Hi all. I made my first Instant Pot meal today. I actually made another one, but Sue showed me how to do it. I did fish this time. It came out okay. Happy July everyone.

Just Bubs peekin' in on this HOT night. It's after 9 PM and still 102 degrees. Wishing everyone a very happy & safe 4th. (((HUGS))) And I'm really enjoying all of the 4th tags that are rotating. There is so much "great" talent here for sure!

Yikes Bubs, where are you? Arizona desert? Palm Springs? It was only (only?) 95 here this afternoon. No appts today so Joe is still calmly sleeping and I just got up. 9:30 Nothing really planned here, people were already shooting off fireworks last night, I'm sure there will be a lot more today. Bubs, the Banner at the top is on "each rotation" that means if you just reload this page it will change. I think there are about 40 of them

Good to see you Angel, glad you like your insta pot. My daughter loves hers. Waving at Silk, miss you but so glad you popped in. I understand. Yes Huronna, Bubs lives down in the valley, been hot down there. It's 87 here so very hot below the rim today. Stay cool Bubs.
I continue to do well, was out of the sling Tuesday and my sleep has improved. I was approved to get on the treadmill, very slow and easy. I thought I'd start at 2 mph for 10 min but was only able to do 1 mph for 5 min!!!
So, we were able to get rid of the carpenter bees that had nested in our old wood pile. They had been dive bombing me when I wanted to sit outside and enjoy this lovely weather. had been using some peppermint oil spray but that only lasts so long. So, off to the hardward store. Sprayed some insecticide designed for carpenter bees and yellow jackets, waited 72 hours and then plugged the holes. I had some insecticide foam you can use to fill cracks, we used it to fill in around the piping in our hot tub to keep the critters out. Now I can sit outside.
We're having BBQ ribs we have had frozen from when family was here. John bought some potato salad and coleslaw, it's not homemade but will do.

Hello to all on this late Thursday night. Someone is still shooting off fireworks and my little Abby has been a nervous wreck for way too long...poor baby.
Thanks for the reloading rotation tip Huronna. And thanks Flagryl for telling Huronna I'm in Arizona. Yep, it's hotter than hades down in the valley for sure! Glad you got rid of the pests so you can enjoy being outside...yay!
Have a great Friday everyone! (((HUGS)))

I guess we posted at the same time Margie, how are you? Getting hotter here Bubs, 90 tomorrow but nothing like what you are experiencing. We leave the skylights and windows open at night and it was 65 in here this morning, brrrrrrrrrr.
I've lost 7 lbs so far, the pain meds suppress my appetite but I'm diligent about eating well and enough. No sugar or high starches [no wine] so that has made the difference. Hope I can keep at least 5 off going forward, back into my skinny jeans.
Ordered some new computer speakers today. A few years ago I gave my very high end Bose speakers to my husband because he likes to listen to classical music while he works. I hardly use them but my cheapies are frazzled so I bought some small inexpensive ones for $35, good reviews for clarity and loudness. I don't see buying high end ones, take up too much space when I hardly use them.
I'm typing w/both hands now...Yea!!!!
Saw what looked like a PG doe this morning drinking at the bird bath outside my office window, a tad late in the season to deliver. We'll see if she hangs around here like others have done, we seem to have a birthing ground on our property.

I'm doing the best I can Flagrly. Take one day at a time. Went out my good friend Vicky today and she treated me to lunch. We have known each other now close to 50 years. We started out as penpals. Finally met each other when we moved to Iowa back in the 70's. Vicky is like a sister to me.

Hi everyone! How are we all today? So nice to see you Silk. I understand. Try to cool off Bubs. Yikes, hot hot hot. Lovely to see you too Margie! I am delighted that you had a nice lunch with such a good friend. How is your pain Flagryl? I am glad you are monitoring your eating. The pain meds make it so that a person doesn't feel like eating. I am glad you are staying on top of that.
I have been away for a minute, and boy Dove Cat has let us know how she feels about that. We've taken several daycations this past week to celebrate the 4th with various friends and family. Dove Cat is upset because we have left her alone more than is customary. We have given her some treats and played with her more and petted her and given her cat massages more so I think she has forgiven us. On the 4th itself we made a party for my mama and big brother. We had hotdogs and potato salad and chips/dip and lemon cookies. I think they liked that I made lunch and cooked. Ha ha. Yesterday, we went to our friend Renae and Ron's house and Renae did my nails with Color Street. It is a brand of dry nail polish that you peel and stick onto your nail and then remove like regular nail polish. I have pictures of the manicure if you want to see it. She taught me how to do it and then did my nails and hers both in under two hours. I love how quick and easy it is! No dry time and no smudging. Then we went on a party cruise on Lake Minnetonka. I love the water! That was a blast! Then we went back to Renae's house and ate Charcuterie that she had made. The meats and cheeses she had selected were dazzling. And she had olives and a ensalada Capreze. Life is so good. It has been a weekend of fun and food and friends and family and I couldn't be happier right now. I love you all.

Hi Margie, how nice to see a long time friend. friendship is wonderful Grassy, you have been a busy little girl, poor Dove, but I bet she loved all the attention when you came home. I went to your Facebook page and saw your nails. How cool is that, I'll have to good to see where I can get that. Today is nail day. They needed to be cut and so far 4 coats, one more to go after this one is totally dry. The last manicure I did lasted 3 weeks.
Just googled, it doesn't look like your nails will get much protection from chipping or cracking though. You'll have to let me know since you worked so hard with the nailtique to make your nails look good.

Huronna, I sealed the dry nail polish with Nailtique so I am still using it. I won't quit using that. I have thought of using OPI Chip Skip as a base coat, but we'll see how long this one lasts. I am not very familiar with this method. I know there is Color Street which I used that is not available in stores, but you can get something called Dashing Diva at Target and Wal-Mart, and you can get Lily & Fox online. They are all dry polish wraps.
Hi Angel! I forgot about you in my other post. Sorry.

````WAVING```` Hello everyone! I'm checking in for the 7th month of "I haven't done much on the PC... Sorry!"
Nerve pain in my chest has been a problem; I have doubled my medication. On the 4th the sensation was like fireworks going off in my chest. I joked to Steve that I could remember a time in my life when that might have been exciting - and he choked in his coffee before grinning. Ah youth. I am really struggling at the moment with doubled meds holding the pain at bay but causing brain fog and fatigue. I am at the 3 month point soon.
Later that night it was my turn to have a double take. We stayed up past midnight as the neighborhood seemed bent on a competition of pops and bangs; I got in bed in time to see the clock show 12:12 (we are fascinated by matching numbers lately - 11:11 - 222, things like that. Anyway; I got a text from him a few minutes later: "I'm sorry. I hurt my nose." In he came, up I got, and off we went to the VA ER. He had tripped and face-planted on our concrete sidewalk. He has wire rimmed glasses with the silicone covered feet: they were completely flat. The lenses were scratched but thankfully whole; amazing because the nose piece had deeply cut the bridge of his broken nose. His nose and forehead were raw; knee, shoulder and elbow were also abraded. The did very little but took forever. We were back in bed at 4am and exhausted for the next day and a half. I redid the steri strips twice in that time. They said he needed stitches or glue and only (eventually) applied Steri strips. They said don't put Bacitracin on them when you apply it nearby - then lathered it onto the Steri Strips later - causing them to peel by the next morning. Dr me to the rescue. I think the deep cut will heal cleanly, but his pattern of falling forward due to posture, gait, and weakness is becoming a real problem. The things that could have happened this time don't bear thinking. We had already said goodnight. I had moved from sleeping on the couch (since surgery - so I could be blocked in and wouldn't try to roll over) that night to my room upstairs and we had already said goodnight. Broken glasses injuring eyes, cracked skull, lying there unnoticed... Age takes courage just to not look. I'm going to try to get him to ask his primary for PT for balance and gait. Crossing fingers he learns to get his great head up again. Both his parents curled up with age. I snap at his heels like a Terrier about it, but lately haven't been about as much for some reason. ahem. Anyway... That was our 4th. The first holiday without my brother had me in the dumps too; we always had fun calls on hols.
I can't catch up with everyone, but Silk; so good to see a post from you. Flagryl; good to see you tying with two hands... you are doing so well. Grassy; I'm sorry about your friends and I have looked at Lily and Fox online. Hur; I hope you and Joe continue to get back up to speed. Hugs to Margie and Bubs... and everyone. Angel; we have one that Steve bought, but I still prefer my pressure cooker. I started cooking with one when I was 10. I have one that cannot explode now, but I miss the sound of the original. I used to cook by that sound, lol. I guess you had to be there. Flavors are SO good!
I have to go. Typing is one of the things that causes nerve pain in my chest and its increasing even though I have double meds on board. I just wanted to say hello and I am hanging in there.
Stay cool and stay safe!
So good to see you Milyn. and sorry to hear about Steve. Joe has been using his new walker religiously outside of the house. He even used it when he gets out of bed to go to the loo. After he's been up a while, he will put it aside and not use it while in the house. But you know he should have been using one a long time ago, that would have prevented many of his fall I think. ANd if Steve is have gait problems this may be one thing that he could use. Joe didn't want to because he felt it made him look old, but heck he is 79 today and that isn't a young chicken. and better to use one than to fall.
Huronna; I think it's vital for Joe to use his walker at all times. They can be a nuisance, but better than a fracture. Happy birthday Joe. Jules is here, Ben and Steph are on the way, with kitty. Milyn, I am so sorry Steve had a fall. I know you have lots of health issues and send hugs.
Oh Milyn, how awful for Steve...and for you given your pain. I sure hope things settle down and Steve heals well. John had some vertigo issues about 10 yrs ago and PT/pilates program got him back on track and his balance really improved. At 80, he's still going up and down our long steep driveway, with snowblower in winter. I hope Steve can find a program like that.
Silk, what fun...Jules, Ben and Steph with kitty. Perfect and I'm sure some good food in being stirred up in the kitchen.
Well, in one week my computer speakers died and my Keurig coffee pot bit the dust this morning. I'm a one cupper but tired of these Keurigs that don't last long, so I bought a different brand that also uses fresh ground coffee with single use water reservior. We'll see how this goes. I need summatra low acidic coffee and plan to buy some Matador beans at our local vendor. I can grind myself!
Drove for the first time today, got a mani/pedi. French whites on fingers and toes.
