OK, so I happily skipped over to the net to get Xenofex 1. Turns out it is not free either. So I found it for only $4.95. Yay. And it was from Rapidshare, a site I know and trust because I have been a member there in the past. So I go to pay my $4.95 and I think hmmmmm, that's weird - same terminology, same instructions, same pages, but who's this EZ Download? I thought no big thing. Then I got a call from my bank. Turns out EZ Download swipes Rapidshare pages and subjects its peeps to total nonsense. They fraudulently charged my card an outrageous sum, and the lady in the frauds division was asking me if they were my charges? I said the first one was cause it was, but once I found out it was leading me to a keygen site, I was trying to cancel my account. Then this IT lady got on and said this company has been stealing traffic from Rapidshare and making it look like people were going to Rapidshare when they were in fact being led away. I had about fifty windows open up too and my computer is a great big malware-y mess right now. I am in tears because I am so upset.

You can put anything on Rapidshare, but you pay to have an account if you want the fast downloads. A lot of the Artists That Allow are on Rapidshare. I did end up getting a free Xenofex 1 on 4shared, but I am scared maybe it's just a demo or something. But that whole topsite thing has me dazzled. Once I paid for my account, I was told I had to download something called Bit Torrent, which Lammy said to totally stay away from because it's like Napster for computer programs. I just feel awful.

Awww Grassy I am so sorry that this happened to you. There is just so much of this going on on the internet, you can never tell if they are legit or not. Hope they got it straightened out for you.

Turns out Xenofex 1 is in fact very very free. These companies charge a download fee, they say, so that they can bring you inexpensive programs, well it doesn't get much cheaper than free. I was played. It really hurts you if you are not computer literate, and I am by no stretch of the imagination computer literate. I wonder if there's some classes I can take to get better?

Lammy's mad too. Not at me, but at the topsite that did this. I swear it looked totally like a site I know, love and trust. So he laid it out: no buying anything online unless I can pay with PayPal and unless it is a major retailer or reputable company.

So sorry that you had a bad experience there Grassy... I don't trust any of them, not even pay pal.. I never pay anything on line... If they don't have a phone I don't order it... but then you can't even trust the banks or stores either, somebody gets careless and leave a lap top in their car with everybody's info on it or the hackers hack into the confuzers where they're kept ... so I guess nothing safe in the old world...

I'm really sorry to hear this Grassy. I hope you've gotten it all straightened out now. You just never know anymore who to trust and not trust on-line. I often wonder if technology has gotten out of hand.

It kinda stinks. They opened two accounts for me and charged my credit card two times, but they refuse to cancel the fraudulent account. I told them I never received the membership number on the second account, so they need to cancel it and they keep sending me emails telling me not to reply but saying they cancelled the one account. Um, duh. And I have no way to get hold of them. What I had to do was call my bank and have them cancel the card, which basically freezes my account, which is a drag.

Oh defo wiser now. It's just a bummer. I thought I was paying for computer time to download the program. I was OK with that. But they insisted that I download BitTorrent, which is a site you could go to for free if you are into stealing. I am not. I am using my Xenofex 2 demo until it expires, and I got Xenofex 1 as freeware. Lamb says you have to really watch where you're at sometimes because they will switch you.

I'm going to see if this will bump this up.
I thought it would bump up the messages about how I did the outling with Xenofex but it didn't. Gotta go find the thread. Sorry
