I'm sooooooo sad to see them go. I was outside walking past the nest to say hi to the neighbors dog and peeked under to see what they were doing. One was standing on the top of the nest and the other one was still hunkdered down. When he saw me he got scared, guess I startled him and he fluttered out and fell down to the ground. He flew a little ways, trying to land on the fence but landed on the ground. He then jumped up into one of the holes in the fence and got stuck for a bit. Then went down to the ground, under the fence to the neighbors yard and onto the side of a tree then onto the ground and disappeared. Haven't see it since but I haven't seen the daddy either so maybe he's taking care of it. The mama and daddy both coaxed the other one out of the nest and she's been taking care of it since then. Hopefully daddy found the first fledling. I'd hate to see it dead. Anyways, I, of course, took pictures of the one that stayed with it's mama and one of daddy coaxing it out before he took off to find number one. Here are the pictures:

they should be alright, great pictures, One of my birds made a nest, but didn't finish it, so no babbies, that's O.K there the ones that are mean and attack you.

They will be fine Barb. It was time for them to go. They will stay in the trees around where they were born for awhile....maybe even for a long time. You will still hear them calling their parents to feed them for another 2 or 3 weeks more than likely. You were a good "grandmom"!!

Anita, I probably won't be hearing them as the neighbors, who's yard they flew over to, were working on their deck, loud electric saw, and walking near them with large pieces of wood and they were scared away. I believe the mama followed the baby and as I stated before the daddy already left looking for the first one whom I accidently scared. There are lots of other robins and other birds around but won't be the same ones. I've heard that they may come and make another nest in the same spot. I have to take down the old one 'cause it may attract mites and such.

It's been a wonderful story Barb. Since I am in Aus. I wonder what sort of Robin they are. We have red, yellow, and pink....this one of yours seems to be a sort of rust colour. beautifl little bird.

They are North American robins. They are dark grey on the back, black head and their chests are red. Bright rusty red for the males and a lighter brown/red for the females. This is so they can blend in better with their natural habitats.
