I warned y'all I would return! lol. Here are some tips on freebies you can find on the Internet. If you recall, I mentioned a free paint program called GIMP. If you have been following Animation Lessons without a program because your budget doesn't allow it (yet), GIMP is a great alternative to PSP or other commercial programs. Is it any 'good' you ask? Well, I'm providing some links to my photobucket web site that shows what can be done with GIMP and both free brushes and commercial brushes. The birds brush was $9.00 over at daz3d.com and the clouds were free photoshop brushes. I am more into art and cartoon/comic art than animation, but if there is enough interest I can do a simple animation tut using GIMP. All images are non commercial and you can do with them what you like. If you want the raw image, just email me and I'll send it to you as a reply. I use both JPG and the PNG formats, file size is 1600x1600. If you are on dial up, tell me so and I'll reduce it to 320x240. That is still a good size to work with. The clouds.jpg file is me messing around with making clouds from 'scratch'. As you can see, it is rather flat and is many times the work of using a brush. birds-2.jpg was simply a matter of mapping two colors to the scene and clouds.jpg was simply a matter of click, click, click-drag done. NB: No artistic ability was harmed in any image. Next time I'll show how to animate the cloud brushes such it will seem as if a storm is coming. Enjoy the images and I'm always an email away if you have questions.

I have heard of Gimp, of course, but it would be 4th in line for me to learn of the simple programs.....nevermind the harder ones I'd like to learn. I like that balck and white one, too.
