for the gov. like VA benefits or when I filed taxes.
I have only known 1 other Heidi besides you, Hur. Her and her hubby are from Germany and own a coffee-haus in Franklin. It's called Rathskellars and yes it is in the basement of an old, old building downtown. Exposed brick and mood lighting. I spent many, many happy days there with Alberta when we weren't quilting. They served the best hot ham and cheese sandwiches made with their homemade bread pockets. YUM!!

As all of you know, I am forever getting put in Facebook jail. People get so touchy when they post mean things and then get corrected. Politics - we all like who we like and nobody is going to change anybody's mind about that. I think people forget that I was a journalist so I know how to look things up. You never have to have all the answers. You just need to know where to go to find them. I think the most sad thing about Facebook and Instagram and Twitter is people will post hateful things, and then you correct them, and then they report YOU for calling THEM out on their BS. And my secret is I have a sock account, so if I do get put in facebook jail, I can still play. Sue, you can friend me on Facebook. I won't report you. My feed is sometimes naughty though. I have an immature sense of humor. Anybody can friend me. Har har, I lost about 200 friends so far this year. A lot of people deactivated their accounts, and some people reported me (you have to block the person you are reporting to do that) and I unfriended some due to over the top behavior. I don't care if a person's views differ from mine, but if someone calls my friends names or says really bad things, I will give them the boot.
I think it is sad that there are some people who just deliberately want to misunderstand rather than listen to different points of view.
I love all the name stories! Some of yall, I never knew your real names! That is so cool!
How is everyone?
I have a stupid migraine so I am not doing too much tonight. Blah!

Hey I succeeded in something else today. I don’t use a phone in my car,it is in my purse and if it rings, I wait until I am at a place where I can peacefully answer it finding who called, actually my flip phone was so old, from about 2006, that it didn’t have blue tooth capabilities. But Joe’s did and the Toyota dealer connected his. Well new phone and what to do, so I got out the books and woo hoo I got then connected. Joe was really thrilled and impressed. Ha ha You all probably think this is a simple thing, but remember we always just had flip phones 📞

I have internet atm but the technician is coming tomorrow. Why this is happening is a mystery to me. Bad luck to get a kitty scratch Huronna. I hope it heals soonest. I'm glad your cruise looks promising and it looks dreamy. I scratched my leg and it looked nasty for a while...I was worried I might end up with an ulcer since it was leaking and red. I've been dabbing Teatree oil on it and it's looking much better...it's such good stuff. My podiatrist recommends it too. Flagryl I hope the pain level is bearable. Almost like Winter today...for us that is.
