My goodness, looks like I'm all alone today. I did spend about 5 hours working the the e-visa application online for Brazil. What a bear that was, the slowest website and half the time it didn't accept what you put in, I was ready to pull my hair out. It sure was cold her today, it was 62 in the house when I got up, slowly it went up to about 69, but that was about it. So what has everyone else been doing.

We are staying at my Mom's house until the furnace part comes in. She had the wifi turned back on for us.
Mike spent the day cleaning out the car so the adjuster can look at it. Loads of fun around here!

Hi Bubs, good to see you. Oh Mary, and during the holidays...not fun but at least you are warm. I hope the insurance works out w/car. Always hard to come back from a trip Huronna, so much to do.
The skylight shades are working, tiny glitches and tech said install job was beautiful. Electrician is installing more heat tape on the roof within the next few days, it's been down right balmy here with temps in high 40s-low 50s.
I installed Fubo and looks like I'm going to dump DirectTv. It's costly and we don't access so many of their extensive program choices, not worth it. Plus this NFL local blackout has been wearing. It's time.
Tree is up, my wooden train beneath it warms my heart. Mantle is decorated. Fairy lights are strung in my study. Cards have been sent. Christmas cookie ingredients are still in the cupboard, this weekend?

Hi Flagryl, It sounds like you're ready for Santa except for the cookies. I'm glad to hear your weather isn't too cold up there because then we stay warmer down here. Usually by now it's much colder and windy too.
Have a great Thursday everyone!

The Grinch came to my house. Sid's TV died, but it was under warranty so they are bringing him a new one tomorrow morning. Then when I was at work, danged if the microwave didn't die too. That was not under warranty so we had to go to Owatonna when I got out of work and buy a new one. We did get a relatively inexpensive one, but Jeez, they are still expensive, especially this time of year. Yikes! But I will get it all together. Somehow it always works out and something crazy always happens and it all works out.

Where are you Bubs? How far south? Grassy, that is awful about the tv. Our 2015 smart tv died last year, they don't last. But, our GE Advantium, speed cook and microwave we bought in 2003 is still humming. What a great product!
Good news, the electrician is coming tomorrow morning to put in the heat tape on the roof, yea!

When our micro died about 2 years ago we got a real cheapo from Lowe's, I think even with installation it was less than $250 Don't laugh but we don't have a smart TV, was have an old box TV with the big back end. We bought it in 2000, I didn't even want a TV, but Joe did. Everyone that visits just can't believe that we still have that old thing, but...it still works and Joe can handle the remote...well most of the times. On- off- channel changer- volume. and even then he sometimes gets confused with which button it which. I coud care less,if I want the news I get it on line.and I can't stand the new shows any way
We actually had to turn on the heat today. set it to 72 and once it got there, it stayed there all day without having to kickon again I did have to put a blanket on the bed though

Oh Grassy! Now you have MY luck! He g ot the furnace fixed. Nice and toasty in here now. Glad he could fix it himself. Saved us some money. It was still a little over $400. Then we have to pay for his ticket from the car wreck. Of course that is due before he gets paid $189. If it's not one thing it is 2 others.

I stopped in to wave and see some if the pretty things. I'm also leaving good wishes for those who are unwell or struggling in one way or another.
We have a winter storm that is only dumping rain. I'm bummed. We haven't seen snow in two years. But at least the drought is finally broken, and that's a relief. We took the garland swags off the front of the house before the storm. I bought the garland sections at the after Christmas sale at Lord And Taylor in 1986 and they have been used nearly every year and still look good though I can feel them drying and loosening. We try not to get wind and rain tossing them about too much anymore. We'll put them up again after.
Got a little tree arrangement on the buffet, and a tiny Advent tree on the table. It's something that was made for mom years ago; wood triangle painted green with tiny eye boots spaced on it. 25 matchboxes are covered in a dozen Christmas color prints and sit below it. Each has a bit of carefly folded tissue and an "earring" thst dangles a bead and a charm. One box has a bird on a peg fir the top. The last box has a curled up kitten that goes beneath. I have been good; opening a box every day. The tree is ringed with my collection of Crinkle Klaus figurines. One was given by my SIL decades ago. I liked it and put it out. People noticed and gave me more. I think I have 20 now. They each have a theme and are vibrant and cute. I have been experimenting with roasted vegetables trying to create a holiday dish to share with vegetarian friends.
And that's the news. Stay well all!

Good to see you Milyn, we got about 2 days of rain also, not sure if it cures the drought, but we sure needed it. Don't want to see snow though It's 58 out side and 73 in the house and I'm freezing. Hubby is toasty. That's weird, I'm the one with HBP and I'm always cold and he's got low BP and is always warm. So you might think it's anemia or something, not so as my Hgb is usually around 14 or 15 and his in 12 or 13. Strange world we live it.
I saw a photo of your tree on facebook, but I didn't look carefully, will have to go back.

I posted the FB photo from my phone. I can't figure out how to get a photo attached here from my phone and haven't saved it anywhere else. Today has been a very drained out day for me. I will try tomorrow.

Tilly, you sure make Susan a happy camper, what joyous smiles. I have low bp and am cold all the time. So, John's been baking cookies and I decorated. These are the Stockings my mother made for us. I decorated our mantle with a garland and fairy lights. The Sweet Gum balls in the glass containers are from Ohio, ones I saved and use every year. This is the wooden train I've had since the late 70s, made by a guy at the community college in Creston, IA where I lived at the time:

Lots of memories Flagryl. I was up early, 5:30 am to go with Joe to his PCP appt at 7:30. New Doc and I wanted to meet him and discuss a few things. Was pleased with the results. Didn't have the energy for a tut, so I decided to get my photos off of Photobucket and organize them on fotki. Was quite the lack, after downloading and uploading about 1500 of them, fotki decided to crash. Didn't come back for about an hour and then I did the other 600. Could not believe just how many photos I had.
Then a found an old Christmas tut, but took me quite a while to make all the replacement images, All from Deezaster this time. Weill be posting a WWO a bit later.
Then I also had to go through the next 3 weeks of Joe's pills because the Dco wanted some changes. That took another hour. Now I'm done for the night.

Hello Everyone! I am here! I am sick today. Tummy troubles. I am working my butt off. I am off today so as not to contaminate anybody else. I am burning out. Too much work. I am exhausted. But everything else is good. How about y'all? Susan sure looks happy! The pictures are so great! I love looking at everyone's pictures!

I plan to hibernate, Mary, and look for a job in the spring. There is an insurance company in Owatonna that may be starting a new training class for their company, so I may see if I can get in on that. They always seem to offer one in fall and spring. The store is good, but people's manners seem to have suffered. I think it is some "garage sale customers" at this point. The ones who decide they don't want their stuff and just leave a cartful of things in the middle of the aisle, or the ones who yell at us because of prices or because we have to enter things in one by one. Cashiers do not set prices. Believe me, I would give people 50% off just to shut some up. Ha ha. Kidding. But for the most part, everyone has been patient and nice. It just seems like the loud obnoxious ones bug you the most. And we all feel it. I still smile and say "Merry Christmas" to everyone.

You have immense energy Huronna, you go gryl. Milyn, where are you? I posted your photos for you a few thread back. Grassy, you need a job where you don't have to stand on your feet and preferably with more settled clients. Customer service is difficult these days and especially at the holiday season when some are stressed and stretched to the max.
John is baking cookies and we have some snow in the forecast, but high temps so nothing is going to stick. I have backed up everything and am getting my 2024 folders in order. Supv for our heat tape project stopped by with the manual.
My daughter and family arrived safely in Chiang Mai, Thailand where they and another couple, also with teenage/young adults, are spending Christmas and New Years there, some island for Christmas and then a national park for the remainder. They are like siblings/family and have known and traveled together both stateside and internationally for many many years. Their last fling before the kids are fully launched.
