Love to come in here and read about how everyone's life adventures. It truly expresses each personality. Loved seeing the pictures that Flagryl posted. As she is well aware, I am also from Flagstaff. I was born there and lived there for a good part of my life. There is a small mountain or mesa on the West side of town called Mars Hill. And that is where I grew up in a house overlooking at that time the entire town. Was a beautiful sight to see at night looking down on the town below. Especially during the winter and holiday season. My parents owned and operated a GreyLine Bus Business called Nava Hopi Tours and ran daily busses full of tourists to the Grand Canyon and back. Including the Indian reservations surrounding Flagstaff and some of the other natural wonders. Flagstaff is known as "The City of Seven Wonders" I really miss living there. But I have found that with some of my health problems I can no longer even visit. Last time I visited my daughter (she lives there with her family) I had a hard time breathing due to the high altitude.
Has my stress test on the 18th and did the follow up with the Cardiologist Tuesday. He said everything looked good. But I needed to remember that the stress test is not 100% accurate and he may want to do an angiograph in the near future. Got my Covid booster Monday and today I am getting a flu shot. I haven't had a flu shot since 1974. Hope that I don't get the reaction this time that I had then when I got it. My kids are out of town and on vacation and will not be back until Saturday. My cardiologist has recommended that I get a walker to use so that I can go on walks again. With the weather here really cooling down nicely I am itching to get out there and enjoy it.
Keeping all in my prayers that need them for healing and re-cooperating. Silk hope you get to feeling better soon. Good to hear that Marco has been sent home. my muddled mind can't remember all that I read above so will simply send loads of love and positive vibs to everyone.

Such interesting stories. I guess I should put mine together. Night before I was unable to sleep, to many things going through my mind, So after lying there for two hours I got up at 3 and booked my husband Moderna Covid booster at the local pharmacy. The VA wasn't doing them yet, So I took the reins and just booked i myself. Next week I'll get his flu shot ready. I already had mine at the beginning of the month. Joe's last appt for his right eye is today and I guess he'll get the appt for the left one. Better be soon and I'll tell you why later. Tilly, glad you were neg, happy Marco is home, though still now feeling very chipper, Suzie get that walker, make sure you get the kind that has the seat, so when you get tired, just stop and sit down.

Where to begin...Born and raised in NJ 1945-1963 University in Washington DC 1963-1967 Lived in Arlington and Alexandria Virginia, and Maryland until 1973 During those few years, I married and divorced and met Joe and married. And now the travels began, I try and consolidate this.
In 1973 we were transferred to Italy and not having much money, when we traveled we did it with a 9 x 9 tent and sleeping bags, Two different times we did this for about 24 days and we visited the following countries. Italy, Capri, France, Spain, Netherlands, Switzerland, Belgium, Germany, Austria While living there it was very reasonable to go on other tours because there was no over the ocean travel, you were sort of right there. So we visited Tunisia, Israel, Russia, Turkey, Yugoslavia, Greece,
The next 3 years were spent in various hospitals and the US with rehabilitation of Joe after a head on motor cycle accident. Then we were transferred to Japan. We took 45 days leave to drive across the country going crisscross visiting people all along the way. We were stationed in Japan for almost three years and again, travel was not very expensive because there was no ocean to cross. During this time we visited Japan, Thailand, South Korea, Hong Kong, China
When I said visited, I don't mean we spent days on end in one place. We visited the main cities and the most famous things or areas to see.
Then we returned to the US again driving across country with time with out two cats and dog for about 40 days. We always took our pets with us. Even the first trip to Italy, we took two cats and a dog as they were our family.
We then moved to Puerto Rico where we lived for 17 years. Joe finally retired there, and I had a rewarding job, even learned enough Spanish to teach the new techs how to run all the equipment and tests. During this time, we had tons of visitors , we went on various cruises and would go back to the states to visit families.
In 2000 we moved back to the US to Florida. And the reason behind that is way to long to write about here. And I guess this is where our BIG travels began. For many years I would take a solo trip to AZ-CA, always visiting Suzie and then my friend Bill. Joe would take solo tips to Pittsburgh to visit family or ship reunions. But then we would always take a big trip.
During this time we took quite a few quickie Caribbean cruises, lots on the spur of the moment, but were also went to quite a few other places. LA-Mexico, Las Vegas, San Diego, England, Wales, Ireland, Scotland, Mexico, Costa Rica, Panama Canal, Columbia
, Alaska, Chicago, wedding, China, Tibet, Mongolia, Istanbul-Budapest River cruise, Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Australia, Tazmania, New Zealand, Med cruise, Vietnam, Cambodia
so you might say we love to travel. and I just hope we stay healthy enough to continue. Sorry this is so long, but I really tried to consolidate it LOL

The stories are amazing and wonderful. Somehow it makes you all so much more real to me. Suzie, I loved what you wrote about Flagstaff; we often admired Mars Hill as a place to live. Silk; your past is lyric. I have written mine too, but then I checked the number count and it's twice as long as yours, Huronna, and you have so many beautiful places on your list (though I am curious about "wedding" there between Chicago and China. Where is that?) I have written what I wanted to share, but now I feel I would be hogging the thread. Perhaps I should put it somewhere else with a link? I have a thread of my own somewhere that could be resuscitated, I think.

We had never been to Chicago proper. My brother lived in three different places in the area, but his daughter live in Chicago, so this was the first time we spend any time in the city touring around. Just out it here Milyn, resuscitate it HA HA

Huronna...that's a lot of places to live in but how exciting except for Joe's terrible accident. There can't be too many more places you could visit. I love travel also and have been to many places but I can't outdo you. My greatest regret is that I didn't know you all when I visited the US.

28 days in India. It sounds like a novel, as does so much of your travels - and Joe's motorcycle accident too. You should write the book. It would be amazing!

Wow Milyn...an interesting and varied life. If I were to write my life story it would be a novel...I don't think I'd wish to relive some of it but mostly interesting.

Silk... I understand that. There are many parts I would not want to relive from this perspective. Way too tiring, lol, for one. But it is quite a tale and as you say, quite varied. I would love to read your novel!

I knew most of Huronna's story and then some. I remember about Joe's accident and the aftermath. Terrible. Milyn, love your shop class experiences and stint as a security cop! I've told my story before so won't bore you all again.
Had bookclub Thurs, so good to see everyone. We read and discussed Caste. I think it should be required reading for high school seniors, a hard read because it's the facts are depressing. We are reading a lighter book for our Xmas mtg, Have a Little Faith by Mitch Albom. Perhaps some of you remember the movie.
I've been in touch w/Shezzy. I remembered her jewelry web site and wanted to buy a couple of necklaces for friends for xmas, site is down and under construction but she sent me pics of some inventory so am getting them from her directly. She's been very busy vending at Arts and Crafts shows for the past two years. She says Hi to everyone. For newbies, Shezzy is former active AL member who graced us with her animations. Amazing work.
We got our flu shot last Tue and our Moderna booster today. If we feel well enough tomorrow, we are going to the Sedona Chamber Music performance tomorrow afternoon.

You have been busy, I got Joe's Moderna appt the other day. He was just tired the sedonc day. I bought a lovely necklace from Shezzy, I don't often wear costume jewelry but this is beautiful. I've bee tubing an artist, not a new one, one we actually had group permission for, but her site went belly up and I think Lainey deleted it, but she has another site now, so getting ready to add that in a bit.
Plus we booked another cruise. This one is crazy. The couple that introduced us 50 years ago are on one in Dec out of Pt Canaveral and it would be so convenient for us, but Joe's passport is in the renewal stage, but then I found out that if you leave from a US port and return to the same one, you don't need a passport, just the License and birth certificate. SO I first contacted the husband to make sure I had the right date and the right Deck since this is a humongous ship and then contacted my TA and booked it. Had everything set and then told Gloria where she almost passed out. The last time we went on a cruise with them was 2011. Then I actually joined a faecbook site for this particular cruise and last night someone mentioned that they had gotten a reduced rate, so today I contacted my TA and mentioned it to her and lo and behold out bill was lessened by 1500. So we will be going from Dec 12-19. Driving to the port that morning and parking the car there. One of the bennies of being a disabled vet is that in Florida you do not have to pay for parking. So while other people come the night before, stay in a hotel and then books transportation to the port, we can just drive there, It is less than 3 hours away. So yes, we will be going on another cruise. We do have wifi, but since it is only 7 days, I won't take my laptop, just my ipad and will post photos when we return. Actually I don't know if we will be able to go into any ports without the passport, but what they heck, we are just doing this to be with a couple we have known for over 50 years. Actually I have known then longer than that even

Where does the cruise go? Sounds fun with old friends.
So in talking to Shezzy, she has agreed to make a pendant and necklace out of a cabochon, a rare Arizona stone given to me by a friend quite a few years ago. After John would taste wines for his article, I would take them into the workout place to give away. A man there, very nice retired Vet, was very appreciative. I know he had heart issues even then. Grateful for the wine, he gave me the stone he had purchased at the Tucson Gem and Mineral Show. I need to find out what it is. I haven't seen him in years and think he may have passed.
I feel a tad off today after the booster, but not bad. John may go to the concert w/o me unless I improved. Silk, I hope you are doing better. And Grassy, when do you get the results of your mammo?

Where does it go? No place exciting, it's being together is the exciting part. We spent New Years Week with them this past year and actually the year before. and we remembered that they were here with us on our 40th anniversary also. first day is sailing and 2nd nassau, Bahamas 3rd day sailing, 4th Costa Maya, Mexico, 5th Cozumel, Mexico, 6th sailing 7th COCOCAY Bahamas, then back to port the next day All the stops are very touristy and we have been to them, not only on cruises, but we had friends that lived in Nassau, so I was there a few times. Plus we aren't sure if we will be able to get off since Joe doesn't have a passport, he is going on his driver's license , but that's ok. The idea of being together is what we wanted. I made Joe's appt for his flu shot today, and the appt is today LOL He kept mumbling that he would get it in the VA, but he isn't due to go there for another couple of weeks. I did that with his Moderna booster, then just took a screen shot and sent it to Immunizations via "My Healthy Vet" so they get in his records. So that will be done.
Since I don't normally wear costume jewelry, I was a bit leery about getting that lovely piece from Shezzy, but I don't know what metal she uses but it still looks brand new and didn't turn my skin a funny color also. She does beautiful work

Sounds a fun cruise Huronna... How nice to be with old friends like that. I think staying on board sounds kind of fun, actually... peaceful even!
Flagryl... poost a pic of the stone if you have one. I know many and a friend of mine knows more. Might be able to help you identify it. Stones have energy properties, so always nice to know what the stone is - and the energy it brings.
We are hiding on Halloween tonight. First time ever, I think. We are pulling the curtains and staying in. I am tired and the week will be long. Our new (double recliner) loveseat arrived today. Ye gads and little fishes - it is YUGE! Even though I measured it wouldn't fit in the space I had prepped so our little living room has had major rearrangement. By me. Yikes. It looks ok and I will have enough space to do what I need to do in that room, but part of the space still has that "warehouse' feel when furniture just seems to be marking time in an awkward spot till someone sorts it out. ("Scuse me, in the way, apologies, only temporary, sorry...") Furniture can be so apologetic during a change.

I'd love to see some more photos of Shezzy's jewellery. It's been a while. That cruise sounds interesting Huronna. Flagryl, I'm sorry you're having a reaction from the booster and hope it's short lived. Thank you I feel a little better today...not so nauseous. I don't get my second shot until the 9th of November. Rainbow Lorikeets. They mate for life. We are entertained daily by them . This picture is lovely I think.

Here's the pendant and earring I bought. I got 2 of the pendants and gave one to my step-daughter for her birthday. Just wore the necklace and earrings to my book club. Will show you the others when I get them, 2 are gifts and the other from the rare stone will be mine.

that's a very nice design and quality wire work. Is your Cabachon the same transparent stone? Cozumel is the pport I raced through to see Tulum by bus. Pity I only got a brief flash of Cozumel; I recall beautiful beaches as we ran back to the ship a bit late... I'm glad you are feeling better!
