[glow=red,2,300]I sure missed you guys!![/glow] Here's the full saga. I was at Dave's by 10 am and it was the video card. He popped in a new one, didn't even charge me for labor and off I went back home. Only about 15 minutes away. I attach everything and turn it on and nothing on my monitor. It HAD worked at Dave's place. So just to make sure I took hubby's monitor and interchanged them. His worked on my computer and mine was DEAD!! So I called Dave and he said he had only 1 monitor. So I went back to get it....came home connected it and nothing......that's what I said NOTHING!! How could this be? I called him, and he told me to do a couple of things and still nothing. So he said he was closing up shop at 3:30, and if it was ok with me, he would come to the house and see if it was something I was doing or he would bring my $$ back. The waiting was horrible. Using my hubby's computer is close to worse than not having one at all. Dave got here, and it was the monitor. He tried everything and nothings. So he left and it was now 4:45. What was open? Did I want to go to Walmart and buy the same brand? So I went to CompUSA which is about 20 minutes in the opposite direction. Got a 19" Samsung and it was only $130. That was $40 chearper than the one I bought from Dave. But it was a special "re-opening" sale or some propaganda. Stopped at Subway for New Year's Dinner HA HA, watched the end of the Pitt football disaster, hooked up the new monitor, dimmed the brightness and [glow=red,2,300]HERE I COME....READY OR NOT[/glow]

A very old tag that I used on non-grated sites because of the url. I was never able to get permission to omit it so I could never use her on AL2

Let's see what I forgot to mention. We talked about building a new computer, I said I didn't want Vista, he said, well you have your XP discs and they are transferrable to another computer, plus they are valid with support until 2014, so he would use that.
Then I asked him about transferring all all my info from my old computer to the new one....no problem.
So them I asked him....if my computer crashed and died, would he still be able to retrieve the info. Yes, but it would be a little more difficult.
So then I asked him for his opinion about a new computer. He looked at everything I had in it and the fact that in 6 years almost 7, I had only 1/2 filled the hard drive....he can't add any more memory to it because the processor or motherboard or something was only an 80 GIg capacity and I had 40 gig memory. If he put any more on it it would lock up.
Then he said...there's no reason for a new computer, not until this one dies. Then I'll make you one that will last just as long LOL Now that is an honest man

Where I used to work, they used to go buy these new large flat screen monitors on sale (19 inch, 20 inch, 21 inch wide screet etc ). They lasted about 6 months to a year and then they would go bad. I kept telling them ya get what ya pay fer!!!!! I have had mine for two years now (I think) and it is a Dell, but it was back when they still cost big bucks. lol

My first flatscreen monitor was an Acer and it lasted forever. I had even bought the extended warranty and it did not die until two days after that extended period. Lamb bought me a much bigger Acer for my second flatscreen and I am happy as a lark in a tree! I am so delighted that the computer wasn't more messed up like a dead hard drive or bad bios or something! I am delighted that you are back!

Wow, what an adventure!!! And YES, we did miss you....tons!! My first computer was a Gateway and then when it died I got an E-Machines, and what a piece of crap that was!!! Nothing but trouble from day one. Then when the power supply bit the dust I got this Dell with a Samsung monitor and I love them both. I have heard a lot of bad things about Dell, but I haven't found anything I didn't like about it yet. I will keep XP till I die because I refuse to use Vista. lol Supported or not, it is here to stay.
I am so glad you could get back up and running even though you had trouble doing so. We went to Pizza Hut for personal pan pizzas for our New Years Dinner so don't feel bad. lol We are in for the night. Hubby went to bed at 6 p.m. He worked all night last night and never went to bed today so he was exhausted!

Anyways, welcome back Huronna and enjoy your dinner! I'm glad that you were able to get a monitor.
