My old printer gave up and I had to buy a new one. I've assembled it but can't get it to print. Is there something I should be doing . This time I opted for a cheaper one with not many instructions. I thought it would be simple. I'd appreciate any advice.

My printer is from 2011, it was one of those that supposedly you could print from any device as long as it was on the same wifi. But..... a couple of years ago, our router was changed and we got a new wifi number and password. Turned out that my old printer had no way of changing from one wifi to another. I think that was a function they incorporated in 2012. So I just connected the printer to my pc with a cable and it works fine and that way my husband can't just print anything and everything he wants from his, he has to sent it to me and than I'll print it...if need be
I dread getting anything new now, since I seem to be not as savey as I once was

Did you select wi-fi installation or is it hard wired by usb cable? Check your settings.

When we got a new wi-fi, Sid can't print from my work printer (I am a writer, so I have a high-end printer to do professional-quality jobs) and Sid wants to print out his pictures on my printer. He can't now, so we just hard wired it with USB cables to his 9-year old laptop - which he refuses to part with, and who can blame him because technology just gets harder and harder instead of the opposite. Did you download all the drivers and software? You can get the user's manual online, plus any software updates. Sometimes there are forums that might help you too. But if you get frustrated or desperate, there is always the hard docking with cables option too.

If it is a wireless printer, make sure you have it set up on your network. And make sure that you have the correct driver installed for your printer.

I am going to ask a neighbour to help with this. I think I need to install drivers software. I agree Huronna...the older I get the harder everything seems. Thanks everyone for your input.

I know how you feel Silk when it comes to technology and aging. LOL I can't get my old PSP9 to work on my pc but it works on my laptop but the battery goes low everytime I try to make something at PSP so I have to keep it plugged in cause I refuse to buy a new battery at my age. LOL My printer is older too and sometimes it won't print and when I finally get to print, it was something really simple. Duh!!
