Have you tried using your pen tool, select create on vector and draw freehand tool or if you prefer point to point tool... That might work... at least it all I know how to do... Hopefully someone will have a better idea, like Neo or one of the vector peoples...
OH then you would use your text tool and make sure vector is slected...

I didn't even know you could do that! Is it possible to do it in two or three pieces and use a transparent background and then just connect the pieces?

I think this is the best I can do ya. I took the pen tool freehand style and drew along the top of the tube. Then used the text tool in the normal way......set to center and I aimed the cursor for the center of the line.....when I got that A sitting on the rocker, I clicked. Now a couple things to note. If you draw the outline right to left , the text will go on the same way.......I'm more comfortable drawing that way, so I had to click on a node and convert the path. That changes the direction of the line. Offset puts the text above or below the line. Kerning spaces the letters. It can get tricky if there is a tight corner on the tube. Oh .....hide the line.....lol

I did it the same way as Neo and here's what it looks like. Here's a pic from my files that I did when I first learned. LOL Don't know if it will help.

I don't know if this is what your talking about , but you can move them one by one and rotate them this way: Make your text on victor: Click on the little + next to your victor: You should see your text on the next line: Right click on that, and choose text to curves. then a character Shape then click on the Little + then all your text will show and you can click on each one by them self and move and rotate them where you want them. Don't know if this will help, but use it to move my letters.

That sounds easy to do Susy. Thanks for the instructions and screen shot. I am going to have to try that too.

I've done text on curves before, but never tried to go around the outline of a tube. Thanks. Learn something every day here.
