John, Flagryl's husband, just called me to give me the update. Turns out they only had to work on 3 of her discs not 4, surgery was a success She was in pain for a while afterwards, but meds seem to be working. Good possibility that she may come home today. John was just about to leave to go to the Hospital. He has added me to the family update e-mail list, so I can keep everyone up to day.

That is wonderful news. She will be able to rest and recover better at home in her own bed. She is a tough lady so I know she will heal well and get back to doing all the things she loves doing. Continued prayers for her.

Thanks so much for the update, Huronna. I've been thinking about her. I'm glad surgery went well and that the other disc did not need to be worked on.

Thanks Huronna for checking in w/John. He put you on the family distribution list but he's done w/updates since I'm doing so well. Came home Saturday. The pain has been controlled and I'm now lengthening the time between the pills. They do make me itch. I'm sleeping through the night even when I have to get up to take the meds...I go right back to sleep. My throat is still sore from the tube during surgery.
So pleased I don't have to wear a neck brace and I can turn my head side to side a bit w/o issues and I am walking our long hallway. Friends have been dropping off dinners, which has helped. Of course, I'm enjoying the lemon-blueberry cheesecake he made for Mothers Day. The pain meds have slowed me down and I can't keep track of who I've told what/when.

When you mentioned the sore throat, that did remind me about Joe's throat. Actually his lips were really swollen also and yes his throat hurt from the intubation and that was why he only wanted soft food for the first couple of days.

Same here. I've been using lozengers and eating soft foods. You know, if that's the worst of it, I'm doing really well.

So glad you are doing better Flagryl. In time you will be good as new. I never like hearing they have to intubate me because I know what the result is. I hope that soon gets better too.
We are thinking of you. Thanks for coming by every few days to say hi and let us know how you are doing.

It's been over a week now and I am doing very well. I've reduced my pain meds down to once every 6 hours and have stepped down to a lighter med, except at night. I'm napping and sleeping through the night, lots of rest.
I am so overwhelmed with the support of friends. One friend cleaned out her closet and gave me several button-down blouses and another bought me 2 very nice blouses at the local thrift store. Even though I don't have to wear a neck brace, it's easier to wear button-downs than pull overs. My book club organized dinner donations since John is more of a dessert guy. Though I have been enjoying his lemon curd cheesecake. A neighbor is bringing by a second dinner from them for us tonight.
I bought a lap holder for my iPad/Kindle and my daughter and family gave me a digital gift card for Mother's Day. I can't read for very long, but I can read a bit.
I honestly can't believe how well I'm doing and I hope this continues. I'm slow at the trivia and miss things I know but at least I'm doing it.
