Funny how we can notice something is just not right with our animals. Something as small as a strange poop. They say....Ferret owners must be the most “anally aware” pet owners on this planet! ok bear with me but...normal poop is usually brown and of a fairly firm consistency – it looks a bit like a squirt of toothpaste! Well Powder was eating but when she would "go" it was like _ _ _ _. I thought maybe it was a blockage, so called the vet yesterday and brought her in around 3PM. No blockage, not tumorous growths pushing on her intestines, but when he did a fecal smear (poop smear) it was nothing but yeast. No normal backeria. Who knows how this happens. But had to get her normal bacteria back so now she is on metronidazole which you might now as "flagyl" (sorry Flagryl) and it is the most bitter medicine one can take. I don't care what they try to flavor it with, it doesn't work. This morning Joe scruffed her and I had treats ready so it wasn't too too bad, but tonight Joe was asleep and I had to be the total meanie. If a ferret could spit....she sure did, even my glasses had flagyl on them. Now thankfully she has had a could o treats and is peacefully asleep. Twice a day for a week and then once a day for a week.....do you think she will still love me? Attachment Deleted

Yeah, she's still gonna love you.
But that doesn't mean that you won't be required to atone for such "abusive" treatment (in the form of extra treats and cuddles) for a while.
Hope she's back to normal soon.

I don't think for a moment that Powder will forget how mean you're being and you'll have to work hard to make up for it She will however lap up your endeavours to get in her good books again. How well I remember giving my kitty his tablets then going away feeling I'd won only for him to spit it out when I wasn't looking. She will love you regardless.

Poor baby, animals know. She doesn't know me but I am a healer. You'd think they could flavor that stuff.

The vet said it was bubble gum flavored....still doesn't get rid of the unpleasant or sharp metallic taste

Yes, she will still love you. Went thru that with Gracie when she came home from the shelter with URI. She spit those liquids everywhere and ran when she saw me coming towards her, but she cuddles with me and loves on me anyway.
Hope Miss Powder will be back to her normal self soon.

OH Hedie I can realate. Has many time I had to meds. I give them treats and tone, When one got that chance I would get bit. Even if Ron helped me I would be the one to get bit. It was so anoying. It would even make them mader if I picked them up and kissed on them. So yea I can relate. I sure hope Pouder will feel better soon.
