It makes me think of my Grandma. She used to embroider and quilt, too.

I posted at the MSN board that this quilt is beautiful. I remember my grandmother having squares just like them all embroidered and stacked in a dresser drawer. Mmmm, I wonder what ever happend to them. They look like the ones that are embroidered from Aunt Martha's iron-on patterns which have been around since I was a kid and I'm 62. I sold them at Hobby Lobby too before I retired. I'm going to have to ask my cousins what happened to those patches and my grandmother's needlework. I don't think they were ever into that.
Don't ever sell it. Keep it in the family and handle it as little as possible, unless you're going to use it, of course. I use to be in antiques with my parents and they handled quilts with surgical gloves because dirt will embed in any oil from your skin over the years and turn it yellow. I was told at one time that you should never wash hand-made quilts either. They should be taken to a dry cleaner who handles such items regularly.
Thanks again for showing us this quilt. It is quite unique and a beautiful memorial to your MIL.
