Well maybe next week, if it isn't 95 degrees. And tomorrow I will be singing though it will only be Wednesday. It will be my forever Friday. Sorry I didn't get here last night.....What a night at work. I was the "pee queen" and for the first 3 hours the machine was "down" so I was doing things by the old method. Spin, spin and looking at everything through the microscrope. It was like the old days only then hospitals were big with 200 beds, not 1200, like this one. A bit exhausting to say the least. The all was well until around 9:30 when the communication computer system went down. This means that the analyzers didn't receive the orders for the specimens and either you would have to program everything manually, which was bad enough, but then you would have to manually enter results, which of course can lead to errors. Immediately we contacted the IT and on priority they went to work to fix the problem. The next 15-20 minutes were emotionally exhausting. Do we wait a few minutes, do we start the manual entries (woe is me). Thankfully the systems were all back up in about 15 minutes and work went full speed ahead. And we all breathed a sigh of relief. As many of us work varying schedules, the "good bye" and good lucks" started yesterday. I will definitely miss many of my-co-workers. That's it for this morning.Have a wonderful day!

Goodness sakes. What a night! Just a good thing YOU can do the job manually. Sometimes I think these are lost skills.

Reminds me of the day about 23 years ago. I was working in a very busy craft store and a storm knocked out all the computers and we had to do everything manually. The young girl had no idea how to write receipts and add the tax. We had a tax card with all of the info but one girl said "I'm not doing this, it is too much work writing all this by hand" and out the door she went, never to return. lol
People have no idea how we did things back in the days before computers.
I'm glad all yours have been repaired and it was quick. A busy place like that needs working equipment.

They certainly did, good thing Huronna's been around a while. Anita's story reminds me that I remember when we as sales clerks counted back change in our heads to the customer after depositing money into the cash register. Good math skills. How many clerks do that today, even if the register tells me the exact change. I worked at JC Penney during the summers and one time my drawer was 3 cents shy. I was called into the Personnel Mgrs office. I was so embarrassed. Never happened again!!!

If I told you how bad today was, you wouldn't believe it. Definitely makes me realize I made the right decision. Right now my feet are throbbing . AT 10 PM we were finally caught up and joked around for a few minutes. One of the camera crazies was in her element and I'll post some photos after I see how bad they are LOL

I worked in the shipping office of Sydney's biggest and most fashionable store back then. I don't know how I ended up working with figures when it wasn't my favourite thing. I asked to be allowed to work on the fashion floor for a change one year and was placed in the French Perfumery area. I loved it but one day a bottle of very expensive perfume disappeared right in front of my eyes. I discovered how clever thieves can be. Very embarrassing. I don't know how I'd go working with pee hahaha! Flagryl the cash register was my worst nightmare.
