Itajaí is a municipality in the state of Santa Catarina, Brazil. It is located on the northern central coast of Santa Catarina and is part of the Vale do Itajaí Mesoregion, on the right bank of the Itajaí-Açu river mouth. It lies at the mouth of the Itajaí River, at 20 feet above sea level. The city has the 2nd largest gross domestic product and the highest per capita income in the State of Santa Catarina. We left this city and drove to the resort city of Camoriu, something of a reduced size of Rio. It is actually sometimes called the Dhu Bahai of Brazil as there seems to be a contest as to who will build the tallest buildings. The Condos line the beach front of Atlantic Avenue. They had to enlarge the beach because there was only shade from the tall buildings on the sand after noon.
We then took a famous city crossing cable car up to the mountain top trail. We then took the ride down the other side of the hill to the beach area. And the return trip was again on the cable car the full way back.
