Good afternoon...Ben is here. He was pulled up just before he arrived but had all his documentation. Thanks everyone for your condolences. It was heart breaking when my friend's daughter phoned me. Joe took a tumble on our driveway a little while ago. He's hurt his leg. He is so stubborn though...I want him to use my stair lift...oh no ! The neighbours and Ben all rallied round. I've been a bit sick the past two days but it's always nice to come to this thread and catch up plus have a moan . Whispy, what is a skeeter? Best wishes for your upcoming medical visits. Be well everyone.

"He was pulled up just before he arrived but had all his documentation." What do you mean? Did the police stop him? Are there COVID checkers running around. When you say "lockdown" you aren't kidding. Sure hope that Joe is ok, those tumbles can hurt our old brittle bones. Got my blood work results back....normal as a 20 year old. YEAH! Today is a very somber day for many of us 9/11

Not staying long have to be back by the 26th. Spoke to my realtor and he is looking forward to meeting us. Baxter will be heart broken. He has to stay home. My sister loves him and will spend time here with him.I will miss him too. Going to Polk City first. Do not know from there. I sure will try and check in a couple of times.

Yes Huronna...the police pull people up who are drivng. They can of course check a number plate and know if you're from Sydney. Lockdown was lifted yesterday in my area. So, you can behave like a 20 year old. Glad all is well. Joe is gradually improving but is using a stick. Thanks Whispy for those definitions. Love them. I have been to Missouri over twenty years ago when visiting family, but not the Ozarks. Today I have to get breakfast for Joe when he usually gets mine. It's wonderful to have my son here. I am hoping Julien can also come up.

oh I am so glad he was able to come, Silk! Wishing you a wonderful time together!
Hope everyone is staying healthy! I had my 2nd Fouchi Ouchie yesterday. Arm is a little sore but that's all so far. Been trying to get some stuff done at the Zone. I have TOO many tubes to choose from is my problem I think! haha
Well, Sydnee's first week of 6th grade went well. She seems to like it this year so far. They start band this year. She wants to play the clarinet just as I did. Don't remember anything now so I can't help her much but I listed to her when she messes around with it. At least she isn't playing during the night since school started!

Talked to a good friend of mine who had a trip to Israel booked for Dec. They just cancelled. The latest fear is what happens if you test pos during a trip, the thought of her being quarantined in TelAviv for two weeks was enough for them to cancel the trip. They are going to Alaska, leaving this coming Sunday. Day after us.
We both are nervous about the same thing. You have to take a COVID test PCR thing 72 hours of Boarding. We actually loose a day flying so that cuts us down, and they were planning on spending a day in Seattle first. I can see us both getting our results in the airports just as we are getting ready to board. yikes!
No one accepts the quickie test for cruise travel. So I hope all these places do quick work.
Well, I actually packed last night, had to figues out what I was taking so I could take my jewelry out and then stow the rest of it away in the back tomorrow. Also needed to know if there was some room left in mine for a coupe of Joe's dress shirts. The last of the paper work came through this AM, a health survey. That was a quickie, the easies of all the stuff, just those typical question you get at the Dr office.
6 days to go...let me see what other new tuts I can find to play with

Fouci Ouchie bwuh hahahahahahaha!
When I got my job teaching in Georgia, they also sent me a helpful book called Speaking Southern Like it Should Be Spoke. It had all sorts of pronunciations and helpful slang. OK, my keyboard is getting ready too obreak. It keeps on just randomly adding O's and P's soo please bear with me OK? For instance, I was goonna teach in Jaw-Ja. Skeeters are mosquitoes. A drink box is a sooda pop vending machine. Jumppin' the broom is getting married. Splitting the blanket is getting a divoorce. They explained about the Civil War Re-enactments. The Civil War is called The War oof Northern Aggression in the South. These re-enactments are for real and they are no joke. They can tie up actual traffic. Which I find too be confusing because there were no highways during that war. All kidding aside, though, I love love looove the South! My mama was born and raised in West Virginia, which she swears is NOOT the South. And my little broother says Texas is not the South either. He's lived in Houston for years.
Just know too that if yoou are hearing "Bless your heart" in the real South, it is not a coompliment.
Pretty as a peach is a great compliment.
I gotta catch upp on all the news.
I have been working. Ha ha. I slept 16 hours after my first shift! LOL! I have four more days and then I am by myself for real real! OMG! We are in active COVID outbreak status so we are in full PPE in the kitchen. That makes it kind of hard when we go out to the residents and ask them if they want us to cut their food or give them a straw oor a clothing pprotectoor or anything else. They have tooo sit away from each other soo they can't chat anymooroe, and they have a really hard time hearing us through all the layers oof mask and face shield plus they can't see our lips. I feel like a space alien.
This keyboard is driving me insane. I am so sorry!

Good evening friends... weather is warm . Huronna I'm sure you're quite anxious about the cruise. psp is the best thing to take one's mind off 'things' I love all the expressions of the various areas and I know accents can vary too. Grassy, your key board has it's own idiom. OK Mary, I guess a Fouchi ouchi is the jab ? Thank you it's wonderful to have Ben here. I always love to hear of children playing an instrument...both my sons and my four grandsons all play instruments. Well done Sydnee. I have a beautiful Clarinet Concerto. Glad to hear that she is so far liking the 6th at school. Dinner is almost ready. Joe is still using a cane so Ben will be doing the carving etc. Be well everyone.

Packed? Already, not anxious to go are you? I love it. Silk, I am just delighted Ben is there, not so happy about Joe's fall. I sure hope he didn't jar anything. Grassy, wow what a job. Is this one a keeper? Whispy, I guess you are on the road now. Safe travels. I know skeeters but not the others. I do know that "Bless your Heart" is not a compliment, those southern women sure know how to make a point.
We are having our friends over for dinner tonight. Nothing fancy, just pot roast and John baked that Swedish Almond cake. We still have some of my birthday cake, the Lemon Curd Cheesecake w/blueberry topping. I think my waistline is going to expand. Our other dear friend is in the hospital and will have a couple of scopes tomorrow. Sure hope they get to the bottom of this.
Lovely weather here, sunny and upper 70s.

I don't understand how you can be so skinny when John is always baking those delicious cakes and pies. I had to pack, so I knew what jewelry I was taken so the rest could go into safe keeping. Plus I wanted to make sure I had some room for Joe's dress shirts, can't have him looking like a rag-a-muffin.
Fouchi ouchi HA HA you got it right Silk

Fouci Ouchie = the vaccination for Covid. Some people found it to be extremely painful going in. I have a few friends who claim they felt the serum going through their body. I did not feel that, but by the following day, I had the usual effects - feeling cruddy and tired and such. My 1st one was way worse than my second. But I just slept for a day and a half and it was OK.
Whispy, will you meet Huronna in Florida?
Silk, I am delighted that you have company!
Flagryl, you sure do live juicy. That phrase Living Juicy comes from a lady named Sark. I love her. If you are ever bored (ha ha as if!) you might want to check out some of her books about creativity and enjoying life!
I got a new keyboard. I am so hard on them that I always keep a few spares. I was impatient and a bunch of stuff came off the shelf and knocked some speakers onto my head. One of the speakers hit the ground and cut me. My foot is cut and bruised and swollen. Matt - my lymphedema therapist - told me to look for cellulitis. I told him I was absolutely certain I wouldn't get it. He asked how I was sure. I said because I would be completely screwed if I did har har.

Grassy... When mom was in Assisted Living, the kitchen staff and dining room staff made a huge impact on her daily life. I know it is hard with all the PPE etc but you can be sure you are appreciated. I do hope your foot heals OK. I love "live juicy"!
Silk - so glad Ben is there; hope John improves quickly. Good job you making meals, glad it is warmer too.
Huronna, why do dress shirts need to be in your luggage? I always thought women took more clothes than men on cruises. Bet your jewelry is pretty! Do you take simpler clothes and bling them with jewelry? My friend from Germany who was finally going home to see family cancelled her trip because of fear of not being allowed back on the plane from there and having to isolate. I have other friends who have cancelled trips as well. I hope you finesse all those potential issues and have a wonderful time.
Flagryl, if I ate what you eat I'd need new doors. We eat simple and small and I still can't lose. I envy your metabolism and his baking skills!
I'm glad you had the shot Mary. I don't remember that it was particularly painful, but there are different kinds. I was so glad to get it that I might not have noticed. Still in recovery more than 18 mos later; I def don't want it again. Loved hearing about Sydnee's interest in band and clarinet... I wish I had been able to do that. Everyone who was part of band has such good memories of the experience. Clarinet is lovely!
I will be back working in the garages soon. We have to move the contents of one into our three car. But that is quite full. Steve ha a fondness for buying more shelves and filling them. I clear and he refills. This time we must get lots out as part of what is going in is a set of tall steel shelves and locking cupboards owned by my dad. So other shelves must be emptied and removed. It's going to be a big job. But has to be done; so needs must.
But yesterday evening I played backgammon with a friend who can't drive anymore. She is the one who took mom into her riverside home for Hospice. Since Feb she has had a stroke, been in an auto accident that affected one eye so severely that she has limited vision, and fallen causing multiple fractures (with tears) in her foot. She was a powerhouse with mom, but now is valiant in her struggles. I will go regularly to teach her backgammon. She played many years ago but has forgotten. At one time I was tutored, and then taught Steve - over the period of a year - so I can get her up to speed. It was fun. I could see the river from the window. I did not enter the wing where mom had been; this is my first time back to where she passed.
Whispy, I enjoyed the local terms for things and I hope you have "Clear roads and clear skies" on your trip south (an RV term, for those who don't know.) Good luck with the lot!
I am off... I know I have missed people... I apologize. Leaving HUGS and waves~~~ and thanks for the lovley comments about my mom's photos.

Grassy, I'm so sorry about your foot. That must have really hurt, hope it heals up soon. But, congrats on the keyboard! Living Juicy, huh. Well, I try. I think I can enjoy John's desserts because I have just small slices, and for 3 days only. I also workout over an hour a day, treadmill and pilates which includes 50 sit ups [now modified with bent knees] which I've been doing since the 70s. I honestly do not like starchy carbs, just bloat me and makes my arthritis worse. We have pizza, mexican, pasta, ravioli, etc only once a month. I hate high fat foods, make me want to do an upchuck. Traveling is always a challenge, especially wine trips where I'll gain 5-8 lbs over 2-3 weeks. Goodness, if I don't take it off when we get home and if I kept that up I'd need to put in larger doors. But, you all know w/my degenerative disc disease I CANNOT afford to have a tummy or carry a lot of weight. That would be a huge disaster for me. Being pain free and able to walk several miles a day and move around easily is a huge motivator. Plus, I really enjoy my exercise. It's my time and enjoyable. By the way, did you all know how important it is to keep all your small and tiny muscles toned? Just stretching and isometric exercises do that. Those tiny muscles support the larger ones. Pilates, Yoga. And, by the way I eat alot. Veggies especially. You have to eat to lose weight you know. Burns energy. That's why Weight Watchers is so successful.
Tilly, where are you going on your trips? Congrats on your efforts to avoid meds, I know it's hard. Milyn, I've never played backgammon. Bridge, Hearts, Cribbage, hmmm Canasta when I was a kid.
Off to get my haircut again, having her take more off. It this doesn't work, there's always a shaved head.

Just a quick post tonight. Had a rough day and then had an appointment with my doctor. I got another letter but for Julien this time ( my eldest son ) He will come on Saturday. Grassy do be careful with that cellulitis. My friend who had lymphoedema and diabetes a a ton of other things, often winds up in the hospital with cellulitis. The swelling from the lymphoedema tends to push fluid through the skin, making eruptions. She is a real mess with everything. That's great that Julien will be visiting also. Visitors are so much fun. We got a call yesterday from one of Joe's favorite nieces. She often drives cars from north to sought for the season for the wealthy older snow birds. She has one in Sarasota and is going to stop for a couple of hours on her way back north. COVID test tomorrow, and then hope that the results get to us in time to print out the needed copies. Not much more time to wait...did get an e-mail from Viking last night, they needed one more copy of something, so it was back to the computer to pull out the needed forms and print them out to add to the massive amount of paperwork.

So glad Julien will be on his way Silk, wonderful. Good to hear Joe's leg continues to improve. Oh Huronna, not long now. All your details make me dizzy but you will be on your way soon.
Got my hair cut even shorter and I'm loving it. Saw my shoulder/knee doc and he says the arthritis in my knee is mild and doesn't think I'll ever be a candidate for a knee replacement unless I gain weight. Shoulder is another story, next year perhaps. I just need to get at least 2 years out from my lumbar surgery...doing very well.
It's beautiful weather here, sunny and in the 70s. My favorite time of year. We usually go to the cabin at the lake in Wisc in the fall, but the cabin's back residence is under construction and it would not be very restful.

Talked to Whispy this afternoon. She had arrived in FL and would be within a 60 mile distance from us around dinner. I would have loved to have gone, and any other day I wuold have, but with our COVID test appt tomorrow I just didn't want to risk driving someplace...what if, what if yes "nervous nelly" was here today. Hopefully she will find the piece of property that is suitable and will return for a much longer time in the winter. Then you bet we will meet face to face.

That's too bad you won't see Whispy, but you will. Smart move with all the protocols.
Yesterday was aggravating. Last week the local equipment company picked up our Big Mama snowblower w/tracks for it's annual tuneup. John got a call yesterday morn asking if it had arrived back here. No, okay we'll check. He went outside to finish cutting up the trees we had felled and a guy called back and wanted to know our name. He sounded young and was most likely the mechanic. Had they picked up our snowblower? Well, yes. Did someone deliver it back to us? Well, no. I asked, You can't find it? Well, there were 2 similar ones. They delivered one. Isn't John's name on ours? He didn't answer my question but said he'd check. No word from them all day. So, this morning when John went in to do our grocery shopping, he stopped by. Guy didn't say if they had to retrieve ours or not, but verified there were 2 of the same model and apologized for the confusion. Ours will be ready next week. I mean tons of people out here have big Mama Hondas w/tracks, biggest you can buy. So, wouldn't you put names/orders on these big machines? And, they didn't give John a receipt when they picked it up and he just didn't think to ask. We've been doing business with these people for 18 years. Heck of a way to run a business.
Loving my shorter cut but going back in today for more trim in the back. Would you believe less than 1 inch flips!

Sorry there was so much confusion for you yesterday. Joe is like that also, trusting...rarely asks for a receipt. His Sirius automatically renewed and he called them to get a better rate, which he did. They were supposed to give us back that refund when they charged the second, but they didn't. He never asked them to send a confirmation e-mail or anything, so guess who has to keep a look out for things. Had to make him call them again, still didn't ask for any confirmation. grrrrrr, they did do the refund though.
Had our COVID tests today and registered us on My Chart where you pick them up. now it's just hurry up and wait. ALso had my 6 month routine Dr. Appt. that lasted about 10 minutes. Niece stopped in for an hour quick visit on her way back to Pittsburgh. She drives cars back and forth. Have not seen her in two years, was great even for a wee little visit. Now what to do...ok, outstanding tags, that can wait until tomorrow maybe some tubing?, I did a few yesterday maybe some cryptid ones

Good morning...warm and sunny but some rain would be great. Another shortish post. I read everything but my head is foggy. Flagryl your hair looks great. You've sure had some some aggravation with various things. Very glad to read that your knees won't need surgery but I know the shoulder is an ongoing problem. Huronna, I feel tired just reading of what you've to do to finally get on that cruise. Joe is on the way to being able to walk without the cane. Can't wait to see my son Julien. My poor grandson Jet, at Uni is in lockdown again. I think they had just a week without it. He is not so far from us and I miss his visits. Grassy, take care. Breakfast time and my cup of strong tea to kick start the day. Be well everyone.

I cannot remember the last time I was such a wreck. Usually I am very optimistic, but for some reason with all the bad luck we have had with cruises I was in a tizzy about not getting the COVID a results on time. One friend said it took 24 hours but the web site said 1-2 days and because of the increase in testing maybe longer. If longer we would not be able to go because we had to have the results to even get on the first plane out of tampa. Well thankfully they came through about 45 minutes ago and I just completed printing things out, taking screen shots and collating everything. We cannot checkin on line because of all the documentation needed. I swear I have reams of stuff. But now I can relax and maybe sleep a bit tonight. All I did today was tube a bunch of artists, so stop by Angels general chat board and look what ones are new
