The only thing I can remotely think of is do you have it optimized? Would that have any thing to do with it? I dunno. I haven't tried the tut yet. It's early yet, so when the night owls come on you will likely get your answer. I am pretty clueless still, so don't trust me yet LOL :-)

Marylee, did you put it on a white background for AS or is it transparent? The black lines might be the crud from optimizing on a transparent backgound.

I did it transparent first then tried white background.. same thing.. wondering if my optimization is set up right..it's from nemesis tut.. might try the other one that Betsy did.. I'm really sick of the optimization making everything look like crap!

I have onlyt tried to do a tut for this one time about 4 years ago. I got so frustrated it ended up in my trash bin and have never tried it again. Good luck. Looking forward to seeing what else you will be doing with it.

If you had already optimized it and then put it on a white background, there will be no change...unfortunately. You would have had to save the psp format and put it on a solid backgound and then optimize it

I'd have to go back and redo that tut. I did it ages ago and I don't remember how to do it. I guess it's time for me to make a new sig....

I just took another look at the tut I used from PSPUG. The letters are placed exactly next to each other and then you use the selection tool to make each letter pop. I remember having a it of a problem with that. If you don't get everything done EXACT, you're gonna have lines that are not wanted. I'm gonna try a different approach. I'm gonna use the 'baby block' font and space them 1 pixel apart. Maybe that will eliminate the problem with the lines.

Huronna, I did try to put white background after I optimized it.. will try before with saved pspimage.. also, Betsy, I think you are right also about selecting the whole thing, although the second time I did it, I did move them apart, cuz I thought maybe I wasn't getting the whole thing.. so therefore I don't know.. he..he.. instead moving the blocks maybe I will just make them blink.. thanks for the ideas ladies..

There is a better way of moving them rathen then the selection tool.
If you have all the letters on different raster layers. go to the layer that has the letter you want to move and use the deform tool hold down your shift ket and use your up/down arrows make sure you count the number of times you hit the arrow so you will do it the same for each cube. This way makes for really smooth movement and the same distance each time

Here's mine from the Nemesis tut that I've always used. I didn't read Betsy's tut but I made a shortcut with mine.
I make the block, duplicate it for as many as I need and line them up, keeping them snug against each other. Basically I just eyeball it. LOL I then go back to block one and start with the letters, making sure that I move to the proper block layer for each letter I add.
When I'm done I just copy merge and take it to AS for the 1st frame. Then I move the first block up a little, copy merge, take it to AS and paste after current frame. **Go back to PSP edit, undo, so that block will fall back into place. Move the next block up a little, copy merge, go to AS, paste after current layer. Now repeat from ** to the last letter is done. Make sure that under Animation/Animation Properties that the color is set to "transparent". Viola! There ya go.
Now I don't put mine on a white background cause there's very little white goobies around it. LOL

Marylee, Make sure your blocks are up against each other, hon. It makes it look neater and the deformation tool works really well.

Well I went back and did it over for the 3rd time and made sure that the selection was tight around each block, cuz I noticed that sometimes it would not be.. this is what I have now.. susy I might try that as yours is so clean... ok.. I will put them closer.. I did at first but I thought maybe thats why I had the lines..

Marylee, Did you make sure that your Animation properties are set at "transparent" and make sure that your blocks are snug against each other?

Ok, I was playing for awhile... I used some of everyone's techniques and some of my own. This was done with the 'baby block' font and I eyeballed the spacing. I also used the up arrows for moving the blocks. I totally eliminated the selections by putting the letters on different layers. It didn't come out too bad... I probably could have spaced them a hair closer.

Ooo, that one is neat, Betsy! I'm with you on using different techniques cause I don't have any patience and I get lost when they go too much into detail. I understand that they have to for those who are learning animation. Believe me, I can sit and stare at a tut for hours and cannot get it right for the life of me, but, if I sit back and think about how the animation works, I usually end up doing my own thing. LOL I went and tried yours and used the instructions for yours for making the block and then just did my own thing from there,. Don't need a white background if you follow mine and make sure your properties are transparent.
