Lord, I can't believe it's only September! It seems like this year has lasted a Century!
Har Har, I had a problem with my phone so I had to call Verizon. It's been such a long year, I thought I had bought my phone in March of 2020, but nope, I bought it in March of this year. Jeez!
I got a new job at the nursing home a couple of blocks from me! Yay! A job in town! But guess what I will be doing? Har Har - DIETARY! They were so stoked! I have never cooked for a large group before. And I don't believe I have ever received such a happy and grateful welcome before.

I too can't believe it is already September. I totally understand how you feel Grassy. Congratulations on your new job Grassy. Quite an accomplishment. I know you will be great at it. The heat is still strong here in TX. Going to be 100 today which really means it will feel like 110. I an so over this summer. Still helping with shelter animals. So many are being turned in. So frustrating with how many kittens there are. All the rescues are full to the brim but we keep trying. Just hurts our hearts to lose some because not enough fosters for all of them. One foster has kittens in every room of her house. Her hubby is so sweet to help her and allow their home to become a kitten nursery.
No plans for travel this month. Hopefully someday soon. Our dog will be having her surgery soon. She had her left leg repaired last year and now this year her right leg needs surgery. Vet said her ACL is about 75% gone. So she will face 2 months of crate rest and no running and playing. Hard for an Australian Shepherd to handle. Funny...she too was a rescue...dumped on the street at four weeks of age. I fostered her for the shelter and the rest is history. She became ours! I tell you she is one heck of an expensive little rescue dog but worth every penny....lol.
Hope everyone has a wonderful day and month. Will stop in when I can. Sending hugs to everyone!

Summer I know the heartache of rescue. I did volunteer work every Sat and Sunday for nine years in PR. I did not foster any though because I already had ferrets and a dog, cat and parrot. Though the ferrets were usually rescues from private people. Grassy you have worn so many hats, I can't keep up with you. I'm sure you will have fun with this one though. Remember not every one love SPAM HA HA Was up late last night getting things done for the new month and today is the first Wed of the month so we have that MOAA (Military Officers Association of America), hubby drags me along and feeds me HEE HEE. I was never a joiner in those wives clubs, I always had my own outside of the military life, with my jobs and all. But now that I'm retired, I guess I can make hubby happy and go with him. We have unpacked the suitcases but have not put them away as we will start thinking about what to pack for our next adventure.

Hi everyone. I’m glad to see Summer posting more. I’m glad you are doing good. Grassy, so glad to hear you found a job so close to home. That will be good for winter. You will be a great addition to the staff. Heidi, you will be gone for a long time this trip. I don’t think I could pack for that long. LOL. Do the ships have some kind of laundry facilities or how do you do your clothes?
I’m doing well and Gracie is loving the sun that streams in the windows in the afternoon. She didn’t have any issues with the move. She seemed to take it in stride. My furniture is slowly coming in. I cancelled the lift chair until the spring and replaced it with a power recliner. That came last Saturday. My loveseat is in store and the bookcases are on the way. I will have them mid week, next week. The dinette is coming the last week of September. The desk I want needs to be put together and I’m not in the mood for that so I’m waiting for a bit on that. I bought myself a new sewing machine and it is top of the line so I need to get busy learning that!! I have my IPhone figured out now. Finally. LOL Well I’m off to the community room for afternoon tea and chatter with the gals. Have a great day and I’ll see you soon.

That's great about your furniture. Joe has one of those power recliners and it also gets in the lift position, though he hasn't had to use it in that position for a long time. But it's much sturdier than our regular furniture and the seat is higher also. New sewing machine WOO HOO, we'll never see you now LOL The ships all have laundry service. Usually the first night they will do basically on set of clothes for free, but after that you have to pay. This cruise actually has full laundry service. free, but that could be determined by the level of room you have. I'm a real good packer, every nook and cranny gets used.socks go into shoes and a lot of my clothes can actually be rolled which keeps the wrinkles out and takes up less space. Joe can't pack for the life of him and he always takes more stuff then he ever uses. He doesn't let me pack for him, he really should, but he wants to do it himself. We each use a carry-on also, because of meds and always a change of clothes in case a suitcase would get delayed some where. That happened to me once in Istanbul, and they don't have Walmart or Targets there. I had a change of undies, but wore the ship and pants for three days. oh well, such is life. I just smelt like a native HA HA. Well back to do some AD challenges Always good to see you Anita

Hi Tully. I hope you have been well. Good to see you.
Huronna, that’s great about the laundry service. It makes sense if you take long cruises. Any time John and I went away he had me pack the bags. I don’t think he wanted to take too much and I could have it done while he was thinking about it. LOL
It feels good to be able to be back even if just on my phone right now. I missed everyone a lot!!!

Good to hear from you Summer, your rescue work is so admirable. I've rescued a few myself. Oh Anita, your new furniture is going to be so lovely after all arrives. And a new sewing machine, you go gryl. Tilly, lovely you can spend time w/grands but glad you got some computer time in. Grassy, good luck with your new job...give us an update. I figured you were a good packer Huronna, Joe's packing makes me smile. Angel, how did the tests go? I was hoping we'd hear by now, hope you are well. Whispy Sue, how are you gryl, how's the back and the MRI?
I had a tough day yesterday. My PT had cancelled the week before, come to find out she had covid. Had been vaccinated so hardly any symptoms except for 24 hrs she lose sense of taste. No one in her family, her colleagues or friends tested positive! Not even hubby w/whom she sleeps. She's fine now but it was scary. The woman who owns the salon where I get my nails done is going through a hard time, a divorce is in the future but getting there has challenges especially w/twin boys 8yrs old. Their school shut down yesterday because of covid sick kids.
My 18 yr old grandson hit a deer outside Rochester, MN. He's okay but the car's hood and headlight was damaged. My eldest arrived in Victoria BC Monday to start university and all is going well w/him getting settled.
But, get this. My dau and husband drove down to DSM for wedding of a nephew and learned on the way down that his 51 yr old cousin who had been vaccinated was in the hospital w/covid. He had heart issues. They went to the wedding, wore masks inside the church and were outside for the reception w/vaccinated family when they learned the bride was an anti-vaxxer and had not bothered to tell anyone! They left and learned on the way home the cousin had died in Sioux Falls, SD! Hard times, these.
My 75th birthday is next week and no big celebration or trip is planned BUT I just ordered a lemon curd cheesecake from my favorite baker and a really good bottle of Pinot Noir to go with the lamb loins I plan to have. So there! Take that Covid and stick your piece where the sun don't shine.

That wasn't very nice of the bride. I will say no more. I've been doing paperwork and on-line stuff for the Malta cruise.
Gives me a big headache as they seem to always be adding more stuff you need to fill out. I was able to schedule our COVID tests for the cruise today. We have to have them done on the 15th and all I had been reading was it was getting difficult to get the test done when you want it. So I had been checking every day so that when they opened up reservations for the 15th I would be right on it, and I was.
Had my trainer today for the first time in a few weeks. I did ok, I think, I hope. We have company arriving tomorrow for two nights. These are the friends we have seen ever 6 weeks or so alternating houses. We live about 90 minutes apart. It will be good to see them.
Been having crazy computer problems today. Periodically my PC has lost wifi connection, though my ipad, laptop and other stuff are all on line. Rebooting the computer and it connects. Definitely don't need puter problems right now.

Good morning all. Speaking of birthday's mine is also coming up this month. I get the point Flagrly's, no birthday celebrations here either. Seems like when we get older , we wish we could turn the numbers around again. Instead of 73 I would like to be 37. That works for me. Congrat's Grassy on your new job , I wish you all the best. I have worked in a nursing home myself, many moons ago. I was a Activity Assistant for 3 years and also worked in the kitchen as a Dietary in the evenings for a while. Hard work but rewarding. Sorry you have to take the covid test for your cruise Huronna. Since I'm having a colonoscopy in Oct myself. I have to take a covid test even though I have had both vaccines. Doesn't make sense if you ask me? That's great news Anita that you got a new sewing machine. That's great Summer that you do volunteer work with animals. I use to do volunteer work for the local church food drive but when the Covid came , they went to pre-package and drive up. That ended that, truly miss it to. Sorry your dog , Summer needs surgery. Hope it goes well.

When my husband has to go to the dentist at the VA, he always has a first appt for the rapid COVID test. But yet when I go to mine or the periodontist , I don't.
Have to take my laptop into the shop today. Since I was having trouble with my PC yesterday (and now it is behaving quite well) I turned on my laptop and it did some long long update. Then it was on for a while, I let it be and was watching TV , when I went back into the room, it was off, off off and it will not turn back on. I let it sleep all night, and it still doesn't turn on this morning. I need it for the cruise as I always like to be able to edit photos while things are fresh in my mind. I think I'll wait til he gets back from lunch before I take it in, then I'll be more awake also LOL

duh, turns out I don't have to take my laptop in, When I went to get it, I saw that the jack into the laptop was not secure, I pushed it in a whala...it turned on. I guess it had been running on battery and then when the battery ran out, it just pooped out also. thank goodness.

Hi all. I've just been so crazy busy. I went on vacation, was home a week or more and got covid. Then a bunch of stuff here at home was going on and now we're in the middle of buying a car at the worst possible time you could buy a car. Add to that the fact it's all being done online and yeah... my head is about to explode. Anyway - enjoy September and I hope to join in somewhere along the line! Sorry if my pic is little. Haven't gotten hosting yet. What do you all use for that, Fotki? Attachments:

Good to see you Amy, so sorry about covid and yes buying a car online is stressful or so I've heard.
Yes, lots of us use Fotki. I really like their hosting and if you go for long term like 3 yrs, be sure to contact them not just buy online you get a pretty good deal. The nice thing is their site retains the name of your tag when someone else downloads and it makes is easy peasy to save. I also find them organized and easy to use.
Glad you checked in Polly, happy anniversary! 5th hubby yet married 57years!?! Happy birthday early Margie sister Virgos! Glad it was just a plug issue Huronna, you do use a surge protector right? All those travel arrangements have had to make give me a headache just hearing about it. Huge challenge. I wish a travel agent could do ALL that so I could just show up at the gate.

Good afternoon everyone. Good to see you posting Amy.Sorry about Covid. Flagryl a lot happening with you. A shock for your grandson. A terrible tragedy at our local beach just 5 minutes from us. A surfer was taken by a shark this morning and unfortunately died. This is the beach my family swims at. Our community is in shock. Keeping this brief but read all the posts. Summer, I hope your dog does well after surgery. I too did some volunteer work at a shelter years ago. Anita it's so good to see you and to know things are settling down. Good news on the laptop Huronna.

Good morning everyone!
Right now it is 5:49 AM here. Been up since 4 AM. Having really irregular sleep pattern lately. Can't sleep in bed so I wander around the house sleeping wherever I can find a comfortable place for a bit. Tore or sprained something in my right shoulder and every time I try to sit somewhere it hurts like a knife going from my shoulder to my back. Doctor said not much they can do...it just has to heal but that it could take months and if I do anything to hurt it that will delay healing.
Haven't taken my dog in for surgery. She will have to be in crate rest with a cone on 24 hours a day. It has been so hot here I haven't wanted to make her wear a cone unless absolutely necessary. She will see surgeon this week and then schedule the surgery.
Hard to believe my Granddaughter is working her first job as a teacher. She worked so hard to realize her dream of being a teacher. So proud of her. She did an advanced graduate school program so received her graduate degree in four different disciplines in one year instead of two. She applied for the second top rated school system and they hired her immediately. Once she gets the experience she will be wanted for any school in TX.
huronna...so glad you figured out your laptop. I have two of them that are stubbornly refusing to work. I am not crazy about laptops and still like my desk computer. Hard to change after all these years I guess.
Flagryl...so glad your grandson is ok. So many people have been hurt when encountering deer. I have no words about the bride. I know she wanted the wedding of her dreams but hopefully no one else has any nightmare endings. Hope you have a wonderful love filled birthday!
Polly....so great to see you here. You certainly have been missed.
Silk...certainly a tragedy at the beach there. It would haunt me when I went there.
Well..I have been busy with helping the animals and working. An old client came in with some returns they need done....seven years to be exact. That should keep me out of trouble for a bit. Trying to get my psp to work. Lost all my filters and trying to get them started again.
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. Labor day weekend here in the US so a lot of people out and about. Sending hugs to all....

Oh Silk, that is horrible. That will keep me out of the water for another 10 years just thinking about it. I'm up early this morning, have no idea why, just woke up. Joe is off to church and our company is still sleeping. The count down begins, two weeks from yesterday we will be in the sky again and off to Malta for our first cruise in over 2 years. We have so much to do during these coming two weeks, seems all of my 6 month appointments are during this time. I was able to get our COVID test appt. for the 15th which is in the 72 hr period before flying out. One of the requirements, amongst many. Great to see you AMy, sorry you got COVID, hope it wasn't too serious a case and that you are ok now. You are right, buying a car now is very difficult as computer chips are in short supply and you have to just take what is there. Not like the old days when you could requests a bunch of things you wanted. I'll be around, on and off today

That is horrid Silk, too close to home. Terrible shock. Oh shoulder issues, so glad you didn't damage too badly and it will heal...hope it isn't too long. I have residual left shoulder issue and need a replacement. I use Voltaren gel at night, lots of arthritis and a bone spur. Wow, congrats to your granddaughter as that's a huge accomplishment. What subject/grade is she teaching?
Oh your trip Huronna, all the details give me a headache but it will be so wonderful. Glad you have the tests all scheduled.
We were supposed to have friends over for dinner but they are not well, not covid as they had that last year. Lots of stuff going around w/school and university starting.
I need to update my jeans and am royally p'd off that Levis no longer sell 100% cotton and I hate that stretch stuff. Wrangler does but I contacted all the stores here that sell them and they only carry the ones that are 60% cotton or stretch. What gives w/that! So, I'll have to make a guess at size and order online. I am still wearing my Levis 505s I bought in 2006 or so and they are ragged for sure and the second generation w/1% elastaine are still pretty good but only wear them around the house. My skinny stretch Levis are for good but I hear bootcut are coming back. I stick w/straight leg and still wear a old flare pair around the house. Oh well.

Thank you Flagryl. We are all stunned.I can't imagine what the family is going through. The only experience I've had with a shark was when I was young paddling in water when a shark took a woman...this was in shallow water. We've had shark attacks at beaches a bit farther than ours. One attack happened where my grandsons live further south. It's always a concern these days when sharks are protected.

Long time absent, I know. Sorry. Baxter is growing his hair back out now and looking a little raggedy I do not know if his previous owner kept him clipped close or the vet clipped his hair after those big dogs tore him up. He has healed nicely and the hair growth has hidden the big scars on his back. The belly scars will always be visible since he has less hair there. He is a lap dog and will lay in my lap all day if I let him. I had the MRI on the 10th of August. I got the disk of it 10 days later and the hospital put in a request for a back/spine specialist to see me. So far no calls from one for an appointment. I couple years ago I had 2 bulging discs and now have 3 plus 2 uncovered discs. The spinal cord is beginning to be squeezed due to narrowing of the space. ( this is from the quick review I got with the disk.) I have searched for laser spine surgery and found an excellent one in Melbourne Florida. They can look at the MRI and give me their recommendation. Good thing is Medicare and my supplemental insurance does allow this type of surgery now. When my brother had his ( at laser spine institute in Tampa which is closed and gone now) nothing accepted the surgery procedure and he had to pay out of pocket. We have been looking for purchasing a place in Florida and Covid has increased the demand for property so much prices are outlandish. We found a couple of RV parks that have one lot for sale in each. One is in Polk City, Fl and the other nicer one is in Bowling Green, Fl. We are waiting on realtor replies before deciding which one. That is if either one is still available. Things are selling so quickly there it is difficult to buy one from over 1,000 miles away. So that is one reason for my being absent so long. We have also been helping Sandy’s husband update an old shed for Sandy a “she shed” it is turning out cute. John works full time so I have been helping Jerry cut metal for the roof. One the outside is done the shed will be enclosed so inside work will be sheltered. It will be wired for lights and heating and cooling then insulated and sheetrocked. She wants it for he crafts. She is paying for all the materials from her part time job. She serves breakfast 3 mornings a week at a hotel in Branson. The other day a lady customer gave her a $100 dollar tips. Biggest one she has ever gotten. I have my garden cleaning out except for the sugar sweet cantaloupe and tomato plants. The pepper plants are finally putting on blooms. They were not doing much in the garden so we moved them to a tire garden. Walnuts and leaves are starting to fall. Keeping leaves off the porches has been a job too. We burned a bunch of leaves in the burn pit and the wild turkeys have came to the pit and dusted themselves with the leaf ashes. I still have my bird feeders up since the birds are really hitting them now. We have had so many colorful birds this year. Yellow finches and purple ices have stayed all summer feeding on them along with cardinals, wrens and other have been on our porch all summer. The two squirrels that started staying near the porch after they were big enough to leave mom this spring, clean up all the dropped seeds. This year has sped by for us. We stay busy and guess that is why time flies. Summer I’d do love Australian Shepard’s, they are cool dogs. I hope the surgery on her leg goes well.It is sad that people do not get their cats fixed so no more unwanted babies to unload on the shelters. The fosters can not take more. I have a friend that fostered dachshunds in Texas and they stayed so long she became a foster fail as she ended up falling in love with them and adopting them. Silk, sad news about the shark attack. Seems sharks are coming closer to shores now and in more numbers now. Huronna, have fun and pictures please. I dreamed we went on a cruise but it was a smaller ship and so much fun. However those big ships are way to crowded for someone that panics in crowds. Looking forward to someday meeting you. We have a reservation for a couple camping days in our motor home on Jerry’s birthday at the lake near by for the 27th and 28th. That will be a nice break. I missed a lot of posts but read many and don’t remember who said what, but I enjoyed reading what is happening. Have a great September I will be back good or bad news for you.
