Lol,Huronna “ just stares when I fed the machine,” just caused me to spit juice, too funny! I am not a winner either, if people sit by me they usually win, I know I paid for the newest car par, probably by myself in the last 5 years, on the orient side of the hard rock, and I think I’m paying for a diaper service for some cute little Indian baby, And without question, I’m totally paying for some single mother with 2 kids, a cheap hair cut- dye job, a car with only 1 working headlight and a couple of home made tacky needled tattoos, probably a tramp stamp, to still have that job at Paris Casino, Las Vegas …for at least another few years, all because of me,
She should be TIPPING me lol… but alas win or lose its fun playing slots… I’m glad everyone’s weekend went smoothly, and you enjoyed your visitors Huronna.
Joes naughty and needs to keep hydrated, thank goodness he married a wise, level headed woman to keep him on track. Is he reading this…..?? Cough cough, I mean thank goodness he is on top of his own health and is doing his thing and all the right things to be healthy… (Man power’) boorah!!
Sorry about the throat, honey lemon tea, usually works for over used vocals lol…

Unreal, the orient side.....I always arrive up orient. I go 301 to MLK to Orient and then the first Garage (the original one) Draper. I love that first slot room down the escalator since it's now no-smoking. But yesterday they followed me into Draper, and waited til I got out of the car, picked me up and then we went to the main hotel entrance, valet service and he had a free room for the night. All that area is new, well I never ventured there. Used to be great machines but they have remodeled everything and don't even go upstairs nothing cheaper than 10 cents but you always have to put in at least 40-80 and they have more shops than the mall. And they are in the passageway giving free cosmetic samples and pulling you by the hair to get into their shop for some demo. We went back to the cheaper area and it still too out $$. We leave Mark at his machine, those thee wells and no fun things. just free spins no bells and whistles. I love when there is some other funny action that you don't know is happening. I guess you use I4 to get to my area and the casino ha ha.
Hoarse through is better, just still a little laryngitis...Joe has another excuse for not listening to me .
His sister and BIL, just got back from a cruise up in canada and US to see the leaves turning. pfft! and both have COVID now. Time to get ack to business here LOL

Work is going great! I ran the cash register for the first time ever. Normally I had just stocked, but I decided to do more this year. It's a shame this store is going out of business in January. It was a real estate decision. The Company simply did not renew the lease in our location.
Life is great!
I am allergic to tons of things, but mainly drugs, bees, and trees. No food allergies.
I like to gamble, but I only bring a set amount of cash with me to the Casino and when it is gone, I am done. I enjoy the slots and Blackjack.
I love bowling, but I am just OK with my best game being 149. I love darts and I used to throw on a league. I used to bowl on a league too because I am a fairly steady bowling so my score doesn't change that much. I guess that is good.
How is everyone?
It is raining like crazy here, and then it is supposed to get crazy cold here. No snow, though. Just insane cold.

That's super Grassy, so glad you are doing so well. Running the cash register should be fun but a lot of time to stand on your feet, take care. Going to casinos hold zero appeal for me, unless we are on a road trip and I need to use their restroom!!
It's been a gorgeous fall here, lovely weather. I got a pedi and my hair cut yesterday. I spent 4 hours this week sorting through all our clothes that had been laundered/dry cleaned after the fire. They got put into different closets when they came back, so I sorted out my summer things to put away and went through EVERYTHING and put all in the right places. Organized all the closets!! I donated a number of items when they came back and have more items after the reorganization. I swear I have too many clothes but hate to part with some. I still have lots of dressy clothes I rarely wear. Wore one outfit earlier this week to a dinner banquet and will wear another to a concert this weekend.
I had wanted to wear one of my long black maxie skirts, hadn't worn in over 20 some years. I could zip both but not fasten the band and they showed through the thin top I wanted to wear. Goodness, why do we get thick in the waist? Arrrrrrrrrrrrrg.

why do we get thick in the waist? as we get older, we have a tendency to get shorter, but all that does is compact everything around the waist. I don't think I even have one anymore.
There is al ALDI's in the same strip mall as the gym. We stopped in there a couple of weeks ago to just check it out. I wanted to get some fruit and didn't feel like driving two miles to Publlix The grapes we bought were fantastic but the strawberries went rotten after 3 days. SO today wanted to get some more grapes. Joe always uses the cart to aid his walking. I don't know if this was something new and we had just gotten a cart in the lot last time or what, but they are charging 25 cents to unhook a cart. Apparently you get it back when you are are the register. I don't carry any change or bills at all (except when I go to the casino) we pay everything with credit cards because we get cash back. So we didn't get a cart. got two items and left.

Lol, Aldi has been doing that for years, it’s so the homeless don’t steal their trolleys, the ones here your money is returned when you unload and rejoin the trolley to the chain at the storefront, If your lucky someone has t bothered to get their quarter back so you get to use the trolley for free, typically of that happens, I always pay it forward and leave it for someone else to use as well… We probably only even go to Aldi right before Christmas as they usually have some good deals, and I know they have great schnitzels… I really have began to hate grocery shopping since Covid, I have only been to a grocery store a handful of times, way less than 10 lol Gary is in charge of the groceries so he usually goes. I use to enjoy wandering around the grocery, especially if we went to whole foods in Tampa, now I avoid the grocery like the plague, which technically was the reason I stopped going in the first place… lol

Grassy, it’s great that you bowl, when you throw darts do you throw real darts or the plastic electronic ones. I enjoy real darts and like A 20-24g weight for the darts, and like horse hair dart boards the best. However I haven’t thrown darts in many many years, as it’s all alectronic boards around here with plastic darts… meh
I use to play a couple of times a year when I visited my friend in Vicksburg Ms she was in a league they used real darts, so they liked to play a lot …. we literally spent probably 2 hours a day while I was there visiting, just playing darts, either at someone’s house or a bar, she kept her practice up and I got to play, so it was fun. Lol..

As usual, I am getting ready to go to the gym, we have company arriving late tonight. They are flying in from their 3 week trip to England. Land around 8 have to go through customs and what ever and get their car, so it will most like like be 10 PM, but better staying here that having to dive another 75 miles down the road to North Port. Deezaster had again inundated me with images for you all from candles to bow to Santas, emu, kangaroo, hedgies, dogs cat, bears, penguins, deer , squirrel and last but not least koala. 39 will be posted later this afternoon, because right now I am

Hi Dee, I will play with any darts - electronic or metal-tipped. I love a heavier dart. I have my own set of competition darts. I also have a dartboard that Sid gave me a few years ago so I can play at home. I like to play at bars more, though. I like the atmosphere and the fun, even though I don't drink. Some bars have metal-tipped boards, and others have the electronic ones. I love bar food, so when it is treat day, you may find me at a bar with a dartboard eating junky bar food.
Aldi's is lovely. I love their produce, but you have to eat it fairly quickly. They also have good frozen food. The cart rule with the quarter has been around for a minute. I thought it was just a Michigan rule because I lived in a rough town in Michigan. But it is a rule here too. And I have been back in Minnesota for nearly ten years. Plus Aldi's - and this may appeal to you chocolate lovers - has astonishingly good Holiday chocolates around Christmas.
I took over the grocery shopping since I worked in a grocery store during the worst of Covid, but what kind of makes me irritated is how you can't get everything you need at any one place anymore and you sometimes have to go three or four places to get all your stuff. I live in a town of 2,000 so we are very fortunate to even have a full-service grocery store, but we need to drive to Owatonna to get some things such as eggs or milk or creamer and specialty things (like macadamia nuts) because they are too expensive in town or the local store doesn't carry them.

I've had an interesting read of the posts and a few laughs too. Speaking of waists...I am back to a the size 10 that I was as young woman, but now I am skinny and boney , not shapely as I was then.I bought a really nice white linen blouse with lace insets on the sleeves and top. Now I have to wait for an exciting visit to the optometrist and Doctor to wear it. I am going to try for lunch out with a dear friend who recently lost a family member. We've had 2 inches of rain thankfully and the wildlife is excited. Today there was a big Brush Turkey trying to outrun a big kangaroo followed by two Plovers. Maybe our garden will survive after all....most of it. Forgive me for not replying to the posts I've missed. Love you all.

There was an Aldi's in town when I first moved here, I went into it once and it smelled like fish, I left immediately and have never been back to it. That was 23 years ago, Then a couple of years ago they opened this on in the same shopping mall that the gym is in. I went in once about 5 years ago and picked up a few items, took them to the counter and when I handed them my credit card that said, is that a debit card? I said no a credit card. and they said they didn't accept credit cards only debit or cash. I don't carry cash and believe it or not I have never had a debit card. I get cash back on all my credit cards and I pay them off in full when the bill comes, so I never have paid any interest.. When we travel it's a different story since we are always tipping people who help, especially in the airports.
I'm like you Silk, unless I am going out or expecting company, I'm in the house with a terri-cloth romper and pj's. I have lots of them HA HA, I do have to go shopping in the comping week or so to get some more bermudas and tops for the upcoming cruise because this one does not do your laundry. I'll come home with a suitcase of wash to do.

Depends on the company, when we visited Joe's niece , we both walked out in the exact same terri-cloth rompers HA HA an we both hung around in them until about noon. Same thing when they were here this past weekend. Same romper but different colors, they are great in this warm weather

Lol, omg you ladies, just warm my heart… Gary use to make fun of me because at home I lived in pj’s or lounge pants and a t-shirt, no bra, no underwear, no mess, no fuss, comfort forever… and he use to get dressed, even wore a belt Lol.. “guess who lives in t-shirts and lounger shorts, or lounge pants now??” Hah!,,
I only put real clothes on to go out for dinner, shopping, casino or traveling… Otherwise I only wear bowling gear, Workout pants/capris and bowling shirts, usually 3 times a week.l at the moment it’s just 2 times a week.. Naturally I use a bosom brace and underwear if I leave the house lol…
I started making my gift bags today for Christmas, they are 12”x 12” x 6”
I am at 6 they take about 2 hours each to make, I need 18 of them lol
I got all my card bases ready, so for mailing I have 4.25x5.5 or 5 x 7 and to give my team mates and friends here in town I have 7 x 7, I’m also thinking about making step cards for a change.
Going to wake Gary up at 5am so we can eat breakfast at the rise at the casino and play around then head to whole foods in Tampa, he has no idea that’s happening until it happens lol… Enjoy your weekend, good to see you are all happy. Healthy, and enjoying your October 🫶🏻
I have no idea what a romper is, I know baby rompers and I can’t think of adult ones lol, do they button up in the crotch like babies??

We get thick around the waist as a form of protection.... this way when we fall, we bounce.... my biggest issue is not being flexible any longer [ messed up my knee years ago] and if for some reason I have to get down on my knees I better be in an area where theres something to help me up [ chair, table whatever]
As far as shape I know things were in different places when I was young, but gravity seems to be winning in that department..should have slept like a bat the last 20+++++ plus years
oddily enough I have a few hobbies , which I haven't been able to do..I used to shoot black powder, loved the complexity, but was never really good, at least I hit the target.. hubby is a competition pistol and rifle shooter.. and weekly I become the native gun barer, target hanger ect. and yearly we use to head up to camp Perry for the national matches.. old age took that away too...
As I read some of the posts I saw a few mentions of ALDI's, I go in there once in awhile for a container of the Chicken Salad .. OMG is that stuff is great!
never said but have 2 boys, each one married 3 times, that gave me 11 grandkids and 2 great grandkids, seems they wanted to repopulate the world..didn't follow the example we set...hubby and I have been together almost 60 years
Mary your a fellow ohioian! I'm in the north west end too... in lakewood love this area..its a walk about community
ok back to reality hubby's up and I need to move .............

If there is one thing that COVID did that was good, was make me add the chit chat thread to the board. Previously we rarely if ever talked about our private lives. Yes many of us did talk in PM's but now I really think it helps become more of a family and can understand each other well. Rompers were very popular in the 70's, you could find them everywhere, especially in warmer climates and beach areas, I guess they might be called "cover ups" Mine were from back then and falling apart, and if you googled you could find one on eBay but they were used. Last year a couple of companies started making them and selling them on line, but in limited quantities. Bought them up, black and white, teal, pink, black, and pink. That should give you an idea. Bras? What are they? In 1985, after struggling for years, my husband said, why even bother. That was all the encouragement I needed. Out the window they went, just think of all the $$ I saved over the years (enough for a cruise ?? HA HA) but as we get older, we get shorter but weight the same and things tend to shift and what was perky before, no longer is. But also having developed COPD, having anything put pressure on my lungs is like I am being squished to death. So my clothes conceal, dark colors and loose fitting. Onward to the next conversation. Darts, played when younger, shooting, only rifles in the amusement parks. Joe has a concealed carry and goes to the range every once in a while. I though about getting a pistol, but with my eyesight I would have to say...wait, I have to get my distance glasses so I can find one of you....by that time....... Dee you go to the RISE for breakfast? We used to go there for a quick bite, loved their flat breads, but that was before they started all the remodeling, now I'd need a road map to find it LOL Do they still have the buffet upstairs. I just don't eat enough to make that worth while. Of course in the old days Joe could make up for that. I liked the Hard Rock Cafe since those were the rooms I always played in. After driving there, about 30 minutes, parking and down the escalator, my first stop was always the loo. Always have to know where all of them are LOL. Dee You sound really busy with the holidays coming. I used to decorate, big treem lots of Christmas "things" around, stuffed animals with dates on them. I gave all of that to the fire Dept for their child fair at the holidays. Once I retired, we really don't seem to be around at the holidays. Either cruising or visiting friends I'm lucky if I get my yearly Christmas letter out. Clyde, two boys and what a group of young ones. How many of the weddings did you go to? Joe and I were both married and divorced (him) and separated (me) when we met, We always said the first one was a practice HA HA. This one is now 50 years Well I guess that is about it for now, I wonder what other trouble I can get into. Oh we will be going on a cruise Nov. 26th to Dec 10th. It's a real easy one, not on the other side of the world (those come in 2024) We drive to the port about 15 miles away, valet part and walk across the street and we are in the terminal. Since we have been to all the islands, we aren't really interested in the touring, just being "taken care of" LOL. It's the biggest suite we have ever reserved and there have been some pretty good sized ones. But we figued we don't know how much longer we will be full of whim and vigor to do these, so we are going ultra-first class HA HA With my lap top of course ha ha, you can't ever get rid of me totally

I LOVE the rompers! I don't generally wear those, though because I need two-piece due to the fact that I am so large on top (big bewbs) everything gets pulls so far up the bottom would be like flossing my butt. What I love is a terry cloth wrap with straps but it is like a dress and you can wear your own undies underneath it. Sort of like a dress, but it is lounge wear. Celebrities wear them by the pool all the time. I wear them as pajamas until it's bedtime and then I sleep naked as a jaybird - unless there is a tornado watch, in which case I wear a bra and the whole works because I don't want to get sucked out of my house and be found on Maple Street Nekkid.
Your suite sounds amazing Huronna! I'm excited for you!
I like to think of my first marriage as a rookie mistake. It was a doggone disaster, but thank GAWD I am over it now! And now I am the same loveable misfit you always loved. I found Sid after all that mess too, and Sid treats me like a goddess too. He was married twice before he met me.

That would be a sight....to be found on Maple Street Nekkid. Never thought about tornados, but I do remember the hurricanes and when they are do, I'm usually in scrubs or jeans. We've been lucky (knock on wood) since moving to Fl. Not like the zingers we lived through in PR. We are glad you dumped #1 also, personalities change when one gets rid on the weight around one's neck. I speak from experience on that one also. Well I just remembered I had forgotten my challenge, so I just zipped one up and got it there. I'll have to make a screen shot of the room and post it, even I when I think about it

I was only in a couple of hurricanes when I lived in Georgia. They generally did not go that far inland - just rain and tornadoes.
Ah #1. I think I was more worried about being 30 and single. I knew I wasn't grown up enough to be married and I still had more adventures I wanted to do. I was worried that nobody else would ever ask me. Phooey on that! There is an old saying that goes better alone than badly accompanied. I am going to take that to heart. Of course now I have Sid. My sweet little Sidbear.
I am happy you got Joe.
How is everyone? I read all the posts - sometimes I just forget to reply to everyone's comments. But I do read. And I love you all.
I wanted some mindless entertainment on my TV so I started watching that old show Miami Vice. Ha ha, I am totally into it now and I find myself stopping what I am doing to pay rapt attention to the show. I miss the 1980s. That was my jam. The clothes, the music, everything. I was in college when that show aired. Between that show and CSI: Miami, I really want to go to Miami now. I have never been there. Is it nice? Is there lots of crime?

Yes Ma'am. I thought I had more adventures, plus i was having so much fun just having a boyfriend, but still being with my friends. I wasn't ready to settle down yet. I was still traveling and going to New York with my girlfriends to shows and going to concerts and having a ball. When I got married, #1 tended to isolate me. I thought marriage stunk. Sid lets me do pretty much anything I want to do. As long as I am with safe drivers who use their turn signals. Although the adventures are basically out to eat or to local plays.

I had a romper dress, midi length, I loved. I suppose some considered it beachwear but I wore it with heels as a sundress. I married at 20 and had Amy at 23. Not a great match. John is my soulmate, we are very different but have the same values and ideas about lifestyle. I'm the extrovert and he's the introvert but I think he is better at conversation than I. He's a great helpmate and I fill in gaps for him which is especially important now since he struggles with some short-term memory issues. I am now the brain and he gets a great kick out of being my hunk, my brawn. Quite a transition for a guy who did quantatative scientific research for most of his life! Now, I'm the one who crunches the numbers. But, you know, he can remember details and the impacts of his prior research. Imbedded in his brain. It's a kind of dementia, not Alzheimers.
We had date night Friday, dinner at our favorite Italian/Pizza place and the symphony. My they are good these days, thoroughly ejoyable. Grassy, your Vikings played well and beat our Packer. We have such a young team and they are struggling with being in sync with oneanother, too many penalties and miscues. I sure hope your Qback Cousins is not seriously hurt, looks like he stumbled and got an ankle sprain???

Post by Grassy on Oct 29, 2023 19:02:23 GMT -5
Flagryl, there is talk that Cousins may have torn his Achilles. He's got to have an MRI to confirm. I hope it's not that. I think the Packers had a rough day today. Better days are coming.
John sounds wonderful. Sid and I have an 18-year age difference. He doesn't understand a lot of the pop culture references, so I need to explain those. Sid and I also work through our opposite things. He treats me like a queen. We complement each other. Sounds like you and John do too.
