Don't feel bad ladies. I'm on 800mg of IB. Supposed to be 4 x day, but I only take 2 so all my extra I give to my daughter because it helps her fibro pain. We do what we have to do. I also take Neurontin for Trigeminal Neuralgia. When her doctor gave it to her for something and it made her sick she gave it all to me. I can't see wasting money on expensive meds when someone else can use them. It's a sin what big pharma charges people especially with critical long term illnesses. You can't afford to get well.
Polly, so sorry to hear about your issue with that woman and her dog. I hope you are OK now.

When Joe left the hospital about his surgery and he was on Lovenox and coumadin to prevent blood clots. but then most of you know what happened after he got home and wound up in the hospital for another month and acute nursing home for two. but the discontinued most of the meds he had been given. Lovenox is an injection that I had to give him twice a day. I had three months supply of it that is 180 doses at $100 each dose. Yes you read that right, $18,000 and it all went down the drain. Totally closed packages and the pharmacy would not take it back, I tried the shelters, but they don't use anything like that. Thankfully our insurance had covered it all, but what a waste of money. It is a real shame.

OMG all that med, down the drain, well not literally, but geez, looks like the nursing facility could have used it. But I guess they really can't if it isn't prescribed for anyone else.

I can't keep up with all of you. I have to buy my statins from Canada. Planet drugs, they are great to work with. John took some birthday cake down to our neighbors who give us eggs. Their little girl just turned 6. She made me a belated birthday poster, very well done, and stuck it in our mailbox. What a treat. I had my book club zoom today. It was good to see everyone. The book I recommended and we read, The Weight of Ink, was enjoyed but one thought she was reading a book for a graduate school class! It's historical fiction and some people don't like those kinds of books. I LOVED it, best book I've read in eons. Oh well.
My truck driver cousin and his wife drove over to my parents cemetery and took flowers and took pictures of the gravestones. For my grandmother, too. How sweet is that. Now I have some really nice pictures for my family tree and profiles on FindAGrave where I volunteer.
Gonna go gain some weight by eating more birthday cake.

Good morning...We have a very good medical system here in Aus.and I consider us to be very lucky. I have an opiate prescribed but after a very bad experience with them in the past try not to take them unless I am desperate. I take Codeine though. Speaking of waste...when I had my second hip replacement I was given a unit of blood but there were two units available...the one not used was left sitting and went to waste. I heard a nurse complaining about it...this when there are calls for people to donate because of the shortage. I wonder how often it happens. Flagryl....how lovely to receive a birthday poster from the little neighbour. I am one who enjoys historical fiction at times. I want cake.

Here the blood stays in the blood bank until you need it silk, even if it is your own blood that you had drawn before surgery. If not needed it will be used where needed. My insurance refused to pay for the oxi-codon they gave me at the hospital. I do not know why they refused but my charge was only about $15 so not complaining. Have not seen all the bills yet. I have been prescribed some meds I had bad reactions to and quit taking then dr took it off my meds list. I need to take the left overs to the prescription disposal place in town. I tried to do that with dads scripts when he passed away but no one was doing it at the time so Sheriff's office finally took them. Update. My therapists have discovered my left hip is having a problem so we have been working trying to strengthen the muscles. They say when I walk now the hip comes way out to the side when stepping with that leg. I never noticed it but this morning the left leg tried to fold up on me. It is ok now at 1 pm but this as about 5 am. My wheeled walker was nearby so grabbed on to it and did not fall.

My PRP procedure got moved up because my doc has had to take an extended leave [not covid] and another doc is doing it. I don't know what's wrong, he's mid40s. Anyway, had to go off the NSAIDS that reduce the inflammation 7 days prior to the PRP because they thin the blood. Can't deal w/pain and hadn't realized my shoulder was as bad as it is. I'm taking Tramadol, tried cutting in half and it barely gets me by now that the inflammation is more pronounced. I can't use my left arm much, but I can type.
Whispy, hope that left hip gets better. I have issues w/legs and knees after my back surgery. It's been a huge effort to get my muscles and the nerves to trigger them back to working properly. This recovery process is certainly a process. Hang in there.
My neighbor who gives us eggs got a deer tag [bow and arrow] for a buck and she's been going through our gate to the Forest Svc land early in the morning, don't even hear her. She hasn't even seen one. He has tag for Elk Buck, also bow and arrow, later this month. I'm hoping for either some venison or elk meat. We'll see.

Flagryl, take acetaminophen with the tramadol. It gives it a boost for pain relief. I am using that now that I have quit the oxi-codon. It has really helped.

Acetaminophen is called Paracetamol in Australia and I take it with Codeine. Tramadol doesn't mix with another med I take . Flagryl I'm sorry you're in so much pain. Whispy...careful of that hip. When the hip goes there is knee pain too.

Sounds like maybe suggestions might help Flagryl, I hate hearing that you are still so bothered with pain. I was hoping your surgery would alleviate it. Whispy I hope your hip straightens up by itself, we can’t have you falling apart, you still getting back together. I’m still on meloxicam once a day, but I used to take 800 Motrin once a day for about 25 years. The script for meloxicam runs out in another two months, so we shall see than.
It is a real b.i.t.c.h getting older especially when mentally you still think you are 39. Ha ha

Silk, I am extremely allergic to codeine. I can not take it in any form. I wish I could but that is why I am left with very few choices.
Hurrona, I sure hope the hip strengthens with nothing more than exercises. I do not want hip surgery and another knee replacement any time soon.

I can't take acetaminophen. Doesn't work on me and it makes me sick. I kept trying acetaminophen w/my back and then the combo you describe, but my body just doesn't tolerate it. I swear NSAIDS work better because they thin the blood and helps all the arthritis in this poor shoulder. Tramadol just numbs and doesn't really do the job. I hope I can make it through to Wed.
As an aside, when I had my lumbar surgery the young anesthesiologist tried giving me a ramped up acetaminophen cocktail coming out of surgery. The pain was terrible and they finally had to give me morphine. I told him that prior but he didn't believe me that acetaminophen just plain doesn't work AND it makes me sick. Stupid doctor. Here I am in recovery and the pain brought me to consciousness. I mumbled the pain was 10 times worse than when I delivered my daughter and I had natural childbirth. If I ever see that guy again, I'll punch his lights out with my good arm.

When I broke my arm in Florida went to ER and we told them I could not take Codeine but they started to give me a shot. When hubby stopped them and asked what it was they were going to give it to me anyway. Ended up with morphine. So many white coats think they know more than we do. Sorry you can not take anything else Flagryl. I know tramadol is just like a placebo to me unless I take it with an acetaminophen. That gives it a bit of a kick. My brother told me that before he passed away.

Hi all! I am just catching up! They increased my medication for the esophageal candiditis. I am not used to this much medication. I have ulcers in my throat. The medicine is supposed to be helping, but it has not kicked in yet, so I have a fierce sore throat and stomach ache. It's different from a strep throat type of sore throat. I've been sleeping a lot. And whining on social media. Ha ha. Kidney function is still bad so no NSAIDs. Speaking of painkillers, isn't it fascinating how many different kinds there are and how they affect people differently. There used to be an over the counter painkiller called Orudus-KT (Ketoprofen) that worked awesome! They had to remove it from the market, though, because too many people were taking too much and ending up on dialasys. It's still available via prescription. Orudus-KT was excellent for migraines and that time of the month. Torradol is another drug that is now closely guarded because people took too much and hurt their kidneys. I hope everyone finds pain relief.
I hope all of you find comfort and love through all of your procedures and therapies. I love you all and am praying every day.

I remember the days when there was only aspirin. And when you had bronchitis your mother would make a mustard plaster and put it on your chest. And Doctors made home visits. And my brother even had his tonsils removed in the Dr. Office
Boy am I ever dating myself

Yupers I remember that too Huronna. I also remember at very young age being ill and in bed and the doctor came to the house. Ended up that I had chicken pox. duh now I wonder why he came himself. lol

That's just what they used to do...make house calls. Many mothers didn't have a second car and would have been unable to take their child to the Dr. Unexpectedly. And also when my older brother came home with chicken pox, mumps and the measles , we were all gathered together so that myself and my younger brother would get them at the same time and get it all over with. Definitely a difference in the customer service then and now HA HA

Those mustard plasters worked, pulled the mucus away. And, I had my tonsils removed in the dentist chair.
So, my cousin and his wife drove to the cemetery in Iowa where my grandparents and some of his other relatives are buried. My grandparents flat gravestone [in area where above ground not allowed] was overgrown with grass. He dug around it, cleared it off and took a pic w/his wife's flowers on it. He's such a kind guy. I am tracing his family on ancestry where we break off, we share same gg grandparents.
The Tramadol barely cuts it because w/o NSAIDS, which reduce the inflammation, I really hurt, collecting water too. That doesn't help matters. Procedure is Wed and I have PT today. I have a friend who had the PRP procedure after her back surgery to aid healing. Hope it helps.

Having never heard of PRP procedure I had to google and read up on it. Sort of reminds me a bit of stem cell therapy. I sure hope it helps you, you have had enough pain, time for some easement.
Got my first shingles vaccination today.

Flagryl that shoulder pain sounds so awful. Severe pain like that takes some beating and sometimes meds just take the edge off it. I am quite afraid to take opiates now except for 20 mg of Targin with Codeine when desperate . Acetaminophen...on it's own I might as well take chalk. It's good to have the interest on tracing your family history....so fascinating. Huronna...if you're dating yourself , imagine at my vast age how many memories I have that many of you don't...you be just a chicken. I am lucky to have a memory. Grassy, you're having a rough time with all the health problems you have. I would wish for some relief for you...soon !! Whispy...I too was given the wrong meds once in hospital...we do know our bodies more than doctors sometimes. Best wishes too everyone and be well.

I'm not whining but not feeling well so fulfilling the WWO at AD is going to take a while. PRP went well but am not feeling well, doc says that's a good sign. The blast of plasma is a shock to the body. I can't take NSAIDS for another week. Going to go lay down and take a nap.
Grassy, Whispy and Silk, my heart just goes out to you. Huronna has turned the corner and she's rockin'!

I wondered how you were going to feel today. And your right, anything foreign shot into the body is a shock. I had my shingles shot on Monday, and didn't affect me at all, but this morning I woke at 5 (gads it was dark out) and I couldn't go back to sleep. I've been a slug all day. Even told Joe I wasn't up to going to the gym today. Thought I might fall asleep on the treadmill and then wind up on the floor like road pizza.
Hope you fell better...SOON don't worry about your WWO, you know we are all very patient

Oh my goodness. So much discomfort. I hope everyone begins feeling better soon.
Flagryl, I think I would just go to bed and sleep for hours after that procedure. Good heavens, don't worry about the WWO. It can wait and so can we.
I can't take pain meds either. I have anaphylactic reactions to codeine or any form of it, generic or otherwise. Then earlier this year I came down with a UTI and my doctor put me on Cipro. Now keep in mind this fact - I have taken that exact med for many years for that issue, but 3 days into the prescription my throat started tightening, my mouth got very sore and my entire body had hives! I was a total mess!!! Yes, for some reason I suddenly developed an allergy to it. My doctor was shocked. She said she never saw anyone with such a mass of hives as I had. I was miserable from the itch, so I was on Benedryl for several weeks before it all started to subside. So that was listed under the codeine along with the other dozen or so meds I have adverse reactions to. 😢
I wish they could find a pain reliever for people like us.
Huronna, you sound like me waking up so early. Then if I do fall asleep again, I sleep too long and half my day is shot. If I stay awake then I try to stay busy so I'm not dozing all day. Lol
