Yes, it's kind of a Grassy Pity Party moment.
OK, so I got my vision largely corrected except for this one condition called nystagmus, which basically means my eyes won't hold still, and if my eye moves, my hand moves too.
So I have spent the past two hours working on Lesson 14 at Chick's. Oh Lord yall, it is awful. It looks super bad. And I have drawn and redrawn it and I can't get it good enough to show in the homework thread. Technically it is correct, but there is an aesthetic element to the lesson and you can't just slop something together and call it finished.
Which of course I am thinking ahead to vectors and I realistically do not think there is any way I can do a vector since you need a steady hand for that right.
The freehand selection and pen tools are not going to be good friends of mine, and they are important.
But I also don't want to be treated special, so I don't want to be excused from any lesson just because it looks awful.
So that is my dilemma. I know vectors are a super long time away because I still have likely 75 other lessons to go through, but I am already worried.
And I know all the other lessons build upon what I am learning today, so what's a gal to do if today's lesson is really hard?
Practice I know. But what else?
WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
OK, this moment of pity is now over. Thank you for listening.
We now join the regularly scheduled program already in progress.

Oh grassy.. I've had those moments too when I thought it really sucked! I did the best I could and sent it in.. come to find out it wasn't as bad as I thought, at least to them... as far as your eye goes maybe you need to rest for awhile.. and don't worry about the things of tomorrow.. hang in there girl..

Thanks you guys. I just want to make ducks and bunnies and piggies and cute fun shapes. I want to do everything the big girls do.
I found something worse than the pen tool - the airbrush tool LMAO! Oh Lordy! I am going to go ahead and post my result on my homework thread. I put a blue background behind it and it's not *too* bad. I see the next lesson is plugins, and I feel much better because I know a little something about plugins. Maybe we'll get a new one to use too?
I guess there's just some tools that I won't really use so much.

OMG it passed! I am so happy! I passed I passed I passed! That is the hardest lesson I have ever done in my life. Man, I hope the Intermediate ones aren't that hard LOL.

Grassy, I went to look at it and though I can't comment on it there, I can here. I thought mine was pretty ugly also. I can do a little vectoring, but free hand just forget it. I think you did prety darn good, and wait til you use that huge piece of lace to make another lesson, you will use it in a much smaller version and lots of them and they will be so pretty all together...just you wait.

Oh THANK YOU! I was thinking mine was ugly as a pig and mine was the only ugly one anybody ever did. Hee. I want to do the vectors so much! So they are not drawn freehand? That is the best news I have heard all day!

Well Grassy, there are vectors in every set of regular lessons so far and I can't do them very well, but I do my best and if that doesn't pass, then I guess I don't pass. All I can do is what I can and do it the best I can. Hang in there, even my bad vectoring has passed...so far. lol

Grassy, I think if we do our best with those lessons that is all anyone can ask. The first few lessons in intermediate go really fast I think. I just did the one with the locket and it didn't take much time at all. Some of mine in beginner were laughable.

Grassy I sympathise but you are not alone. I can't manage much mouse work and those lessons that require it I just muddle through but I do mention my dilemma to Wigh. She is very understanding and although we'd love to be able to come up with the goods it's not a life and death scenario... frustrating for us though it is. There are some things we do well .

I just wandered over there to have a look-see... You're doing very well Grassy. Everyone has their own area of expertise. And we all do the same things differently. Hang in there!!! My hands shake so bad some days that I can't tube anything. Other days I'm fine.

Good grief. I had to replies go into cyberspace. I need to restart the puter, I think.
Hey Grassy. I'm not a fan of the freehand pen either.

Thanks all of you for being so nice to me! I made some bracelets so I feel loads better. We all have our gifts. I just don't think mine will be that pen tool LOL. I will make you all nice big picture frames - just no little intricate things.
I am about to take a nice hot bath too and that always makes me feel good.
I can't wait to make piggies! I love piggies! I have seen so many cute vector ones and my turn will come. I just thought you drew vectors with that pen so I was freaking out.
I may tell Chick, but sometimes when I think I can't do something, it turns out I can so I don't want to say oh I can't do this and then have it turn out that I can do it pretty well.

Grassy, if it will help, I had some problems with some of the lessons too and Chick came to my rescue and said that what your results look like don't matter, it's the fact that you did the lesson, so, onward and upward I went.
You don't have to do the lessons in order, as far as beginner, intermediate, etc. As long as you do them all in each category, you can skip around.
I skipped intermeditate because a lot of them were hand drawn lessons, which I don't care for cause I don't have an imagination. LOL
YOu did good, be proud, and keep going, girl!!

You are so nice to me Susy! Thank you! I am just absolutely DYING to do Intermediate Lesson 6, but I think I need to do all the Beginner ones before I can go to the Diamond Text one right? LOL. You know it would be a sparkle one that I am so excited about. I thought mine was totally ugly - my lesson 14 - but apparently you make it smaller and you use lots of them in their tube and tiny form to do that heart, so I am not stressing so much about it. You know me - I just tend to get all a-twitter about stuff. And I want my stuff to look totally awesome and some stuff might just stink. We all have different areas of PSP where we excel. I guess my pen tool won't be my tool where I excel.

You don't have to do the lessons in order. As long as you finish each category to get your graduation certificate, you can do whichever category you want. Go ahead and do that intermediate one. I know you can read a tut and do it all now. If you want the tag, then DO IT! LOL Here's my lacey heart one. I just ended up making a wavey line down the side. LOL The pen tool was my enemy that day, and still is at times.

OMG you did so good! That rocks! Mine isn't as bad. I took some time out and had some granola and when I went back, my hand was steadier. I do love how my hearts and dots look. LOL, I don't want to miss anything good in the Beginner class. I just wish I would wake up tomorrow knowing all this stuff. I guess you all had to learn somewhere huh? Where did you learn all this hon? Is it all from tuts or did you take classes or what?

Never took a lesson in my life, til now. LOL I learned how to open PSP and click on New to get a canvas and how to use the tools and download filters from a woman that I met online. I met her in 2000 and we started PSP a couple years later when I got my first new computer. She knew how to do that stuff but couldn't do tuts so I taught her what I learned from tuts and then and we worked together. She was from New York and had unlimited phone for $25 a month so we did a lot together by phone cause I didn't have high speed internet then, I had dialup so I couldn't use my phone and be online too. She would tell me how she did something and I'd write it down then I'd hang up and go online and do it. LMBO Talk about antiquated ways of doing things, huh?
I'd say I'm about 25% taught by her and 75% self taught. I just kept doing tuts more and more til I learned things.
Unfortunately we don't keep in touch anymore because we opened a MSN group together and I came online one day and she was gone, needless to say with everything I had learned. Yep, she met someone else and copied and pasted everything from the group and opened her own group with this other lady. I had put all of the info into that group, she never lifted a hand. I should have known better, but, it's water under the bridge and I retired from managing groups not long after that.
In the meantime I had also met Marilyn online and we've worked together with PSP ever since. What I don't know, she does, and vice versa. LOL She's been a great cyber friend through all of these years. Don't know what I'd do without her.

You don't have to do the lessons in order as far as the groups of lessons are concerned, but I think they only want you doing one group of lessons at a time. In other words, I doubt they will start you a homework thread for Intermediate lessons if you aren't finished with the Beginners yet. There is a post over there someplace about that but I can't remember just where I read it.
I usually don't do my lessons in order either. I skip through and see which the easiest ones are, do them and then do the more difficult ones last. But I post them in order so it is easier for them to check them and keep track. Finish the Beginners Lessons first, then when you get the homework thread for the Intermediate lessons go right to whatever number you are wanting to do and do it.

Grassy, hon, you can do that tut anytime you want. You don't have to wait to get to Intermediate to do it. You just have to wait til you get to Intermeditate to "post" it.

Grassy You did good. I also had a time doing the lace and then in a later lesson it was great. I hated the first one i made too. I redid the lace about three times and finally just posted the results and passed. Later the lesson where you will use the lace came out great so do not fret over the little things, your doing great. Vectors can be went to any time. You don't have to go all though all the PSP lessons to advance. I went from the fourth set of PSP lessons to Vectors. I just had no interest in the next PSP lessons yet. I can go back to them any time. I found vectors are best done at enlarged to 500% in the PSP work area. I had to do that for my old eyes to see the little handles.
