Thanks! :-) Are the bears nice or grouchy? You rock Sage! I live below you and to the west in Michigan. I am about three hours from Windsor, Ontario.

I would say Windsor is about 7 or 8 hrs south from here, not sure though...the bear are not to be played around with, usually they take off when they see you..we have had bears walk into peoples houses...it's the mommy bears with baby cubs that are very dangerous...i have never heard of anyone getting attacked though, you need to respect any wild animal...sage

That is true. As with any species, the most dangerous place in the world to be is between a mama and her baby.

I use to love watching programs with Timothy Treadwell and how he "lived with the bears" several months out of the year until he and his girlfriend were killed by them. To this day I can't get him out of my mind, but, in the last of his diaries that I read he had mentioned a mother and her cubs and how one was missing in the spring and they assumed she had died. The whole story is hearbreaking and very graphic.

That must the same guy and his girlfriend that I read about in National Geographic...all I could think was what a stupid person he was. Those were grizzly bears. We usually get a couple of black bears in town each year too....especially if they don't have much to eat in the bush.
