My my my. The older we get the more we fall apart. My Dr told me that you can suddenly be very allergic to things that never bothered you before. I was never bothered by poison ivy when I was young but now I have a horrid time if I get near it. We have it all over the ranch and found out my allergies had changed when we were building the house here in 2012. It can happen with anything he said. I go see my Surgon tomorrow morning. My therapist said I graduate if he says ok. But the last week my left leg started trying to go out. Do not know what he will say. I tiold my hubby if he wants to operate on the left leg I hope he gives me at least a couple weeks before he wants to.

Whispy, I was very allergic to poison ivy when I was young. All I had to do was walk past it and I got it. The last time I had it, it was everywhere. I can still feel the itch and weeping blisters. Face was swollen and eyes swelled shut. Mom took me to the doctor who gave me a shot and I had to go back in 2 weeks for a 2nd one and another 2 weeks for the third. Once the Ivy healed I haven't had it again. Sure thankful for that!!!

Oh my poison ivy stories....boy did they ever bring back memories. I am 5 years older than my brother, so I was the one that always had him tag along when I went out to play with "the kids". At the end of our street we had a lot of bushes and trees, and I remember making sort of houses in them and we would all gather and tell stories. This one time my tag along brother wasn't wanted by some of the girls, especially one who loved a couple of houses from me. I remember her telling me ( I was only about 9 or ten at the time) to take the little brat home, and when I said no, she started to push me around. Even when I was a kid no-on pushed me around, especially when I was protecting my little brother. so we started to fight and out of the corner of my eye I spotted a nice patch of Poison Ivy. I knew I had walked through it numerous times before and nothing ever happened to me, So somehow I rolled her into the patch and rolled her around. She wound up with a lovely case and I skipped and hopped all the way home LOL. I have not thought about that is over 60 years or more. But the memory comes back like it was yesterday. I often wonder if my brother remembers it.
Well I just finished this tutorial and yucko! the results went right into the recycle bin. What a waste of time.
Good luck with your appointment Whispy. I think I would need more than a couple of weeks after what you just went through. But then again, not a good idea to fall , at our age we can break bones and you don't want a broken hip.

I'm safe from your fury Huronna...way across the pond. I love the story...a little bit of payback is satisfying. I've heard of Poison Ivy but never seen it so I googled of course....such an innocuous looking plant. We have rainforests where I live and there is a giant stinging tree . I still remember the painful sting I received when I first ventured into a forest...'oh what a beautiful tree I said as I rubbed a large leaf.' I suffered for a whole day. Horrible pain. Best wishes for your appointment Whispy.

Well, we had to go see the chiropractor this morning. Sydnee went to Mom and Dad's last night as she decided she didn't want to go with us today. Her allergies are acting up anyways so it's probably for the best she didn't go. We stopped for breakfast (first time we had been in a restaurant since March. Then we stopped to pick up Sydnee and came home. we ventured out at to go to the post office to get our mail and it was full dark by the time we got back.
There is a little animal that I am absolutely in love with called a Quakka. They are from Australia....have any near you Silk? They are so darn cute. They always look like they are smiling. Google them! Will provide your cuteness quotient for the day!
Oh I deleted my whole folder of Laguna tubes - on purpose- . Somehow I was missing some that should have been there. So, I am redownloading. UGH Didn't realize I had that many or that I had spent that much $$ on tubes from PFD!! Yikes
Hope everyone is doing well! Sending you good vibes for your procedure Flagryl!

Well a lot has happened in the past three hours. Our AC died, dead! We called the AC company we use and we had two choices, repair and repair, then because of its age, something else would poop out. Sooo, we bit the bullet and opted for a completely new system....eeek gads, good thing our cruises were cancelled. The guy is actually starting tonight to take down the heat pump outside and then early tomorrow he will get all the permits. The the full system and redoing our duct system which is to old to use on the new systems, will take about two days.
Good thing we have overhead fans in all the rooms and very very high ceilings And tile floors so even though the temp is higher than usual, we can survive.

Oh dear, I can't imagine losing AC in that Florida heat. Whew...sounds like a smart move. I did a similar thing to protect my lil brother when a girl in my class kept calling him "cross eyed" [umbilical cord was tied around his neck when he was born and it was dicey in that birth canal]. Anyway, I warned her and she kept it up so I beat her up, gave her a black eye. I was 9 or so. That shut her up. Never did anything like that again, learned to use my words.
Anita, John is like you w/Poison Ivy. All he has to do is walk past it. The Tramadol is making me itch and the scar from my neck surgery is irritated. Gads, another week of this stuff. I've been cutting them in half and hope that works w/this poor shoulder going forward.
Whispy, I sure hope you don't have to have another surgery. I had 2 last year and it's tough, it's the recovery.
Ottie, love your pics so I'll check them out.
I'm feeling a little better but the arm still hurts like the devil, doc said it would but at least it's not swelling. John has to help me get in and out of my top and sweater. I was supposed to go w/John down to Prescott tomorrow as he has doc appt and I was going to shop at Trader Joe's but I just can't.
I hope you can sleep in that heat tonight Huronna.

Hi everyone. Poison ivy - yikes! My mama is a person who just looks at it and she reacts badly. I remember being a little kid and my mama got so sick from it, my daddy had to take her to the ER. Another type of allergy is perfume sensitivities which can develop as a person gets older. Unfortunately, this goes along with perfume INsensitivities in other older people as their sense of smell declines. I have noticed several scents that I loved as a young woman that I think just smell yucky now because because people have gassed me out with them. And I have also noticed that some perfumes that I wore and loved now smell like a wet muddy dog on me. How is everyone? Ottie! I am so happy to see you! Flagryl, I have been prescribed Tramadol too a time or two. I am allergic to many of the others. It helps a lot without making me feel like I have "Medicine Head." I hope your arm is OK. Whispy I sure hope you don't need a second surgery. Blah! Roni, how are you settling in?
Frankenbewb is acting up. I had my mammogram today. Oh joy. Fingers crossed. If I am negative on this one, not only will I be a four-year breast cancer survivor, but I will have done the last of the every six months plan and I can go yearly like the rest of you. So of course to celebrate, Frankenbewb decided to get a Lymphedema flare. But on the plus side, I have some really great cleavage going on due to the swelling. *I* could be a hoochie tube! Ha ha!
Gastroenterology sprang a Monday EGD on me, so I have to go to Rochester on Saturday just to get a COVID test. They will not allow me to do it at any other Mayo facility. And it has to be done within 48 hours of the procedure. I never even knew the Mayo Clinic was open on Saturdays! But I can go to Hobby Lobby and buy some beads.
But I am free as a little birdy for two whole days!

Mary the Quokka is an adorable little marsupial. I'm chuffed that you like them. We had to get a new AC two years ago . We have hot humid Summers but have very high ceilings and fans .Lots of large windows to get a cross breeze. Our Water Dragon came out of hibernation recently and is already soaking in the bird baths. Grassy best wishes for a good result from the mammagram. Flagryl I do hope your arm improves soonest.

Hurrona, you no hurt my brother story made me remember one of me and my little brother. We walked to school back in my early years. I am 3 years older than he so I was supposed to walk with him. He often dwaddled (made up word for meandering) along behind me but I would stay close enough to make sure he was ok. One day three older boys jumped on him and they evidently thought he was alone. Next thing my brother seen was me running toward them with my big Geography book raised over my head and beating the boys off of him. Needless to say they did not bother him any more on our walks to or from school. Now he was not unable to take care of himself. One boy that was bigger than him jumped him one day and he beat the boy off. Later the mother and boy came to the door and she told my mother that my brother had beat him up. Mother called my brother to the door and when the other mother seen how little my brother was she grabbed her son by the ear and was whipping his bottom as they went back to the sidewalk. I seen the other boy had a black eye. LOL

ShortiePolly, I Went to your Facebook page. Are the babies your grand kids? Love your golden. Looks like your golden is getting on in years but still beautiful. I love dogs and most other animals but some of the wildlife I can do without seeing. IE: wild hogs, grizzlies, skunks and several others. Enjoyed looking though. That you and by the way the babies are adorable.

Quokka what an adorable animal. One that I have never seen or heard of. How come I didn't see any in Australia Silk? Sounds like we are all protective with out little brothers. The AC people are here now, installing a brand new system. We had a never system put in back in 2014, but apparently they never updated our ventilation system in the attic and/or it was not the best system at the time. This one has a 10 year warranty . It wasn't too bad sleeping last night at all. we just turned up the overhear fan two notches and there was a lovely breeze. Opening up windows is a real no no because of the humidity. Everything feels damp when you do that. Shunks....Hey Whispy did you know people keep skunks as pets? Here's another story for you. In 2006 the National Domestic Skunk Show was held in Tampa. I was friends with a couple of the people in this organization because of the ferret organization, so of course I had to go. One person actually had 36 pet skunks and brought a bunch of them to the show. They had them in a pen and allowed one visitor at a time to go into the pen with them. I was even giving one to take to the judges to show when it was the tail competition. Here's some photos. 1, a bunch of different colored shunkies, 2 look into my eyes, 3 the fluffiest one of all Attachment DeletedAttachment DeletedGrassy, I love reading your posts, you always make me laugh at your attitude. I thought I was an optimistic person but you are 100 times more than I am. No matter what hits you, you get up and fight the battle head on with a smile. I wish your personality was infectious and I would definitely spread it around. Attachments:

Quokka Looks like a tiny Roo. They are too cute. The ears of a Panda. lol I agree with Hur on your positive attitude Grassy. You are so happy no matter what, although I know you suffer in silence at home, but you spread the cheer here even when you aren't well. Grassy states: "But on the plus side, I have some really great cleavage going on due to the swelling. *I* could be a hoochie tube! Ha ha!" OMG girl!!! Whispy, I need both of my knees done. The right one has been bad almost 20 years now. I am just not mentally prepared for that extensive surgery and my doctor told me not to do it until I was. Since John passed 6 years ago, I have no one here to help me and I have a pet, so that is an issue too. I am glad you do well on your new one. I know they told me total recovery would be close to a year, so keep up the good work.

The latest. Went to Surgon office for 6 week check up. Awesome was their exact words. I need left one done but need to call and set appointment 6 weeks out. Almost tempted to call and set it up. In another six weeks I should be ready. Just not sure yet. I have no more PT and released to drive. Yay. Then went to dentist and they had remade the. Uppers and lowers now I can bite something off. So went for a Steak n Shake burger and a orange freeze shake. It was so yummy. I have seen pictures of the little Quokka and they are so adorable.. Huronna, they can keep skunks as pets as long as I am not near them. Nope not my idea of a pet. Glad your getting a new air conditioner put in. Did you get a lot of wind and rain? You were on the “dirty” side of Sally.
Well not much else to say. Good night for Now.

It’s the Rainey season right now, and we are loving it. My water bill is really low because we don’t have to use our sprinkler system. I think waiting six weeks is a good idea. Take a little break. They started working this morning at nine and will be back tomorrow to finish. It rained a bit this evening and the temp dropped a little so we have a couple of windows open and an extra fan doing on our level, the overhead ones are working a bit harder than usual

LOL Skunks! Ha ha, When I worked for DoD, we had a little place for the smokers to go and smoke. I worked third shift in a call center for our warfighters, so when I went out on my breaks, I was alone. Our Federal Center was very nicely groomed. It was mating season for skunks. I finished my cigarette (I don't smoke anymore), swiped my card and opened the door to let myself in. A skunk ran in between the first door and the interior door and would not move! I was all "Go out skunk, I'm going to be late!" Luckily, one of the Guards came out to have a cigarette, and he chased the skunk away.
Huronna, did you ever get your AC situated? It's crazy about Pensacola. My sister used to live there.
Whispy, I love Steak N Shake so much! They have the best fries! I am so glad you got a treat!
My mammogram came back good so all is well in the world Yay! Now we just have to figure out why I keep getting the throat infections and we're good. That throat thing has spread to my mouth which is a bummer, but I have meds for it. And I get to go grocery shopping for some soft foods. YUM CITY! Mashed potatoes Baby!

Good morning all. ShortiePolly I just went to Facebook and requested you as a friend. Those pictures of your grandbabies are so darn cute to. Well I'm going to be another year old come Monday, Sept 21st. So instead of being 72 I'm changing it to 27. Oh how I wished I could. At that age I had my first born and he will be 45 next month. Chris was born in Torrance , California. Will keep you in our prayers Grassy. Whispy I hope you're doing well now? I'm ready to get this colonoscopy over with next month. I'm not crazy about taking that Covid-19 test , I have my opinion on it.

Rottnest Island is 18 kilometres (11 miles) off the coast of Western Australia. It's a 25-minute ferry ride from Fremantle, a 45-minute ferry ride from Hillarys Boat Harbour in the northern suburbs of Perth, or 90 minutes via ferry from Perth's Barrack Street Jetty. ....never went to western side of Australia, .....thanks for the info. I love little animals. Of course you all know that.
Glad your mamo was neg Grassy. at least something is going your way. Well, your going to be 27, Margie and I'm going to be 25 HA HA, hope you have a happy one.
AC install is a two day affair. They are having to take out all the venting in the rafters and install new up to date stuff, since the new AC I guess i more powerful and the venting is old. They should be finished late this afternoon. We are surviving ugh!

So pleased your mammo is okay, that's GREAT Grassy. Celebrate. Your electric bill will go down w/new system Huronna, wise move. Don't you mean 57 Huronna? I need to think that way Margie. I'm 47 now. Whispy, my thoughts were similar about the surgeries. I did my cervical last May [it was easy] and then the difficult lumbar in Dec. But, I have to wait at least another year to do the shoulder. PRP has helped I think, we'll see how much as time passes.
I took a whole tramadol the morning of the procedure, glad I did, but I have an interaction w/pain meds and my allergy drops and developed a terrible rash around the cervical scar on my neck. Reduced it back to half yesterday and was good. Had to take some Benegryl yesterday and it's gone now.
My SIL was told 10 years ago when she was 74 that she needed a knee replacement and she wouldn't do it. Now, after a fall and resultant hip issue doc is practically mandating her to get the replacement but she refuses. She lives in a nice independent living apt where she has access to extra care and does not cook. My concern is this issue will drive her to take more meds and over the long haul that's going to have a worse affect on her body. This lumbar surgery and its recovery has been significant, but it's a life-style change maker. There's no talking to her, her mind is made up so she'll have to live with the consequences. She also has memory issues and I suspect she's depressed.

I can dream can't I? Actually our electric bill isn't high in comparison to our water bill. Usually the electric runs around 125 a month, winter and summer. In the months where the temp is medium, it does get a little less. but it's all the other electrical things that run all the time. The water bill is a zinger though because we live in a deed restricted area, and we have to water the lawn. When it isn't raining, our monthly bill can go as high as 250+, but like right now during rainy season, it's less than 100.
The AC people went to lunch right after they turned it on. It is so quiet, even standing right next to the air handler you can't hear a sound. The temp has gone down from 85 to 82 and I actually can feel the humidity going down and my breathing is a bit easier. When they come back they will recheck everything and then remove all the old ventilation tubes that are in the garage.
I did call my trainer to cancel my appt today. Felling under the weather is not a good time to go work out. tomorrow is another day.
