I'm sure most of you are already sleeping, but I just got back a little while ago and uploaded some photos to show you.
First of all, we stayed at the Mandalay Bay hotel which is at one end of the Vegas strip. It's one of the newer hotels and man was it spectacular. Our room was unbelievable. 550 square feet of deluxness (is that a word)
YOu enter the room
and in from of you are the two queen size beds.
Check out the TV , though we really didn't spend much time in the room. I think we watched some TV the first night we arrived while unpacking.
The bathroom had double sinks, that sure was nice, a separate tub, though it never got used, a shower and separate room for the loo
We were located on the 33rd floor anf the hotal actually have over 65 floors. From our room you could look up
or down
hopefully your not afraid of the heights
TheHotel is the convention center extension of the Mandaly. It's only about 1/3 or the size of where we stayed
The casino area was enormous. Probably a couple of football fields in size. But with the economy it was pretty empty all the time. I was in Vegas about 4-5 years ago and you couldn't even find a slot machine that was available. This weekend you had your pick of where ever you wanted. And yes, I play a bit and didn't win anything Sob Sob
We went to see CHER on Saturday night, Sorry no photos allowed in fact we had to go through metal detectors and had to check our cameras if we had them. The show was fantastic. She is quite the performer and the changes of costumes was amazing.
Sunday we say one of the Circe de Solei, Mystere, again no cameras allowed but what a spectical or talented performers.
After that show was over we took the local bus to old town where the original Las Vegas started. The Golden Nugget is one of the most famous places. And there was the spectical of light which is a covered dome area over Freemont Street The neon lights go along with whatever music is being played.
Going back to Saturday, we walked over 6 miles on the strip and to say the least my legs were feeling it. Plus everytime we went someplace to eat, I think the proportions were geared to people the size of elephants. I was lucky to eat 1/2 of what I was served each time and still felt like a blimp.
Check out time was 11 this morning but out flight wasn't due to leave until 7 PM.. So we had a leasurely brunch, went to the aquarium....here's a few photos...and of course you know you can use any of these that you like
Those are the komoto dragon, the largest lizard
Here's a pretty crocodile, if they can be pretty
Some Jelly fish
And a couple of lion fish
To waste some more time we played the slots and of course helped the economy a little bit more.
Then we had a couple of drinks and I took some photos of the lights in the bar that I thought were interesting
Then it was time for the shuttle to the airport and out flight back.
So now I only have one more day of my vacation. Tormorrow and I leave for Florida on Wednesday.
I hope you have enjoyed going to vacation with me.
