Don't you get warts touching a toad? Oh that's an old wive's tale isn't it. There was one year when I was in Puerto Rico we had a toad explosion. It lasted about two weeks and I swear they were everywhere. I remember going to visit a friend in their apartment complex and was afraid to get out of my car because they were everywhere. Now I wonder why that was and it never happened again

That's funny. I have never experienced toad explosions, lol. Back in the day we used to go to the pond at the end of Grandpa's property and collect tadpoles and mom would let us put them in a fish tank until they were big enough to jump. The first one that jumped OUT was the last time we could do it inside. From then on they had to be out in the yard. Lol
Wonderful memories.

Had it been terribly rainy? When I lived in Georgia, we had monsoon rains and toad and frogs and salamanders were everywhere. I had a blast playing with all the critters. Such happy memories for all of us. But Junebugs? Nope. Not for all the nopes that noped in nopeland.

We have a season for "lovebugs", not the same as June bugs but just as pesky. We Joe and I drove over to see Betsy in May, they were rampant. His car was black (it's really silver) even after going to a car wash we had to pressure wash his car. And there were times we had to stop while driving, just to clean off the windshield as it was covered with them

Yuck! Right now the Mayflies are being yucky around here. They get so bad they have to close bridges and roads because they just pile up. Mayflies are terribly greasy and can cause road accidents. Bleh! Are "lovebugs" Palmetto bugs?

I always loved toads and frogs too. We have a stink bug problem here. This is the third year now and they come inside for the winter and fly around the lights when it gets dark. They hide behind photos on the walls and anything where they can hibernate. Very few things nauseate me but the smell of a stink bug is horrible.

Palmetto bugs are like huge cockroaches

Ewwww cockroaches! Yuck-O! I have never seen a Palmetto bug. Now I definitely don't want to. Do you have scorpions in Florida? We had them in Georgia. They were small, though. I gave them wide berth. Stinkbugs yuck yuck yuck! They do smell awful!

I use to catch frogs when I was a kid. Here in Iowa we have snapping turtles all over the place.

I am afraid snapping turtles would bite me,but I love box turtles. We have oodles of turtles up here in Minnesota.
