Curiosity sometimes gets the better of me. And so I decided to ask and see who was where and when. So can you answer these questions for me and for others.
1. Did you join the original MSN group Animation Lessons during the first year it opened which was 2003? 2. Were you a member when one morning in May of 2004 Animation Lessons was hacked. MSN said that they closed us for piracy, of what we were never able to find out.? 3. Were you a member of the MSN group Animation Lessons2 from 2004-2009? 4. Have you only been a member since we opened at Proboards Jan 1, 2009? 5. If you joined after our grand opening here, do you remember when you joined? 6. Now here is the biggie.....how did you find us or why did you join?

Since I have been around since the first month of AL's inception I'll tell you why I joined. I was a member of Graphics Impact which was run by Hellonlegs. She has also had another group that gave MSN websites awards. I had submitted my Ferret site and got a few of them, and then saw her link to the graphic instructional site which I really needed as I was just starting. About a year after I was there, a new member joined and his name was Animator. He had spoken to a bunch of graphic managers saying that he was looking to teach people how to animate, he didn't want to steal members, just wanted to add something different to their abilities and then they could return to their prospective sites. I looked at his site when there were only two members, Animator and some gentleman from India who did flash animations. I told him I just didn't have time, but something grabbed me and I kept going back to look. And then I was hooked as you all now know.
And that is the beginning of my like on Animation Lesson
How about you?

1. Did you join the original MSN group Animation Lessons during the first year it opened which was 2003? Nope, I didn't even know that you existed at this point in time. Not sure if I was even copyright compliant, shame on me!
2. Were you a member when one morning in May of 2004 Animation Lessons was hacked. MSN said that they closed us for piracy, of what we were never able to find out.? Nope again, never knew a thing about it.
3. Were you a member of the MSN group Animation Lessons2 from 2004-2009? Nope again, I am not doing very well here huh? lol
4. Have you only been a member since we opened at Proboards Jan 1, 2009? I think so yes, I don't remember being a member before proboards.
5. If you joined after our grand opening here, do you remember when you joined? I believe it was later 2009 or early 2010. Not exactly sure, but using KelticMyst at the time x
6. Now here is the biggie.....how did you find us or why did you join? I don't remember exactly, I think it may have been via the Zone. I think I asked Huronna some stuff about animation and was recommended to try AL. Never looked back since (cept for my absenses)

I'm a member here at AL since 2009. I was searching for free to use tubes, cause i wanted to start to be copyright compliant. With Google i found "TheZone" ... no participation was required, so i registered and started reading the boards. I was amazed about this Forum (haven't seen something like this before) Then, one of their links sent me to YOU Registered at AL with my mumbo jumbo (didn't know how to do that, think it was the worst introduction ever :-() but you did understand somehow and now look at me ... with all of your help i'm still here!

I joined before ProBoards but I don't remember when. I came here from The Zone (which I joined before it became what it is now.) I joined because I was intrigued to learn how to make things move. I wish that I had made note of certain things that I did online because I just don't remember dates. I do remember that I didn't like leaving MSN because things were so different and I had to learn so much along about that time.

I joined on Aug 26, 2016 at 11:13am. Having only recently returned to the tagging community after a 6+ year hiatus, Huronna found me at the Zone and encouraged me to join if I wanted to develop my practically non-existent animating skills. She was very kind about it. Even when I put her off saying that I wasn't ready for another group. (Two of the other members here also mentioned over the course of the next two months that I might want to check it out.) I had to be doing a LOT of work on PSP basics. I'd only been back about a week at the time, had no (not even one) plugins loaded, and although I remembered "propogate paste" like it was second nature - I had just spent the better part of two days fussing with the foreground/background gradient. A couple of months later, I was ready - and here I am.

I didn't come into graphics and animation till fall of 2006. I wanted to make stuff like I saw in email and on the web. All glittery and moving real fast. Still like all the bling. Had no clue how to do it. I started searching for places to learn. Joined about a dozen groups, but AL is the only animation site I joined. I've dropped out of all those other groups or they closed. This is mostly were I hang my hat nowadays. Although I do participate in challenges at AD and hopefully will join in on the next auction.

The members were encouraging and friendly so I stayed until now when I am a little silver haired old lady ! I still try to tap dance away from the wet noodle.

I joined in late 2004 or early 2005. I was a member of several groups at this time and I didn't know anything about being copyright compliant. Someone in one of the groups mentioned about trying to learn animation and so I began googling. Google is your best friend, ya know? lol
Anyway, I found animation lessons and decided to join. Animator unlocked the door for me and in I came - into a world full of brand new rules, information and lots and lots of lessons. I almost left a few times because most of the groups I was in were full of young people and they didn't seem to welcome us older folks.
Between Animator and Huronna I soon began learning that 99$ of what the people in those other groups were dong was a BIG NO NO. In one group people were using the art work of Thomas Kinkade and when I told them that was a no no I got banned from the group. Another group was almost as bad and when I mentioned copyright I got kicked out of that one, so I just deleted all of the group except animation lessons.
There were several times back then that I almost quit here too because copyright was way over my head and I didn't understand a lot of it, but here I am - being copyright compliant and still learning every day.
I enjoyed Animator while he was with us and often wonder about him and wonder if he is still with us out there somewhere.
Today I go to BAMA once in a while to see what's new and belong to AD, but other than that, I stay here.

I'm not good at remembering what groups or forums I once belonged to before AL but I do know that I was at MSN, AL2 group, and then moved here eventually. I had my own group at MSN at one time, well, a friend and I did. I met her on the internet and taught her PSP, early 2000's, and we opened the group together. I took quite some time putting everything I knew into to the group....my lessons, all of my links to everything. She did nothing but complain about being ill all of the time so I did the legwork. We were just getting ready to open it to the public and I woke up one morning and my group was gone. She took everything and closed it.....overnight. She was from New York and her name was Sandy. That's all I remember, never really talked about it, never wanted to. Don't remember any dates or how long I was at MSN. This is just a glimpse of it when I joined AL here at PB when I tried to remember everything I had. Joined AL cause I wanted to animate. Been here for a little over 8 years.

1. Did you join the original MSN group Animation Lessons during the first year it opened which was 2003?
Yes. A few weeks or a couple of months after its inception in early 2003.
2. Were you a member when one morning in May of 2004 Animation Lessons was hacked. MSN said that they closed us for piracy, of what we were never able to find out.?
Oh yes! I remember very well the day I signed into MSN groups and saw the dreaded "shuttered" graphic when trying to get into AL. I had a sinking feeling and immediately emailed Huronna who told me the site had been closed by MSN. The three managers (at the time), Animator, Huronna and Ailsa were nothing short of heroic in their efforts for the next 24 hours to rebuild the site. They worked tirelessly all through the night and the next morning Animations Lessons 2 was up and literally mirrored the one that MSN closed. If I'm not mistaken, the "2" stayed as part of the name until MSN finally closed groups for good.
3. Were you a member of the MSN group Animation Lessons2 from 2004-2009?
I've never NOT been a member since I first joined. Thank you Huronna for not catching me in that big broom when you did a sweep of the site, even through my long absences.
4. Have you only been a member since we opened at Proboards Jan 1, 2009?
No. I remember that we used it as a refuge site when we couldn't access the MSN group for some reason. It was a shelter in the storm so to speak.
5. If you joined after our grand opening here, do you remember when you joined?
I've always been here.
6. Now here is the biggie.....how did you find us or why did you join?
I was the manager of my own MSN group and was making sigs for my members. Someone posted an animated siggie and I was fascinated. I had to know how it was done. I did some research and some googling and ended up at the front door of Animation Lessons and never looked back. I've taken extended leaves of absence, been an every day poster to one who only pops in occasionally and everything in between. But no matter what life throws at me, Animation Lessons has been an unwavering constant in my life for nearly 14 years! LOVE you Huronna!!!

I do believe that Marie was one of the originals. I remember her playing with her photo and she made it have a big nose. I sent her a note on Facebook, maybe she will get a chance to drop in.

Guess I was thinking about the real early ones, but that is pretty early. I remember T-rex and her horse animation that tosses one leg into another frame and we couldn't figure out how that happened, and then came to realize the gremlins played havoc when things were on a transparent background. And we had a bunch of original members who came from adult sites, because MSN had them at the time. And I think Animator was about to have a heart attack when they started posting their boobs. That was when he said NO CLEAVAGE, period. How I wonder how he is doing, never could understand how he could just disconnect everything. He did come back that one time when he had been gone a year, bit he had had a stroke. Boys lots of memories from these many years
