Roni, and Huronna, I love to hear birds of any kind. I know we had the Cat Birds when we lived in Ft. Myers. There is something about wild birds that seems to soothe the soul. I love opening my doors in the early mornings (if I crawl out of bed early enough) to listen to the mourning doves. So peaceful.
Whispy, sorry to hear of the tire issues but glad you made it safely and got the job done.

Oh Me too Anita, I used to feel two beautiful pigeons, They were so pretty and did not look like the rest of them one was totally white with a few black spots, the other was a color of blue and he has the prettiest head as he was a perfect color of teal and then purple down his back... In the sun they were so awesome and yes, I fed them every morning and they so loved me... Hugz

I can't imagine a life without birds and feel so lucky to see the variety we do from our back deck. Our garden was planted with birds in mind. Never a dull moment out there.

Glad you are home safe Whispy, despite the tire issues. I feed the birds here and love to watch and hear them, most of those migrating are where they were headed and the feeders do not require as much filling.
Had a setback but managing, it is what it is.

Well, I am back and alive....I think. After having two two good days and one totally miserable one and on not so bad, today seems like the road uphill is on the way. Actually slept last night without any pain. I did get my WWO finished last night, took me quite some time to do that. Flagryl sorry you had a set back. but I know you are a fighter so you will get back and be on the move again. I do get quite sleepy, and I think that is happening now. SO I'll say hello and hopefully be back later.

Thanks Silk. Recovery is a process. And using heat when ice is more appropriate makes matters worse. So glad today looks like it's uphill Huronna, good sign. Naps are essential to healing, so glad you are getting needed rest.
Angel, I hope you are doing well. It's been quite a journey for you, too.

Good morning ladies. It's a sunny, warm day here on the prairie. Still bothered by excessive wind. I don't know when that will run out. Soon I hope.
Weather permitting, I won't be around on Saturday. The family is coming for me and we are spending the day on Lake Pelican. We checked the forecast and it is to be cloudy and 77°, so that will be great for me. Picnic, music, swimming and just a lot of fun with my daughter and grandkids.
I am so sorry I have not been doing the challenges or much of anything else for that matter. The light sensitivity seems to be worsening and there is nothing that can be done for it. If I can go find clip on sunglasses to fit over these frames, that would help, but Jen won't take me to the store.
I dont blame her. Our covid numbers continue to rise and to be honest, I would be afraid to go. I cannot wear a mask due to being seriously claustrophobic and I dont need to end up in the hospital with a panic attack. So for now I have to do what I can.
Flagryl, I hope you are feeling better today and nothing too serious has happened.
Huronna, I am also glad to hear you might be through the rough spot in your early recovery. I hope you are napping now.
Hoping everyone else is doing well and staying safe. Have a great day and I will be back later.

Hi Everyone!
Huronna - I hope you are doing better. My sister is an ortho nurse. She says her patients always seemed to have the roughest times around days 3 - 4 so perhaps the worst is over? I sure hope so!
Flagryl - I am sorry about your setback. I hope things can improve.
Angel - I hope you are OK.
Roni and Anita and Silk - I love birds so much! There have been a ton of fawns around my house this year too which I love. Pretty soon the fireflies will be out, which I love above all!
Masks - Oh Jeez! I am so glad I can do small errands and then get out to the car where Sid is waiting! I don't mind the masks in small timeframes. But if I am wearing one for a long period of time, I get antsy and overwhelmed. I do have super cute masks, though. Sid hasn't been in any store since before his surgery, so I have been holding our household down. I love Hy-Vee for groceries. I went to the Dollar Tree, last night for the first time. I was shocked to find that there were no books there! But I was also happy. I hope no books means people are reading! I love to read. Who loves reading? What do you love to read?
So last week I was concerned about some medical stuff. I began having some other troubles. I am thinking I am having a recurrence of esophageal candiditis. I am actually hoping for that because that would explain everything and all I need is some medicine and the pain will go away and I won't have to make any decisions. Hot doggies! I am waiting for my gastro referral. I am glad my oncologist is so smart!
I am sorting my kits - snort! Wow - I had no idea I had so many kits! I knew I had a lot, but this man? OMG! I must stop buying and collecting freebies! But can I do it? I should just use them. Now that I am in facebook jail, maybe I will make more tags now that I have time. That facebook is addictive. They should call it crackbook.

Facebook jail? Grassy, what did you do now?? 😳😂😂 I read all the time. Mostly mysteries. Victoria Thompson has a series called The Gaslight Series. So far she has about 37 books in that series. And she keeps adding to it. Lol I'm glad Sid is doing well. Now we have to keep you in our prayers!! Best wishes for a good report.

I love humming birds. The year after my dad died I had feeders all across my back deck. Hundreds of humming birds would empty them every day. Constant battle to feed them. Then one day some huge bees showed up and would attack the birds and then tried to attack me when I was trying to fill the feeders. That night I removed the feeders cleaned them up and stored them away. The hummers still come around but with no feeders they do not stay. I could not lure them in to be stung by those dang bees or maybe those were murder hornets. I will not feed them. Honey bees are smaller than those monsters and no they were not cicada killers. I know what they look like. We have turkeys and deer come to the yard a lot. I put corn out for the turkeys. We had fox move in a few years ago and almost wiped the turkeys out. So glad they are making a come back now. I count turkeys for our conservation people.fill out forms every month during summer. For two years we did not see any. This year a few are back. I read books on my iPad. Last book was named Buying the Farm. It was hard to put it down. I read all the posts but dang it do not remember who said what. Have a wonderful evening.

Whispy - I love hummingbirds too. I have never seen one in person, though, because i am visually impaired. Sid takes pictures of them and then I can see them. They are beautiful. They just move so fast. I love cardinals and finches and robins and even the cowbirds. The birds are hungry. We feed them all the time. We had an indigo bunting, which we had never seen before. I even had to get the bird book to identify it. It was beautiful. We live close to a lake where there are herons and those are great!
When I lived in Michigan, we had sandhill cranes. Those are my favorite!
Anita, I got facebook jail for telling someone to go back and re-read a post of mine where I said to be kind. I said being kind was not hard at all. Where I got into trouble was I said "Being kind is so much easier than being a sheep." Ha ha, I got reported for bullying. So I guess I am a big old meany on facebook. I am not mean. Facebook is getting mean. I am so glad it's nice and friendly and fun here.

Good morning everyone...interesting reading; particularly about birds. I was so blessed to see humming birds when I as in the US. Exquisite...although I didn't see a lot of birds I did see a Cardinal, Bluejay, and Woodpecker that I'd heard about. Grassy...you devil you ! I am not into FB but do go there occasionally. Crackbook rofl .I have enough trouble with my Licorice addiction. I have a friend who posts a lot about US politics there and I read hers. Glad Sid is doing better and sincerely hope you will also.Lots on your plate. I had to google Indigo Bunting...a beautiful bird. Whispy I read two books per week..my library delivers 8 per month. I would be lost without them. I wonder if those bees are Bumble bees...the females sting repeatably. Anita that sound slike a nice day out for you...I hope the weather works for you.I guess it's a nice day we might have photos. If you don't do the challenges we know there is a good reason. I hope you can get those sunglasses before too long. it's hard when it interferes with those things you like doing so much.I am like you, claustrophobic and can't wear a mask. Luckily we don't have cases where I live of the virus. Flagryl, I have trouble making myself use ice when heat seems more comforting. You have been 'through the mill for some time' so healing is ongoing. Huronna, I'm glad you're getting lots of sleep...when you're asleep it doesn't hurt. My cleaner is here so I'll just wish you all a good day.

Grassy, in Florida where we snowbird (rather did) there are a lot of Sandhill cranes. I love them too. Mocking birds are plentiful there too and although some people are annoyed by them, I enjoy their songs. Indigo buntings are beautiful and so are cardinals. I have seen many colorful beautiful birds here in the Ozarks. We have a pair of red birds here on the ranch (not cardinals) and blue birds are plentiful (not blue jays). Then there is a little wren that looks like it was dunked in raspberry juice, gold fenches, cedar wax wings, tufted tit mouse, red headed woodpeckers and more. All colorful and beautiful. I am sorry your sight impaired but so sweet of Sid to take pictures of them for you so you can see them. Huronna your knee will now feel better each day. Ice is the best friend. It reduces swelling. Heat does the opposite. Reducing swelling takes the pressure off the nerves. Silk, two books a week would make a big library after a year or more. I get digital books free, If I like the author I will buy more but usually steer away from series. They are never ending. I love historic reads, some documentaries and lots of novels but no romance or westerns. I used to read westerns until they started turning into romance or x rated. I just quit reading those. When I am done with the book I take it off my iPad. Still in my “library” which I can load on to the iPad any time. Also keep cookbooks on the ipad so can look up a recipe any time I feel like. Did I mention I love to cook? I cook almost all our evening meals. My sweet husband makes breakfast almost every morning too. I taught him how to cook in case I can not cook. I learned starting at 8 years old. Mother worked full time and I had to cook dinner so it was ready when she got home. I also watched my siblings and cleaned house. Back then there were no rules against leaving children in the care of a pre teen. Coffee is ready, going to go get a cup and start my day. Later ladies.

Love all this talk about birds. We occasionally see them on our front lawn. Joe and I also play this game on the way home from the gym. There is a culvert on the side of the road. when there is no rain it gets real low and not many birds around, but after the rain it is full and lots of birds and ducks. We must sound like crazy loons going bird! bird! bird! quack quack quack pink bird BIG white bird. Lots of birds. Yes I am feeling better today, slept long straight hours last night, not even interrupted by bathroom trips. No actual pain this morning, just soreness from the manipulation I guess, bruising is going down (I do bruise easily, that old thin skin I guess) Did not use the walker at all yesterday and plan on putting it back in the garage today. I bet I will still wind up taking naps though.
I have these two great cold wraps. Even after being in the freezer they are still malleable, wrap one around the top of the knee and the other goes around the bottom and wraps 1/2 way around the other and Velcros shut. Gently lay a towel around all this to keep the cold in and it's heaven. Usually keep it on for 45-60 minutes until no longer cold.
Whispy, my mom worked also and I was in charge of making dinners, but my father was a very picky eater, so there was nothing very exotic, consequently I could care less about cooking. You sound like the most energetic and imaginative person I know.
Oh and bit the bullet last night and booked a cruise for the end of December, covers both holidays. Either cruise lines will be running by then or they never will.
Guess I'll get ambitious and go make the bed before Joe gets home from his podiatry appt. (and before I crawl back into it ah ha)

I've been feeding birds here since we built in 2003 and did the same back in Ohio. I have only 1 hummingbird feeder and the yellow jackets will drive those beautiful lil hummingbirds away. They are good sized and vicious and I've been hit by them and doc says I'm probably allergic now. Several years ago I started using my Mom's bug juice she used to capture the flies from the cattle so their patio was livable. I put it in half gallon milk jugs and hide on tree branches. I've almost eliminated the buggers and get rid of flies and brown moths to boot. Because of my spine issues last year, I wasn't attentive and they came back. I captured over 100 last fall and only a few this spring and I've not seen any so far. Whispy, you might want to try this. Mom’s Bug Juice 1 package of dry yeast 1 cup honey or molasses 1 cup cider vinegar 9 cups of water Dissolve yeast in warm water, add honey, vinegar and whisk until dissolved. Pour into 2-4 plastic jugs with 3-4 holes (1/3 inch in diameter) cut near top and hang in trees around your yard or near patio. Plastic quart or 1/2 gal milk jugs with handles work best. Cut a circle in the center of a plastic lid, ie cottage cheese container and place on jug and then screw down cap to keep rain out of the holes. In all the years I've done this I've never found a pollinating bee, only yellow jackets, black flies, knats and moths. I am better and see my PT tomorrow. She says 2 years. I need to continue to engage the muscles affected by the cut nerves and attend to the other compensating muscles that have rebelled. It's complicated but ice on some heat on others. Anita your picnic sounds like great fun and Grassy, keep us posted on those meds. Glad your oncologist is a smart one. Forget FB, you have better things to do. Silk, you live in a wonderland w/birds and flowers. I hope you and Angel are well. Huronna, sounds like progress is your middle name. Good for you! A Dec cruise huh. I hope it all works out and is safe by then. My mother cooked good food, nothing fancy. All the time I worked 24/7 I just cooked to get by, but after I retired I started to get more serious. I can't do a lot now, but I've gained some knowledge and some skills so our meals are more interesting. I love good food and so does my husband so he helps get my utencils ready and takes things in and out of the oven for me. We get really good fresh eggs from our neighbors and every couple of weeks I'll make omelets for dinner, usually brie and asperagus. Last night I made them w/cooked spinach and mushrooms and some left over brie and added shredded white cheddar cheese. We had left over scalloped potatoes, not much, on the side with a slice of sour dough bread and a garden salad. At least I can fold and flip the omelets. I've made ravioli from scratch, but can't do that now. Like to buy Trader Joe's fresh ravioli and I make a wine sauce for them or use purchased vodeka sauce. Getting by. I need to make some lasagna and freeze some portions. Maybe next month.

Good afternoon all. Oh Grassy don't feel bad about Facebook jail. My husband has say enough that has been ban for saying his mind also. The problem with Facebook is they took away Free Speech and that makes me very upset. Knock on wood I haven't been to FB jail yet. But my time is coming. Oh I love hummingbirds to and they're a very pretty bird. My husband took a picture years ago in our garden here and though it was a butterfly. I told him, it was a hummingbird, and their is a difference to. I had to laugh when he told me, but it's okay. He knows now .... I also love butterflies and they sure do have beautiful colors. We also have squirrels and rabbits around us , including all kinds of birds. I love nature to.

Whispy that was quite a job for a little girl.I can't use an ipad... I read all sorts of books except Westerns and stupid romances, maybe an historial romance now and then. My parents died when I was 5 years old and from then I lived with various relatives until at age 10 had foster parents ( family friends ) She was a wonderful cook and gave me an interest in it, however I didn't have to cook Huronna but I did have to do the dusting and loathe it to this day. As an adult I developed an interest in cooking and loved planning and having dinner parties. These days I don't have the energy but have Joe to do all the chopping , putting things in the oven etc. so can still plan an interesting meal for us and give orders to my sidekick . Huronna, glad to read that you're feeling better. Those wraps sound great...can they be heated as well ? Good planning that cruise...something to look forward to. Flagryl that is a great tip and recipe to trap unwanted bugs. We don't have a problem here but occasionally will have a swarm if bees. Joe will smoke them out. I hope you're having a reasonable day today. I need to have breakfast. Be well everyone.

Silk, my grandmother lost her parents at age 10 and lived w/older siblings and then her great aunt. I believe she learned to cook young as she was delegated the task. She was a wonderful cook. Met my grandfather when she left a pie on the window sill to cool and he almost stole it. He was working on a construction project for a neighbor. I've never been able to make fried chicken like she did. Of course, she raised chickens. She also made the best green beans w/bacon or salt pork, beans from her garden. She canned everything they grew and they had a large garden. Her cookies and pies were State Fair quality. She also made a kind of sauce she poured over gingerbread and to this day I do not know how it was made. I don't think it was a white sauce w/flour...maybe corn starch but was slightly sweet. Did anyone here ever have something like that?

Well I think I overdid a little with the exercises. I guess I'm impatient and want to be "me" again fast. Stretch those ankles and toes, then pull back and tense those thigh muscles. I'm walking pretty good, just a little limp. thank goodness for those ice wraps. Yes you can heat then, but the idea of putting heat on this knee just doesn't sound good. The cool is great, in fact been on the c omputer too long and need to get those wraps out of the freezer.
I'll be on my ipad for the rest of the night, not the computer.

Oh dang Huronna... you sound like me with doing a little to much to fast. Are you going to have physical therapy? I didn't have it, but about 3 months later I realized my knee wasn't bending right so I went to PT for a while and it was the best thing I ever did for my knee.

I, too, hope your PT can make things better Huronna. I know about doing too much, even a little bit can cause swelling so I'm glad the ice helps. It will end.
I'm off to my PT this morning.
