Welcome newbie, but not a newbie to animation, graphics and AI. Guess I can't use this tag for you LOL One of the things you don't already know about me is that I live outside of Tampa, Florida. Hubby of 51 years, no children or grandchildren and sadly no long have any pets. I did have ferrets for 35 years and really miss them. Make yourself at home and wander around. And hopefully we will see you soon

Thank you for the gracious welcome, I will spend the next few days reading as much as I can, in between eating, sleeping, creating and of course acknowledging my better half as he meanders around the house. Hello to everyone here, thank you for having me, and I look forward to seeing everyone’s wonderful creative sides, and Art. So snippets about me, I am Australian, but have been a resident of USA for 25 years in a couple of weeks, and I also live just outside of Tampa Fl, I am 55 in 8 days, have 2 children: a son who is 24, A daughter who is 38, I have no grandchildren and No pets right now, my last dog Carly, a boxer, passed away in Sept last year. I love to create cards, journals, memory books etc, and have recently wrapped myself up in working with Ai to create images to use in my papercrafting, and when I broke my foot I made quite a few while I was laid up and started posting them in June at Deviant Art which is how and where I met Huronna. I can prattle on forever, so I will again thank you for letting me join and I look forward to getting to know you. Kind Regards ~ Dee aka Deezaster

After all our chats I didn't have any idea where you lived, but when you applied, I can see you IP address (a special magical ability of Admins on proboards) I almost passed out when I saw that you were from Lakeland. 34 miles from me, unreal. You know some day we will have to actually meet in real life. Definitely a small world

Huronna, Oh my goodness we are so close and yes we could easily meet one day. Rita, Lovely to meet you, the space coast is not that far away from us either, I have bowled in tournaments over that way and taken the Victory Casino Cruise, several times. Vector Art is wonderful and so clean and crisp, so it stands out and always looks fabulous. Flagryl, Lovely to meet you, my better half’s parents and most of his 9 siblings live around Phoenix Az, his parents are in the Sun City area, I also have an online gaming friend I’ve known for 20+ years who lives in Mesa Az. Sadly I’ve only been to the airport in Phoenix and the Az side of Hoover Dam, so technically I’ve been to your state but not really lol… I aim to do so, I bowl nationals (USBC Open Championship) yearly and we bowl in Nevada Often usually Vegas, recently in Reno, next year it’s Vegas and If I can swing Gary into agreeing I’d like to drive, so I can see AZ, Utah, Texas, other than their airports lol…Your AD challenge art is beautiful. I just love art, I don’t care if it’s a dot on a wall, I’ll look at it and find something cool about it lol… However I love anything cute and adorable, I’m very into abstract/retro/Popart which edges into vector art as well. I love Asian Influences, especially Japanese, I’m also into unusual art, the weird and wonderful like Klimt, Which also gets me into the macabre, goth, steampunk worlds. I was a huge Ann Rice and Stephen King books reader, so I love experimenting with Darkfantasy art. I am not into B class nudity, sexy, porn, pornish style art, but I do respect and admire true natural/nude beauty artwork, especially the greats, however I don’t use or make it. I feel I have quite an eclectic taste in art and the same with my Ai collection, I do know some of my Ai female artwork has cleavage, A no-no here, but nothing I make is Risqué or Sexual in thought or design. All my Ai work is at www.deviantart.com/Deezaster my personal website which shows some of my papercrafting work, and photography is also a Wordpress blog style site, www.card-tastic.com A lot of my older photography is at FlickR but I really haven’t been doing a lot of that for several years, www.flickr.com/photos/dee-walsh/I have already told Huronna that I am very comfortable with using my artwork, from Da or my website. I’m very happy to allow you to also use my photographs, with only one stipulation none of the photos of my son can be used, they are all clearly labeled in the description as Aidan, or my Son. Any of the other people photos however can be used. I also read about what’s in a name here, so I thought I would hit up on that. I started talking online in a chat room in 1996 called Excite Chat, which became Excite Virtual Places. I used 2 nicknames online back then incorporating my real name, Deelited and Deezaster, Deelited was my chat name and Deezaster was my avatar painting name. I soon had to create a third name to chat so I wouldn’t get disturbed and constantly asked to paint avs and that was Onedeeful. Which I never used again, however I created an account at Renderosity and DA 22 years ago using Deezaster. Deezaster fits me because I truly am a walking Disaster and my injuries over the years reflect that (for another time) lol After that I also played WoW(World of Warcraft) and Diablo and because I was a super fast leveler I had to make a character to play while my guild caught up in levels and I named her Dayleigh - Day because that’s when I played her and Leigh, my real middle name, not to confuse the issue but, it’s my YouTube nickname, which is also my Instagram nickname. So If you see me around on Instagram or YouTube it will be Dayleigh01 So I babbled a lot again, I’m sorry, hopefully this helps you with knowing a little more about me. Thanks again for the lovely welcome.

Hi Grassy, Lovely to meet you, Please do, if you have any questions please feel free to ask, I also use glitter and sparkle in my papercrafting, we try to be shed free, of course lol… Hi Tilly, lovely to meet you, we share the same or similar problem, my pc went “poof” in June it literally caught fire, so I’ve been scrimping and saving for a new laptop, I’m hoping by December. Hopefully then I can learn how to create beautifully like you all. I love scenery too, especially valleys rivers, flowery fields etc, but also love a good dilapidated building overgrown with nature and that sort of thing. Hi Mary, lovely to meet you, if you have any questions please ask away, I’m so happy you like what Huronna shared and hopefully there will be more. Thank you. I have noticed that Ai brings issues with making tubes, from a background perspective, I use Canva to remove backgrounds when I make ephemera. I use my Brother Scan n Cut to cut my ephemera out for journal/memory books and it has to be able to read the image from the bg so it’s crucial to have a clear bg, so I typically make it translucent. I have posted a post on my Website to show you guys what Canva does, hope it may help you,out - it’s not always perfect sometimes it gets muddled, but it really is a 1 click of the background removal tool. You can view the example here: card-tastic.com/2023/10/removing-background-in-canva/

Oh my word Dee, what a treasure trove you have. I love your goblins and glimmers. I am so happy to learn about Canva. Can you successfully remove backgrouds with the free version. I assume if you use a png you can save the transparent bkg as a png as well.
I dabble in photography myself but do not have much online, I like scenery and of course family stuff.
I will look into this further, thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Flagyrl, I believe You can save any image in Canva as a png or with a translucent/ transparent background, no matter what you started with, as you actually start out with creating a new design, then decide how you want to save it and in what format etc. I am unsure if the free version has the magic tools with background removal, as when I originally got the paid Canva it didn’t exist as part of their features, that feature came about I think in 2021. I’m sure in the free 7 Day trial it probably showcases it, but I cannot be sure. I hope that helps clarify things somewhat. ~Dee

Welcome Deezaster! You have found a grand new playground here with friendly people and tons of assistance. I hope you have a great time and become one of the family!
I am 70. I live in SE Virginia across the James river from the Norfolk Naval Base (of NCIS fame.) In the middle of the river directly between us is the spot the Ironclad ships Monitor and Merrimac fought during the Civil War. This is a very historic area; Fort Monroe is in sight to the East from where I stand at the edge of the river. I live 1/4 mile up a residential road in a 1943 bungalow home with an attached garage. Hubby was in the USAF and is retired. We met 42 years ago next month. I got into PSP animation in 2004 and ©correct animation in '08 at Angel's Design before joining here. I learned to melt glass in 2003, I was a lamp worker making beads and small sculpture as well as jewelry and multi media art that sold in galleries for 14 years. I was a caregiver for my mom for 30 years - the last decade was a steady increase of care. She passed just shy of 100 in early '21 when I had Long Covid. I used to read science fantasy and I like Tarot and Astrology and my Wii. I had 30 years of dogs and then 10 years of cats; currently we have three. I'm not very technological, so I don't do much social media other than a bit of FB. I swim and walk a bit, follow the Eat Right For Your Blood Type diet and use the Noom app and have been successfully losing weight so am no longer morbidly obese. Oh! I also like to dye my hair vivid colors; generally purple and aqua. The dreary white made me sad. That's enough about me... I'm glad you are hear; have fun!

I subscripted for the free version which is good for a month, I spent about 30 minutes searching and no magic tool, a gazillion other options that would just confuse me. About a month ago I found www.remove.bg/upload and depending on the image I use that, but it resizes the images, but you can get around that with ingenuity, but you still have to do lots of wee little areas. I also found www.zmo.ai/ it's about the same, but the free version has a logo, again, there is a way to get rid of that, the resizing isn't as much and again, lots of touch ups. But all in all it sure does save a lot of time. I've gotten so I know if either will work or not, and that's when misting comes in handy. It sure is easier then doing every thing pixel by pixel LOL and I've done lots that way

Huronna, Okay so in Canva, create a new image, it will be white, whatever size it doesn’t matter, then on the left side is the design menu, see the upload files ( it’s a cloud with an arrow) upload an image, then use that image by selecting it, it will appear on your new blank white image, Above your image You then will see a files icon, a trash can icon and see the … icon click on those … dots a menu pops down, set your image as background, it’s a square with lines in it and should be close to the bottom of that pop down menu, Once you have done that, select your image and across the top of your Canva window a menu should appear - with “edit photo” as an option, click on “edit photo” and a menu will open on the left side, in that area is Magic Studio which has BG Remover. If you have the ability to use it, it will be there. Hope this helps ~Dee

Hi Smilyn, thankyou for your lovely welcome, I know roughly where you live, I lived in Fredericksburg VA and King George Dahlgren when I first moved to USA, my husbands family are all Navy and his grandfather taught at the Norfolk Naval Base for many years after active duty was finished. He was a brilliant sailor, Sadly he died several months after I met my husband so I never really got to know him, but the family spoke highly of him. My father in law who has also passed now, worked for the Navy Nuclear program for many years he was a Nuclear Engineer, and everyone in the family except my husband were Navy or Civilians working for the Navy. I know that my FIL and GFIL both also worked at Annapolis, anyhow I actually did a tour of Norfolk Naval Base in Feb/March with my FIL 1999, I was pregnant with my son, we also spent 2 weeks of every Summer at Nags Head from 1999 - 2008 the year my FIL passed, Such a strange time He died on October 14th (anniversary approaching)and my Mum Passed February 14th(13th here ) the following year. I never went back to Nags head but I know the family still do every few years. I was very close to my FIL and in all honesty I didn’t really get along with the rest of the family, I wasn’t American enough for them… (that’s putting it nicely) lol It’s very hard being a caregiver my son is Autistic and has Grand Mal Seizures and other issues, so I gave up 15 years of doing anything, but caring and giving him everything I could possibly give. I mean you don’t really give up things when it comes to your children, it’s part of being mum or dad, but I never even had a babysitter, so I truly went nowhere and did nothing lol, He’s 24 now and doing well but the seizures are still pretty much a monthly thing and probably will be for life. He will never drive and probably never work, but he’s come a long way in his short life, and I’m ever so proud of him. Sadly the strain of it all affected our marriage and we separated when he turned 14, but we are still good friends, and he moved in with his dad when he turned 20 who decided it was his turn to do more with his care, and who lives less than 3 minutes from me, we have always had an open door policy with our son, so technically his house is mine and vice versa. I couldn’t imagine it any other way tbh, it’s so much easier for your children, anyhow, my partner and I have been together 7 years and living together for 6 years and we are both set for the rocking chair and gossip about the neighbors terrible lawn care, years lol…blabbered again, Good grief I sound like a bleeding heart, I’m really not this terrible, life is great lol… truly.. I love that you dye your hair vivid colors that’s so dang awesome, i love it. I have tried to lose weight in the last few years and it seems to work for awhile then goes backwards lol, We don’t eat poorly, we never eat take out, and cook everything fresh, so it’s just weird but it is what it is, so Kudos to you for sticking with it. I recently gave up smoking for the upteenth and last time and have gained weight doing that, but I have come to the realization the weights better than the cigarettes so… here we are 😆
