Oh Joy, if it isn't one thing it something else. Joe hasn't fallen in about 2 months and Thursday when he got up form his computer chair, he doesn't know what happened, but he slid to the floor. He said he hit one of the drawers on the way down and he has a bruise on his back. it look like a "rug burn" though we don't have any rugs. He managed to get up himself with the help of the step stool and my saying I would call 911, that got him more motivated because he didn't want to do that. I told him to take an Alleve Thurs night but he didn't. He complained once on Friday and again I told him to start taking some OTC alleve or Tylenol. so he takes one and expects miracles. He got up this morning at 5 and took one and played on his puter for a while then went back to bed. He started mumbling around 11 about maybe it was a broken rib or something so I told him to go to the ER, mumble mumble. I told him he better decided what he wanted to do because I have an appt on Tuesday and no matter what I am not going to cancel it again. I have had to cancel a bunch of appts and reschedule and cancel in the past 3 months, So then he decides he would go to the ER at the VA , I asked him if he wanted me to go with (which is crazy because it will take hours and he has been driving. ANyway he around 2 and said they were doing a CT scan. ALl the googling I did basically said broken or bruised, the treatment is basically the same. I will keep you posted. I did not go, I went to the gym and then grocery shopping. Then came home.
He called around 4 and said they had one results but were waiting for the other and it would be another 2 hours. He called around 6 and Good lord, I don't believe it, He has two cracked ribs and his pelvis. They are keeping him overnight to see an orthopod tomorrow.
I don't know anything more at the moment, the nuse just called and asked what meds he took at night. so I gave her that list,
It's always something, just when the sun is beginning to shine, it gets dark again.

IT's fun, and not brain killing, tubing takes longer, but I only keep the easy ones. Been on the phone all morning. Joe, his two sisters, my brother, his niece and a friend from his church. Soon to go to the gym an the grocery store and then maybe word on the animation on the tag I already have done.

I'm hoping Joe is home and resting by now. Hard go. Thanks Bubs. I've been organizing and getting everything ready. Starting the process of packing away/changing closets to exchange winter for summer attire. Need to find some short sleeved shirts for after surgery even though I did buy a couple of surgery tops. We went through our pantry and freezer and have filled out our meal planner from now through mid-June and made grocery lists to accommodate. Going to try some frozen dinners, new experience. I'm going to make some chicken soup and for the first time do a pot roast in a crock pot, I've always used the oven but it's getting warmer here so don't want to heat up the house. We don't have air conditioning here in the mountains, never needed it. Rarlely gets into the 90s at this elevation. Our list includes Huronna's recommendation of Michael Angelo's lasagna.

Spent half the day at my PC and everything with me is ok. then I drove to the VA and spent the rest of the afternoon until 6 with Joe. He's not a happy camper, after his walk this morning donn the corridor with the PT person, he preceded to puke and has a migraine headache. I left about 6:30 and thankfully there wasn't a bunch of traffic, even though it was rush hour. I'm pooped and even speaking to one of the Docs, I still don;t know what is going on. I hate this as I can see him going downhill in my eyes, and here we go with another long haul.

Well, Rats!!! Not a good sign. I'm sure it's hard to pinpoint. Movement is not working for him. Let's not get too far down the road with this Huronna. I know that's your fear. One day at a time. Breathe. That's all you can do at this point.

What a difference from one day to another. He was allowed up out of bed without assistance, using his walker (Called Harriet) He was able to go to the bathroom himself, no IV’s and we had a pretty good few hours, He wanted to go for a walk around the floor so we did that for about 10 minutes, and then when I was going to leave he walked me to the exit area. . Then regarding the extra fluid in the brain, they plan on scheduling a test tomorrow, hopefully, to see if the results show that a shunt will be helpful. If the results are positive, then they will arrange for a shunt, if not, then who knows where we go.

Put this on the wrong thread.... Here is an update on my situation, I had to compose this because too many people were asking and saying they wanted to call. I just don't want to be on the phone all the time, so I just sent this e-mail to everyone. Guess I should update you all also.
Sorry I have not contact you, but the past few days have been hellacious. I apologize, but the drive to the VA takes almost an hour if no traffic, and the return leaving Joe around 5:30 takes even longer as it is rush hour. After spending hours at the hospital and waiting to see the doctors for any information , it is totally exhausting. After Joe fell on Thursday, he started feeling pain on Friday and worse on Saturday. He drove himself to the VA Emergency room and the first things they did was CT scans and from those results did MRI. They were checking on his hardware in his back from the surgery in 2017. All was well, but again the brain showed some possibility or increased ventricular fluid. There is a possibility that they may be causing his gait problems, his losing his balance and falling. They also encountered an old fracture in his pelvis, but since it was already healing , nothing was to be done with that. He also had two cracked ribs. But again, they are treated with painkillers and time. So no surgery for these, thank goodness. Tuesday was terrible, he had a migraine all day and no matter what they gave him, it would not go away. Finally in the evening, as a last resort, they gave hims some kind of cocktail, and by morning it was gone. What a difference from one day to another. Yesterday, He was allowed up out of bed without assistance, using his walker (Called Harriet) He was able to go to the bathroom himself, no IV’s and we had a pretty good few hours, He wanted to go for a walk around the floor so we did that for about 10 minutes, and then when I was going to leave he walked me to the exit area. . The regarding the extra fluid in the brain, they plan on scheduling a test tomorrow, hopefully, to see if the results show that a shunt will be helpful. If the results are positive, then they will arrange for a shunt, if not, then who knows where we go. I’m exhausted when I get home, and have to talk to his two sisters, so this is the only other way to communicate with everyone."
They did get the test scheduled so it will be completed by the time I get to the hospital
